This was the very first sushi place I ate at here in Florida/Tampa area. I found it on yelp. Reviews were great so I decided to try it. I didn't realize that they closed for a bit between lunch and dinner. Fortunately I arrived only a couple of minutes prior to them opening for dinner (5pm). They also have Hibachi but I specifically went for sushi. Despite it getting crowded quickly, service was prompt and the servers were very kind. I ordered the sashimi dinner which had an assortment of sashimi and also included a salad and soup. Prices are very reasonable as well. Everything was delicious and the presentation was great! I was later notified on yelp that they used my photo for their profile which made me smile. I'm glad this place is very close to where I live and I can and will be coming to eat here often. I will definitely be trying their hibachi as well. The parking is ample btw! Definitely recommend Kuchi Sushi if you're in the area! :) read more

The service was nice, but the food was just okay other than the fried rice. We got hibachi chicken and steak which comes with a lot of food like a soup, salad, vegetables, fried rice, and noodles. The meat and vegetables were good too but the other items didn't taste the best or didn't have much of a flavor. The hibachi grill was a fun experience though! read more

We come here yearly for a neighborhood dinner. Tonight was atrocious. I said upfront that I'm a vegetarian, they brought me separate soup. (Yay) The chef cooked the meat basically with the veggies. Tried to give them to me.. nah.. I've been a strict vegetarian since 1995. They brought my separately cooked veggies out when everyone was boxing up. On top of it, I actually had to go to the bar to ask for water refills for my son and I . They did take $9 off of our $130 check when I politely explained my concerns. Hibachi food here is perfect! As it is the typical experience you would expect. Deliciously tasteful and you know I'm always taking a doggy bag home to have for the next day. Standard hibachi practice, you know what I mean? We arrived at 7:30pm on a Saturday night for 5 people and were told a 25-minute wait; however, this wait turned out to be 45 minutes in reality. Kids wanted to try hibachi since they never been. On this rainy day we decided to grab some lunch here. The kids enjoyed the filet mignon and my husband had the shrimp. I opted for some sushi rolls. Watching my daughter flinch every time a wielding spatula came close to her as well as the flames bursting off the grill. Made this trip well worth it. The food was all good , the service was excellent, the sushi rolls were tasty and they had a huge selection of rolls to choose from. Their menu was pretty extensive and had pretty much anything for even the pickiest of eaters. Lunch seemed to be half the price of the normal dinner price if your looking to come in for a early dinner and they had a pretty good 3 roll special that comes with soup or salad monday- Friday. After browsing through the menu we decided to order Sunshine Roll & Chicken & Shrimp Hibachi Combo. The best thing about the restaurant is that the hibachi is prepared in front of you by the chef. The chef was amazing and he was making everyone laugh while cooking the hibachi. The hibachi was delicious and tasty. We loved the hibachi. One of the best hibachi's that we had. I've had this place on my "Greater Tampa" collection list for a while and we finally gave it a try this past weekend. It had been years since either my fiancé or I have been to a hibachi grill, so this was a fun treat. We were seated quickly and joined a hibachi table with two other parties. Our chef was a lot of fun and full of funny jokes. He prepared the food efficiently and knew exactly how to portion everything out. The food was overall pretty good, and there was so much of it that I had TONS of leftovers. The yum-yum sauce really makes it too. I will say that some of the meats are a bit bland, which really makes you need sauce for flavor. Maybe that's the point? We would definitely come back some time again for hibachi. The food is good. The service is great. Oh, and don't be afraid to bring home your leftovers! My fiancé and I were shocked at the two girls to our left that each paid for a roughly $30 meal only to leave 90% of it! I can recommend the server. However I cannot recommend the cleanliness of the establishment whatsoever. My friend and I arrived and asked to be sat at the bar. The waiter was very timely and helpful, we ordered, received our food, ate & then was able to gaze around the restaurant a bit more in detail since the place was dimly lit: I sat looking directly in front of me and over my head and viewed the following that was utterly appalling. Good sushi and one of the better hibachi places we have been to. My husband requested we go to a hibachi place for his birthday. A friend reminded me that Kobe always sends a free meal coupon and I brought that up to him. In the end we decided we rather support local and the Kobe nearest to us has a less than four star rating - wow am I getting elitist on where I eat. I'm actually glad we chose here, because it was pretty empty so we didn't have to worry about my son's crazy antics and the food was good! FOOD - I always worry that hibachi will be too greasy. Not here! My husband got noodles, fried rice, vegetables, shrimp and steak. All of it was delicious. I really enjoyed the noodles. I ended up going with the Salmon Sushi Entree. I really enjoy that they have these combinations of sushi to order - theres a whole page of it. It was about $20 for a salmon roll, spicy salmon roll, and three pieces of salmon sushi. I feel like that combination a la carte would be less than $20, but I didn't get a chance to price it out. It is a little on the pricier side, but every piece of sushi was delicious. The salmon tasted fresh and not fishy. We started with shrimp shumai steamed. Honestly, it seemed to me like the type you could get frozen at the Asian market. I didn't dislike it, but I wouldn't get it again. ATMOSPHERE - from the outside this place looks pretty run down. It's in a random location as kind of close to the movie theater, but not walking distance. I guess it is a testament to the food that it has survived so far. Inside it is much nicer. It is split between the sushi side and the hibachi side. Both sides are pretty large. On a Monday night there were only a couple tables occupied. SERVICE - It is slow. This is not a get in get out restaurant. It takes a while for them to start the hibachi - maybe they are hoping that more people will come to share the table. Our server was nice though so I don't knock them for this. Just don't come here if you are in a rush. Overall I liked this place. The hibachi demonstration was an average one they all do nothing spectacular or significant. If you have seen one you have seen them all. My young daughter wanted to come out here on our mommy daughter night before the movies. The chef kept hitting on me making my daughter uncomfortable. He asked her what her race was if she was mixed which didn't offend her but I sure didn't like it. I asked 4 or 5 times for siracha or some equivalent. There is a strange smell in the place, I think it's the water..or the plumbing cus the bathroom faucet water smells bad... or I don't know.. the place looks dirty and rub down. I went to kichi and i'm very disappointed. the miso soup was great it have lots of flavor. the salad dressing was mushy and tasted expired. when we got out entree the chicken was not seasoned, the noodles were cold, and the rice was just not good. My husband loves Hibachi, and my kids are getting to the age where they can appreciate the show, so we decided to check out Kuchi. Overall, our experience was good. Our chef was actually Japanese, which made this the first time we had a Japanese hibachi chef in Florida. He was hilarious, squirting sake into the adults' mouths and water into my son's face (to his delight). They were very generous with firing up the grill -- I'm relieved we left with eyebrows still intact. The kids loved it! Service was a little slow. It appeared that one waitress handled all the orders, drinks, salad, and soup for the whole Hibachi room. It was fine, except that I probably would have ordered another bottle of sake if she'd been able to come back and ask if I wanted anything else. Oh well, their loss. The sake they serve is not great quality, so I probably avoided a hangover by not getting more. My husband was not offered another bottle of beer, and the water was slow to be replenished. I left very thirsty. The food was fine. It was pretty standard Hibachi. My husband and I both had the steak and shrimp combo. My husband added on a side of lobster. My daughter had the kid shrimp meal, my son had the kid chicken meal. The kids loved the noodles and the veggies. We all felt that the salad was too creamy, could have been more acidic. We'll probably return again for Hibachi once I recover from the salt bomb. This certainly was the best Hibachi I've had in the Tampa area. The lobster, shrimp, steak, scallops, and chicken were all fresh as were the veggies BUT the seasoning was way over the top on saline. Tasted extra salt in every meal for the next two days.
