I Enjoyed a 60min float at Kume! I was warmly greeted by Kim at the front desk, she shared the intro to float video before walking me to my float room. The facility is beautiful and clean they provide everything you need (earplugs, Vaseline if you have a cut to protect it from the concentrated salt water, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion, they even have a blow dry station) only thing I recommend packing is your personal face skincare post float! The actual float tank was very relaxing and transformative once I was able to settle my noisy mind. I've experienced floating in Los Angeles a few years back. I for sure will be returning to Kume for future services. They have great packages and Monthly membership rates to keep your wellness routine on point. read more

I just want to say upfront that everyone who works at Kume is super nice. It's really not the front desk folks' fault that there are some strange things about how this business is run. I don't love writing bad reviews, but it feels important because I initially wrote such a positive review for Kume. After two great first floats, I purchased a 5-pack of floats for $295(+$30 tax). That comes out to $65 per float. When I got out of my first of five sessions, I was told there would be a $5 'service charge' every time I came in. I couldn't find anywhere on their website that said this package would be $25 more than advertised. I complained, and the nice front desk person waived the fees - but yikes. What kind of policy is this? The reason why Kume deleted the service charge was that one time when I came in to float, the tanks couldn't filter. The front desk person and I decided it'd be unsafe for me to float. From what I was told, this is a recurrent issue that they lose connection with their tanks. I asked that they gift me a future session to compensate for the fact that I'd taken time off work, driven to Lake Merrit, and paid for parking, only to find that floating wasn't possible. That request was ignored. I brought it up again yesterday when Kume wanted to charge me these random 'service fees.' I think it's misleading to have random unlisted fees. It makes their services look more affordable than they are. I also think that if their system is broken, they need to call their clients to cancel well in advance or offer comped services to make up for the lost time. read more

My friend and I decided to try flotation therapy based on a mutual friend's recommendation. This was a first with flotation for both of us, so we weren't exactly sure what to expect. I admit to being a bit apprehensive initially. My experience at this facility has alleviated any and all of that trepidation. Hibah was so wonderful in explaining in detail all we needed to do to make our experience a positive one..and it was definitely that. I went here for the cryo therapy, it was my first time. I found it on Groupon and I was like I am going to give it a try. My experience was awesome! The staff was very friendly and cryo was very cold. I went there to heal up an calf injury and I can say that it did not help lol. Actually I could not tell but I did not expect miracles. My body did feel pretty refreshed and ready to work out the next day. I work out a lot and I'm always looking for ways to recover faster. Their cryo machine did greatly help with my fatigue and minor aches and pains. I would just say don't expect it to heal injuries. I am definitely going back. I think this is something great to have in your workout recovery routine like massages, acupuncture, and Epsom salt bath. read more

The Salt Float Therapy was amazing. I suffer from spinal stenosis and am in constant pain. After my 1-hour session I felt immediate relief. I was so relaxed, and all tension was released from my body. I experienced relief for several days afterwards. Jennifer was so helpful with explaining the process and making me feel comfortable about the experience. Realizing that I would be completely submerged in water and my hair would get completely wet, I bought my own shampoo and conditioner specifically for African American hair. I recommend that purchase of a swim cap to keep hair from getting the salt water in it. Just be aware of the policy of bathing and washing your hair before and after the session. read more

Float at Kume! I booked a float session here in one of their pods (the usual cocoon shape common at float spas) - it was lovely and left me feeling relaxed and recharged! The space itself is well-designed and curated for a soothing experiences, with modern decor and shower fixtures and float technology. The 60-minute timer is automated so you can relax until the chill lights illuminate your tank to let you know your session is over. The tanks are spacious and perfectly light-proof and clean. I'm coming back next week to try out their "suite", which as I understand is a different geometry with a little room for floating instead of a pod. The only real constructive feedback I could offer them was that a coat hook would've been nice. Highly recommend! read more

As a big runner, I've come to Kume multiple times to use their compression boots and I just love everything about the spa! Since they are right next to Lake Merritt, I'll usually come post run or walk around the lake and it's the perfect wind down for my legs. It's always extremely clean and well conditioned so the moment I walk in, I am in a chill/relaxed state which sets the tone for the rest of my visit. Every staff member that I have interacted with is super nice and accommodating, which again puts me in a very relaxing mood every time. The room where you sit in to use the compression boots is tucked away so it feels like a very private experience and I always ask to turn the lights off so I can just zone out or take a quick nap. They've got a few other services that I've been meaning to try like the cryo chamber and float tank so I'm sure I'll update my review as soon as I do. For now, l will stick to using the compression boots (until I decide to buy my own) and will keep coming back to Kume! read more

I came here after sustaining a concussion to float as it was recommended as a concussion recovery protocol. I found the facilities fine for the most part (crappy towels, one room's shower stall leaks and door doesn't open and close properly.) The "membership" is more expensive than the Groupon (huh? Why pay for a memebership?), doesn't make much sense but that is indicitive of how this place is managed. After spending $500+ on floats to help heal my concussion, I approached reception to ask if I could somehow purchase a larger package as the cost was becoming prohibitive. They gave me a managers name, Merna, who I emailed and explained my situation to. I suggested paying for a package similar to what reboot float offers (locations in Rockridge and SF), as I preferred to give my business to Kume since they are closer to where I live. Zero response. Followed up 3 times, zero reply. Went in to ask if there was an owner I could speak to, again, to try to GIVE THEM MORE OF MY MONEY. Got another "owner" email, Carrie, no reply. Followed up again, no reply. These people must be price gouging so hard they don't even need my business! That's the life I want. Go here as long as you don't mind overpaying for management who very clearly does not care to reply to customers. Reboot is cheaper and actually replies to their clients. read more

Best hour ever! I love that the bottom of the float tanks are slightly heated so your body doesn't get cold towards the end of the float as I've experienced at other places. The atmosphere is very calming and the staff are very professional and nice. The decor is also soothing and the rooms are very clean. Although it's located right across from Lake Merit and there are lots of people moving around, once you're inside you feel a complete calm and peace all around. Omgoodness!! The infrared sauna is FIRE! What an amazing experience! I love how you can adjust the temperature whenever you need to and there's a face fan!
