The crew that did the job, James, Danny, and Sean worked well together. They started each day at 7:30 AM, like clockwork. They used tarps and coverings to protect our floors and furniture, and cleaned up at the end of the day, leaving us with electricity each night. In an old house like ours, some holes had to be made, but these were patched up at the end of the job, and I've already painted, so you can't tell that holes were made in the walls. We did have another quote, and on our second floor, the other electrician wanted to run some type of tubing on the outside of the walls for new wiring for our dining room, living room and den. I called Kuhlman because the outlets along one wall of my kitchen weren't working. It had been like that for a while. The woman who answered the phone gave me some hints on what to do to test if I really needed an electrician and I did it the next day. Amazingly the outlets now work - without paying an electrician the standard fee for a visit to do something so simple - flick the switches in the fuse box. Now these people are HONEST and helpful. The owner Jesse came to provide an estimate & was very patient walking through & provided an estimate with many different options understanding I needed to juggle the finances! Once the work was chosen, the electricians that completed the job were friendly & careful - I had a ceiling fan installed & some recessed lights changed out in a cathedral ceiling. There was a little confusion with the fan mounting pole but Lynn (in their office) & Jesse put in the effort to contact the fan manufacturer & work through the questions. When you run a business, there are 3 main principles to keep in mind when dealing with customers: - Tell the customer what you're going to do - Do what you said you were going to do - Check with the customer to make sure what you did is what they wanted In short, these guys nailed all 3 of these so much. So, I recently bought a house that had old knob and tube wiring. The first thing I wanted to do was get it replaced, which is a major undertaking. It's an old, two family house with sections that were added on later, and piecemeal electrical upgrades that were done throughout the years. It was a daunting task in so many ways. The owner of KES, Jesse, came out personally, spent time going over every part of the house and discussing options - re-doing all of the wiring vs just replacing the knob and tube stuff, how they were going to do it, some thoughts on how I might want to lay out new outlets, switches, circuit panels, everything. It was a refreshing change from the other electricians who just wanted to dictate exactly what needed to be done and run up a big unnecessary bill for things I didn't want. He presented me with options, and I selected one and we went from there. Then, there was the work itself. Absolutely phenomenal. Like I said, there were a ton of details, and they nailed it. They kept notes on what I wanted and did it right the first time, they rolled with the punches when I changed my mind on details halfway through the job, they asked questions on my preferences and offered sage advice. The attention to detail, especially the little things, like minimizing the disruptions from re-wiring and keeping the damage to walls to a minimum, went so far beyond what I was thought was possible. I was expecting to be totally without power while they re-did all the wiring, but no, they were able to keep our power on pretty much the entire time. Besides just doing a great job, they were also on time, they did the job right the first time, they finished when they said they would. All told, they ended up inspecting and replacing almost all of the electrical in the house, which is exactly what I asked for. All the outlets, now properly grounded. Most of the lights replaced with energy efficient LEDs that won't need a bulb replaced for decades. New circuit breaker panels instead of the old fuse boxes. Even had a couple of electric baseboard heaters installed. At the end of the day, I'm incredibly satisfied and happy with the work they did. I bought a old home with Knob and tube, and i wanted the wirings to be re-done. I had two electricians (including Jesse) to look at the house to see what can be done. Other electrician told me that it can not be done, and if he does it, the only option is tearing all the walls down. Well, If there is no wall, then i can wiring the entire house by myself. Then Jesse came, he gave me trust: he took time to explain to me what needs to be done with minimal damage to the walls (very small holes in the walls and they patched them after work). The way Jesse and his team works is described very details by Issac D. of Stoneham (See his review on Yelp). I have 2 girls and one very young son and i need someone i can trust to do electrical work inside my home and luckily, Jesse and his team gave me that trust. There is small issue of labeling the panel, and Jesse personally re-visited my home and re-did the work up to my full satisfaction. Even now, if there is any issue, big or small, if i call him up, he would re-visit my home again. Most of contractors finished the work, took the check and ran away, but not Jesse. Jesse came out to a three family property in Malden to re-wire the common stairwell and install motion detection lights that turn on whenever someone enters the stairwell. Jesse and his team were incredibly responsive, reasonably priced, and had a high quality of work. He took the time to walk through the project in advance, took detailed notes, and was incredible responsive answering questions and providing guidance on specific light fixtures. Used their services in February of 2016 to put in a new electrical panel and a complete overhaul of the outside wires that are attached to the side of the house. No complaints. Late last night a large tree branch fell onto the wires in the street that connect to my house. Fire Department shuts off electricity. National Grid informs us to call our electrician to connect the wires back onto the house. Call Jesse to let him know of the situation. He is the one that did the work that came down because of the tree. He tells me he is busy because of the long weekend. He also said he doesnt do emergency calls. I asked for his back up plan. He has none. No one that he can professionally refer to as an assistant to situations like mine. So, if your looking for a short term relationship, go for it. If you have a problem that needs immediate assistance of an electrician, don't bother starting a short term relationship that will eventually lead to a break up. read more

So- I was skeptical as I had used the same electrician for 20 years - but my general contractor said they only worked with Jesse (Kuhlman) so...down the rabbit hole we went and there was a lot to contend with. This was a complicated project in an 1852 structure. There were tons of old wires that needed to be traced, blg intercom wires to be sorted, old wiring that need replacing, new wiring that was run - on and on. I could not be happier. First and foremost, I trust them- as electricians and as workmen in my unit when I was not there. They do great work. AND the electrical inspector trusts them and that is a compliment. They come when they say they will. The guys are honest, polite, neat, respectful and move through the job. They are not outside smoking and/or on their phones, they are working. They explain what they are doing, ask if they need input and worked with me to keep expenses down. I was trying to sort out cable and digital antennas and tvs and they helped me deal with all of it. I had to have a scaffold set up for painting and for a chandelier in a 18 ft high ceiling/space and they came when they needed to- to get the chandelier wired and hung.
