Came here on a weekday and the store was maybe 40% stocked. Everything I needed to buy led to an empty shelf.

I am giving this 5 stars because the owner is a big hearted woman who works her butt off and believes in giving local entrepreneurs a chance to establish or grow their business. This is reputed to be the only mom and pop shop left on the island and she is doing her best to fend off the corporations. From what I could tell, the prices are reasonable by Hawaii standards. Maybe everything is not as clean or upscale as the corporates like Safeway, but if you shop here you are supporting not only the family but the other businesses associated with it. The fish selection was better than what we saw at so-called fish markets. We tried some kind of bowl at Anake's Fruit bar, and it was pretty good. There is also an onsite sushi place that I cover in a separate review. Parking is hard but you deal. Support this food store. read more

If you're expecting something very similar to what you see on the mainland as far as small local markets go, think again. This is as homegrown Hawaiian as it gets and I love it. Came here to get açaí bowl before we go back to the mainland hours in yelp said until 630pm and actually only 530!!??. Was so excited to order and walked to the back where the counter was to order and the sign read we are closed . So disappointed . However, in the front of the grocery store I ordered sushi roll and poke nachos and wow!!! Was the best tasting we are since on this island. Hole in the walls are the BEST!!! This place is sooooo yummy. I got a large for $10 it was huge and very filling. I had the Dragon one and it was so special topped with lili koi honey. It was the perfect combo of flavors. 5 stars for service, the young lady was so sweet I changed my mine twice and she was pleasant throughout. 5 stars for quality and flavor 5 stars for the cost! I absolutely loved this Market! It's very lowkey and hidden with excellent food. I was yelping around trying to find a good Acai bowl and truthfully, the prettiness of photos convinced me to come here. When I arrived at the market, I was so overwhelmed whether to get saved ice or the Acia bowl... or another poke bowl after I just ate.. or Mexican food?! There are so many different shops to get food or dessert, I'd definitely check this market out on an empty stomach. It's local venders and I'm all about it!!! I ended up getting what I came for and absolutely no regrets. I got the #1 Acai bowl on the menu, one of the most popular ones at Anakes Juice Bar. The Acai bowl was sooo fresh topped with giant blueberries and blackberries. This is probably one of the best ones I've had in Hawaii. Highly recommend! Came here to browse and checked out the Farmers Market today. Market area was very quiet with only a handful of shops open. Few people walking around. I expected the area to be this deserted being that we are going through the Coronavirus pandemic. Shops are slowly opening, did get to browse in a few. There was an item I liked, inquired about the price but decided it was a bit to expensive. Asked if the particular shop had kaamaina rates they said no. Walked towards the side parking lot for the farmers market. The tables were way far apart, like at least five plus stalls apart. I wasn't about to walk to each one. Some were located way across the parking lot. I figure it must be their social distancing rule. I was hoping it would be in the shop area. The products looked fresh. read more

The store seemed bare but had enough for us us. There are a couple of benches to eat in the back which we used . There wasn't much to buy since this was the time Kauai closed off the island from COVID visitors . Not much to get excited about here but in better time , I'm sure it has more to offer. read more

Great selection of products in this little local grocery store with the Makai Sushi in the front section. After ordering my poke bowl I wandered around in here and was excited to find taro hummus, fresh made energy balls (great to bring hiking!) amongst other natural foods in the back corner, and taro chips for $5 - best price on the island outside of Walmart in Lihue (who are sometimes out of the product anyway!) They also have all of those Hawaiian made hot sauces ($$) if you need to top your food with something spicy! Good service by the folks who work here and line moved quickly even when they're busy. Warning the parking lot needs resurfacing (lots of potholes) and is very narrow - be careful when parking in here! Most people are in and out so there was always a spot when we needed one but lots of tourists/visitors are entitled and impatient and give dirty looks! read more

I wish we knew about this market right when we arrived. Went to a market similar to this one first to buy some essentials for our villa (food, beer). We heard about Kukuiula Market from a local and then went there to find some fresh poke and a few other things. The poke from the stand inside was extremely fresh and tasty. Some of the best poke I've had. Also, their beer prices were more reasonable than the previous market we went to. Also, there is a fresh smoothie and acai bowl place inside here that has some of the best acai bowls you will ever have. So good! read more

I ordered the Berry Blue and I couldn't stop drinking it. It was DELICIOUS! One of the best berry drinks I ever had. I really didn't expect it to be this good since it didn't have sherbet or anything like Jamba usually has. It was quite filling as well. I hope I can get back to this place in the future! read more

Quite short on supplies and very expensive even in Kauai terms, about 25% to 40% compares to other small markets in the area.

This mom and pop shop has amazing fresh local meat and fish! They have local goods from salt, honey, hot sauce to even soap and skincare. looking for some vegan products or dairy free yogurt? They have it. Don't forget to grab coffee and a bagel or an açaí bowl in the back of the store and poke bowls in the front. one of my favorite grocery stores where I can trust fresh meat and fish :) read more

I did not sample the to go food which most people reviewed as being fantastic so this review was really about the grocery store side, which is fairly bare and overall lacking in selections for pretty much any staples or fresh fruits and vegetables. There was literally five bread offerings on the shelf when I went and virtually no eggs or dairy. There were a few steaks in the meat, section and pork, but no chicken and no fish. A small grocery store in the middle of the hotels/condo area. The produce weren't all that exciting but the great thing was they carried organic products which was just GREAT!! We bought a bunch of stuff to BBQ and for breakfast and though it wasn't cheap, we were happy that we were able to find this stuff slap in the middle of nowhere. read more

This market is off the chain! Not necessarily for the market itself but for all it entails. I'm like what???? I wish we had a place like this in Cali! Inside the market is the highly Yelp rated Juice bar that had bomb açaí bowls, Thai food, sushi place, and Brazilian jiu jitsu school! Dayum, that's dope! Not to mention outside the market there is a highly Yelp rated shave ice place (closed so will go back), Da Crack Mexican food (delish) & coffee stand. Parking lot is small & limited parking but otherwise it's a one stop shop for me. What a dream come true! read more

Don't let this somewhat run down looking all things market scare you away, this place will become your friend when you in this area are hanging out on the south shore of Kauai. First off, the parking situation here is a little bit of a war zone. They share parking with Da Crack stand and Outfitters Kauai so it's full of cars constantly trying to back in and out of this little spot. Don't fret just put on your Kauai hat and chill till you get to your landing. Next, the people here are the nicest people ever. I don't know if they are the owners or not because I haven't asked but they sure seem to act like they are. This market has everything you are looking to pick up without having to drive to Kaloa. They have everything that you may need from pineapple juice to just needing a bag of chips to go with your avocado. It's literally an island lifesaver. What is most impressive to me are their organic fruits and vegetables they sell here. They try to get everything on island and you can tell that everything looks super fresh. For example I bought daikon sprouts and they stayed fresh for over a week. When there are no farmers markets nearby this place will have your basics to tide you over. They also have a lot of different alcohols to make those special Hawaiian cocktails, things like orange curacao, orgeat and all kinds of rums including the famous Koloa Rum Company. They also have a good assortment of beers. If you are looking for a lunch that will not break the pocketbook then this is your place to go to. They have a mini salad bar that is very reasonable and has the basics to make yourself up with a salad to go. They have a Hawaiian poppy seed dressing that was awesome. They also host a lot of small great businesses there that serve great diverse foods such as Anake's Juice Bar, Makai Sushi Bar, and the newly formed So Thai. These options alone is worth the 5 stars honestly. I am noticing the island is going more big company and corporate with the some new business that are are sprouting up in the area. This place is a must to support if you want to combate that. I think most of us would like to have Kauai stay more like the Hawaii of yesteryear and so you've gotta love that the Kukuilua Market is doing just that. Therefore I am a regular when in town and so grateful this place exists. read more

I am so annoyed that I came to this place. The prices here are outrageous. I just spent $60 for 2 different kinds of fish. I went to The Big Save Koloa market around the corner and spent $12 each for the EXACT same thing. The fish Is fine but not anything special for them to charge that much. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of tourists like this. Save your money and go somewhere else read more

Support Kauai's local businesses! Kukui'ula Market is only one of two family owned mom and pop food markets. The people are super friendly and helpful and it's the place to find local Kauai food products. If you're in the mood for great sushi and poke or an açaí bowl, you're in luck. In the front of the store is Makai Sushi and in the back is Anake's Juice Bar, amazing juice bar with one of the best açaí bowls I've had in a long time. Kukui'ula market is in Po'ipu and if you're in the neighborhood, is definitely worth a visit. read more
