Driving by, you would never expect to find a Japanese restaurant in a rather dilapidated building in a very empty parking lot. But here I am writing a review for this place because the sashimi here is actually pretty good! I decided to try out the tuna sashimi lunch special and was pleasantly surprised. While it is on the pricier side, probably around $24, you get tuna sashimi, soup, salad, rice, seaweed salad, and Japanese daikon pickles. While I wish they would give you more rice for the price you pay, they did not skimp on the sashimi. You got 12 pieces of good sized tuna sashimi. The fish itself was a nice deep red and had a good firm texture. Paired with the pickled ginger and wasabi paste, it was pretty good quality. The pickled daikon provides a nice pop of acid and freshness and the rice was of a good texture and consistency. Overall, I think this was a pretty solid meal. While on the pricier side, quality is good and consistent, which is something I appreciate. read more

We were sooooo excited to come here. We had 5 kids at our table and there was 0 entertainment. Our food order got messed up too. They gave our food to another family. Every hibachi place I go to I get all white sauce but they didn't ask they just gave you what they made. Giving 3 stars because the service was so quick. I placed a reservation on Yelp yesterday for a party of 5 for the hibachi on a Fri at 6 pm. We arrived at 5:45 pm and were promptly sat with another party of 3 at a hibachi. Two of us had the chicken and shrimp combination dinner with fried rice, fried noodles, soup and veggies. One of my son's had the NY strip steak medium with noodles, rice and soup. My husband had the chicken and filet with soup, noodles, veggies and rice. My youngest son had a strawberry juice, some fried noodles, and calamari appetizer. We ordered the the fried pork dumplings also. The waitress was good and the hibachi chef was hilarious. He was cracking jokes the entire time. My youngest loved his interactive tricks with food. The restaurant is huge with many hibachis. The bathrooms were clean and need an update. We would return.! read more

I got take out for lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty midday on a Saturday afternoon. The menu has so many options for sushi and for very great, affordable prices. I don't know if they usually give salad and wonton chips for free because I ordered to-go or because it comes with the appetizer. The Kuchi for Two order rocks, especially if you want the wonderful flavors and textures of the five different kinds of meat and seafood they offer in that order. Salad - a small iceberg salad with a very nice sweet ginger dressing. Stir-fried Rice.... which I love, although I could not eat any this trip due to current diet restrictions. Stir-fried Noodles... Again... could not partake. But I have had them in the past, and they are yummy. Teppen Yaki Veggies - delicious, and very well prepared. Even got extra since we could not do the noodles and rice. Steak - probably 2 to 3 ounces, cooked to order. The requested "rare" was perfect... and very tasty and tender. Shrimp - 4 decent sized shrimp, nicely done... delicious! Scallops - 2 large scallops, well seared, and tender and sweet. Yummy! Lobster Tail - half a tail per diner... and it was very good, not over cooked. Very nice! Chicken - Chicken breast, and very good. Tender and yummy! Mine had a bit of cartilage in it from the breast bones, but not objectionable. The chef was awesome, cutting up... making us laugh! Very entertaining, and very skillful with the knives and other tools, juggling eggs, etc. The best chef I have had here to date. Service was good like always... they kept the water glasses full, and attended to all of our needs quickly. My girlfriend said she has a new favorite place (but she says that every time I take her somewhere she hasn't been yet)! But Kuchi is a great place, and fairly reasonable on the wallet too. We took the birthday girl here for her 22nd birthday and had an absolute blast. Our chef, Harold, was absolutely amazing and really made sure we had fun. He also speaks Spanish, which is a great plus, and really furthered the great experience we were already having. The chicken hibachi was fantastic, the steak hibachi was equally as good, and the shrimp hibachi was spectacular. Everyone in our group had a fantastic time, I could not emphasize this enough. This experience let the children in us come out. To make things even better, the staff were so kind and attentive making sure we always had water and that our food was good! Immaculately clean, with a welcoming staff. I ordered the Jimmy Smith Roll and the shrimp habatchi dinner. I received more food that I could eat, so of course, I took the rest for leftovers. I was celebrating my birthday and I enjoyed the food. The restaurant is cute, but the service was terrible. We arrived at around 8:30-8:45pm approximately, and we weren't provided menus. We had to ask for them and she apologized and brought us some menus. She did suggest some sushi rolls, which we appreciated. However, at about 9:45pm, she started asking us if we were done and reminded us that the restaurant closed at 10:00pm. We were done eating and just trying to finish our drinks, but the waitress just stood at the corner looking at us, hurrying us constantly. It was very distasteful and we won't be coming here again. My daughter and I come here sometimes because she likes it. Every time I come I hope it will be better, but It's just okay. Maybe it's the lack of business, but something about this place is sub par. They even brought me a lipstick stained cup for my green tea the last time I was there. The servers are very nice. The decor is really nice. The sushi could be better. It could be fresher. It's not that it's bad, but I'd rather just grab a roll at publix. I did get bento lunch here once, but it wasn't memorable and I don't believe my teriyaki tasted like teriyaki. This restaurant seems like it's trying, but something is missing. Maybe fresher fish and new sushi chefs? The sauce designs on the plates are a nice touch. We were impressed as soon as we walked in with the decor. We were asked which side we would like to sit on, Sushi or Hibachi, but tonight we were here for the sushi. The hostess left us with both menus and explained you can order off both if we'd like. That is nice. The sushi menu is pretty large, normally I find one or two options that I would like, I found several I'd like and plenty on the hibachi. The menu did not make it very clear on if the hibachi menu is if they serve this during lunch as they had a lunch menu on both. But we asked and the answer is yes. Our waitress was extremely friendly and offered help with our decisions. We ordered the miso and mushroom soups, both very good. For our appetizer the got the Yellowfin Ceviche which came out plated beautifully! I am not a huge fan personally but I did try it and it was good, the hubby loved it and was excited I didn't want more than one piece. We ordered the Black Angel and Six Flags rolls, and they both were AMAZING. Normally Brian will try my roll and that's it... he kept trying to get more and more pieces. Brian enjoyed his so much that he decided he needed to order more... so he got the Spicy Tuna, which I think the waitress only heard Tuna because there was no heat to it at all. We also got the Spicy Mango Lobster Roll and it was good, just not as good as the first time. I personally thought it needed a crunch for a difference in textures, if you order the Painted Lady... you'd have the texture difference. We will be back for sure, the food was well worth it. The shrimp looks boiled and not grilled. The vegetables are also definitely frozen bagged and boiled. Whoever put them in my potter forgot to drain the water. The yum yum sauce tastes like something from a jar. There was barely any steak in mine which was the regular steak. It was not cooked medium rare as requested. So after reading the reviews we thought we'd try the hibachi side..it was fairly quiet when we arrived but soon fairly busy..the servers were attentive and soon our chef came...other than being fairly quiet (was a little hard to hear above the fans & noise of restaurant) but general jokes and there was a young boy (approx 3 years) that he kept smiling! I had my doubts as the scallops sizzled and developed crust and seemed to be on the grill too long as he tossed zucchini to participants willing to catch (or try!) in their mouths. Plenty of sauce added to the noodles & fried rice (little bit too much for us and the only thing that stopped that 5th star! ) also had "yummy sauce" which is crazy rich (think savory creme brulee!) which was delicious on the chicken! After all the entertainment he divided the proteins up....Man! DELISH! Surprisingly the scallops were tender with great flavor, filet well seasoned, lobster (covered in butter!) & tender chicken. Everyone very full & enjoyed very much! The ice cream at the end was a nice touch too! The people that were seated with us said they came often (lived very close) & really hoping this restaurant would "make it" since they enjoyed very often, us being from across the country probably won't be back soon but definitely would if closer! Good for sushi. We liked the Six Flags (#55) roll, it has a variety of different seafood that goes great together. I dont' recommend the Volcano Roll, not that great here. For the sashimi, you get 3 thick cut pieces. The Mackerel and Yellow Tail sashimi were delicious. There was no wait and this placed is a great option for dinner even on a Saturday night.
