Great Japanese food. The quality of the sushi is incredible and top notch, especially for the area. All the rolls I have ordered (spicy tuna, popcorn lobster, crunch, and shrimp tempura) have been exceptionally delicious and fresh. As for the entrees, I particularly enjoyed the chicken teriyaki. The chicken is flavorful and perfectly cooked. Best part: they use the white meat of the chicken. Lastly, one of my favorites is the house salad. It's just oh so good. This place is such a diamond in the rough! There are a handful of sushi places in the area but they're mostly fast-food type or specialize in bento or noodles. This place has such fresh sushi and feels like you're in Little Tokyo or DTLA instead of Compton! Lunch specials are a great deal and regular menu items are fairly priced. Has great raw sushi selection and also cooked Japanese items like bento and rice/noodle dishes. The server and chefs are super nice and friendly! Service was top notch. SUSHI We decided to get the Kumiko Boat (assorted sushi, nigiri and sashimi) but I was stunned by the pure massiveness of the boat! It literally took two tables and EVERYONE stopped and stared as the hostess brought it to our table. Talk about show stopping and beautiful. Granted I've had better sashimi, but those restaurant like Sugar Fish are MUCH more expensive. This is good quality fish at an affordable price. TEA - Green tea with roasted popped brown rice (something along those lines) Very good tea to start the meal plus free refills so I had 3 cups in total. - Iced Thai tea, fiancée stated that it was good but wish it had less ice DESSERT Was recommended by the chef, he stated that I would appreciate the cold, soft sweetness of the ice cream (wasn't expecting green tea ice cream to be so scrumptious) and the warm crunch of the fried banana but I have to say, the contract of salty, sweet, warm, cold, soft and crunchy was wonderful! I'm workin near the area and I'm looking for a new place to have sushi! Though the business is fairly new, I figured I would check it out and I'm glad I did!! So I pull up and the area is pretty ghetto! (No offense to anyone who lives in the area) So the location is a bit odd for such a nice place, but thankfully they have their own parking lot. We were greeted at the door and sat down. I believe it is a family owned restaurant and the family takes pride in their restaurant. Everyone who worked there were extremely kind and such warm people. They gave us menus and brought our drinks. We ordered baked mussel (which I don't believe is on the menu), two lunch specials and a roll (which I wish I remember the name of). They brought us miso soup which was yummy, then the baked mussel (which I'm sooo happy that they brought it out before everything else because I find it weird when they bring out the baked mussel after the main dish). Then they brought out our lunch, allll service with a smile. They were always checking in on us, filling out drinks, and making sure anything we were done with was cleared. Also, the food tasted wonderful. It was so fulfilling and delicious! Like I said, the location is a bit odd, but this is seriously a great spot! Service is beyond top notch and the food is delicious. This cute and quaint Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away within Compton. There is a diverse menu with a wide variety of Japanese cuisine to try out! I went with Combo A (an entree and a side of your choice) with salmon teriyaki as my entree and salmon roll as my side, monkey balls, and an additional spicy tuna roll. The salmon teriyaki was truly the winner here! Loved the sauce that was used for the salmon and the salad had such an interesting dressing that made it enjoyable. The monkey balls were really fresh and delicious but kinda pricey at $6.95 for those four half pieces. As for the sushi, kinda surprised at how much I felt indifferent about it. The salmon roll was good but felt like there was an off ratio between fish and rice (too much rice). As for the spicy tuna roll, this was a little disappointing for me because it didn't taste like a standard spicy tuna. The texture of the fish felt weird and I ended up not finishing it. But giving the benefit of the doubt on the sushi because I got basic rolls while other reviews have conplemented their more fancier rolls! Regardless, I had a pretty good experience here and I wouldn't mind coming back to explore the other options they have to offer on their menu. Oh and free miso soup with check-in! read more

I was thoroughly surprised with this restaurant. It is absolutely delicious, clean, quality and with amazing service. I live right down the street and this is what we need in the neighborhood. I disagree with the other reviews that this is a horrible area, it's not Beverly Hills but it's not bad and the home owners in the area have great pride about living here. What our neighborhood lacks are really good restaurants and this does the job. I ordered the chirashi bowl which was overloaded with very fresh sashimi, wow! My wife ordered the yakisoba noodles and they were out of sight. The meal was well priced and just hands down awesome, just look at my photo!
