I placed a large order for a company event. I called it in a couple days early and followed up early on the day of delivery. The food was ready on time and the chef and some employees helped load it into my car. At our event, several of my employees were asking me where I got the food from. It was very fresh and delicious. There are menus set up outside for viewing so once you walk in you go straight to the register to order. You can sit anywhere and they will ask if it is to go or dine in. Kumiko is definitely a diamond in the rough. My first visit there a couple of years ago made me a little leery of sushi in the hustle and bustle of Compton, where I may be more inclined to pick up tacos or burgers. Sushi?? Can it be trusted? I can literally eat sushi every other day. I don't but, I could. The first time I came here, I made the mistake of not ordering ahead. I waited a long time. I was irritated since I was on my lunch. But, I realized it was my fault. There's no indoor dining. The first time I came, it was pouring rain. I came the second time and they had tents and tables set up outside. It was cute. You have to order inside first and take your stuff outside to eat. I got the sashimi and sushi bento the first time. I was shocked how fresh the fish tasted. And how much food it came with. I was feeling a little extra that day and also ordered a hand roll and an order of ikura. It also came with Miso soup. I got the sashimi lunch special and it was just enough. Again, it was tasty and fresh. And they're so nice. I've only been there once and the lady inside remembered me! When I'm craving sushi at work, I'll come have it here! I was driving down Long Beach street when I noticed a man waiving with a big smile pointing in. So I checked what it was and it was a Sushi/ Japanese restaurant. This is the only close by Japanese restaurant I know around the area. The surrounding is ghetto. But I appreciate something like this opening close to work. Since normally we order or have to drive far for Japanese food. They have their own parking lot, the restaurant is really decorated nicely. Very clean and the owner is very attentive , friendly and welcoming!! They sadly dont have any to go menu. But it was nice to dine in. The wait and price were as usual with this type of food. I ordered an eel roll and a salmon roll for almost 50 dollars. To my surprise, upon taking the first bite, the taste of rotten fish overwhelmed me. I went directly back to to the restaurant with my food nearly untouched. The owner of the restaurant proceeds to slam my plates into the garbage without inspection and offered to remake it. I declined his request and asked for a refund. He then refused to give a refund.
