Easy to find and even easier to find parking since it's in The Domain.Upon entering they have activities like a fortune teller, outside area with games, and photo ops. The place is very sleek and modern looking and the interior is clean. There are a lot of games inside and a central bar that keeps the drinks rolling. We ordered a few drinks, all of which were good, nothing crazy but good. The real fun here is in all the surrounding games. From skeeball to basketball to pong, there is something for everyone and when you're a few drinks in it becomes even more fun. The live DJ was a plus as good music kept rolling throughout our time there and the fun atmosphere was very palpable. They even have a photo booth so you can commemorate the night forever (or don't, your choice). We've been to Kung Fu Saloon multiple times and whether it's a night where you want to sit down and just talk or get into a few games, it has always been a good time and we recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, casual experience. read more

Kung Fu Salon, it's been a while....I came in to this location last Sunday with a friend. We were the only customers in the location so needless to say, the service was prompt. Many from Central TX are familiar with spot as there are locations in Houston, Dallas, the North Austin/Domain area. This location in the Domain is like the others in that there are free unlimited old school games for adults like skee-ball, pinball, arcade games, etc. The bar has a laid-back feel and features 24 beers on tap and a specialty Sake bomb menu. Conversely....Texans may recognize this bar's name from some controversy it's generated over the years. The bar chain came under heavy scrutiny for what potential guests insisted were racist door-management policies. Given the furor this generated, it was probably easy to overlook that the Kung Fu Saloon was repeatedly investigated by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) over the years (Yowzah). Controversy aside, this place may be worth a visit if you come early and have the place to yourself. When the bar is full, service is often slow but drinks are still poured with a heavy hand. Walked in on a weekend day around 1:30PM and it was pretty empty. Bartenders were nice and helpful. There's so many different games you can play, and lots of seating inside. We got a marg and ranch water, which were average. Cinnamon toast crunch shots were nice. The bathroom was super clean and nice! My husband and I stopped in for a drink while in the domain. I ordered an Austin Eastcider and my husband got a beer. We asked about the cost of games and one of the other people said that skeeball was free. The cost of games I think was a quarter or two. My husband and I played three rounds of skeeball and I of course won. It is something I am ok with for once. They do have some random board games out like big Jenga and connect four. There is also a see-saw out on the patio. Overall it was a fun place but while we were there it tended to trend towards a younger crowd in their early 20s. read more

Fun place for drinks. A handful of local microbrews, a full bar, nostalgic arcade games and skee ball. They also have a good outdoor patio. Service was good, but food was just so-so. We had the entire place reserved for a private party of about 100 people and the drink service was able to accommodate us, but the food buffet fell flat a couple of times and was empty. The arcade games were all set on free play for our private party, but I asked one of the bartenders if they were always set that way and they told me they were not. They also had "giant Jenga" available at most of the patio tables. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and the place was clean - even the bathrooms. So we decided to visit Kung Fu after being across the street at 77 Degrees rooftop. If I remember correctly I was carded? I know they have a job to do at the front door but really? After entering the music was upbeat and there was a nice crowd, not too crowded. I made my way to the bar and was immediately waited on. The drinks were ok not as strong as I would have like but I have had better. As we only stayed for that one drink, it was not a bad time and I would return. There is a Kung Fu in Houston and i visited before coming to Austin to have something to compare to but I never went in as they were asking $10 to park! I guess I won't be visiting there. read more

A few arcade games are set out around the perimeter of the bar. Cool little bar with some arcade machines and giant jenga in their patio. They were playing some really good music inside and if you wanted to have a conversation you can step onto their patio and be able to hear each other, but still listen to music. The bartenders were busy so not much smiling was going on and that great customer service I look for, but if you think about it that's when they should be the friendliest so they can get better tips when it's a full house. There's no cover which was nice. I can't speak for parking because I took a lyft. On another chill Sunday I could see myself here having a few drinks. They could also improve by having waitresses come outside to the patio. I think I would have stayed longer or bought more drinks if someone was coming to me instead of me having to go in every time. Was assaulted by off duty employee taking shots of tequila at the bar saying "you gotta go" tried walking out and he blocked my path, when I tried walking past he attempted to put me in a choke hold and when he realized he couldn't take me down I was then tackled by two on duty bouncers. Very unsafe setting for people trying to have a good time. I spoke to the police and apparently this guy is a known problem at the bar so I have no idea why management keeps him around. I'm excited that places like this still exist. I wish it was done better. Surrounded by many other restaurants in the Domain, Kung Fu Saloon has their niche in arcades but focused entirely too much on the "fast" food and sports bar vibe. We stepped in and got the Nashville chicken sandwich, tater tots, steak tacos, asian chicken salad, and tater tots to share. While waiting for our food, we were able to get a couple games of checkers and connect four in with provided tabletop games. Pros: Arcades, Free Soda, Finger Food, Super Mario Photo Set-up, Tabletop games, Bathroom Drink holders, tons of TV's playing assorted games, interesting decor. Cons: 1.) It took over 20 minutes to receive our order while there were few people ordering food. A little bit of leeway given as they were actively hiring cooks and may be short-staffed. 2.) The food was over saturated in grease, sauce and oil. I picked up my sandwich using a napkin and it was fully orange and tearing apart. I wouldn't classify it as a "glaze" anymore at that point. Each tater tot had to be pressed against a napkin. 3.) One of the change machines was broken and known to be broken with no sign that any fix was on way. 4.) Only one bartender with no servers. Leeway given again as we went during Saturday lunch hours. Hoping there is more staff around during evening hours. read more

Just left this place today. Some manager came towards me and a group of friends with cops and kicked us out. I asked what happened and what did we do. He just kept repeating "y'all have to go. Y'all have to go!" My friends and I were all beyond confused as to why the manager was so upset. He approached another group of people and stated the same thing. We kept asking the cops what happened? The cops stated to us that this manager does this often and they just have to do what they are told. It was just a horrible humiliating and embarrassing experience with no expectations as to what we could've done to upset him so much. read more

This place is very discriminatory. I went on a Sunday Afternoon. I was admitted with a group of friends. It was Sunday Funday, so everyone was in relaxed gear (Hoodies & Sweatpants.) After about an hour of being in there the security guard that admitted us in approached me and said that there was a dress code and that what I was wearing was out of dress code. I asked him what I was wearing and he could not advise of what was different that what everyone was wearing. He just said "What you are wearing, gesturing with disdain" Everyone was wearing hoodies or t-shirts, sweatpants or joggers, jeans and tennis shoes, and for some reason, which I'm sure I can identify, I was "out of dress code", and I didn't have on a hoodie. I was wearing the same attire as everyone else, however mines was simply of "brighter, and louder colors". It is located right in the middle of the Domain and has delicious drinks that will help you get competitive no matter what game you want to play. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, they have bowels of water so you can bring your favorite 4 legged friend. Inside they have several very large TV screens that would be great to watch college football or Sunday NFL games. I would prefer they put the Bachelor on those screens on Monday nights but that is just me. The bar has both great beers as well as many liquor drinks to choose from. They serve Deep Eddie Vodka drinks as well as many local beers and other items to choose from. They have a ton of different games to choose from. I have always looooved this bar, up until last nights experience. The music is fun, drinks are good! My wife is a veteran & we were out with all her army friends before they all go overseas. This was the first bar we had gone to as a crowd. We were stopped by the bouncer to check our ID, fine. But then the bouncer (guy with dreads), literally stood over, hovering over my friend. She is clearly much shorter than him and started questioning her like "what's wrong with you? Are you good?" Fine, do your job and make sure if she's okay, but don't hover the way you were hovering. It made ME uncomfortable just watching. As he was doing it I turned to my wife and said "why's he standing over her like that" and went to hand him my ID. I guess he heard me and goes "Cuz it's my job and I can do that" and starts shoo'ing me away like a fly, to get out of his sight & says "you're not getting in, bye" WTFFFFF He literally stops me and kicks me out of the bar before I even get in!!! The other bouncer goes "I guess you're too drunk". I said "WITH WHAT DRINKS????? This is my first bar!" We stood out there for 5 mins or so listening to the guy lie about how I was so disrespectful and "just trash". These were his words. I was shook at this behavior! F*** that! This review is in regards to a person validating ids I am a resident at domain and come to Kung fu quite often. I was visiting kung fu with my girl friends and since my id was with my fiance, I carried my passport. The guy checking for ids was probably drunk himself as he refused to allow me with my passport claiming it was not me. Not even like show some other id. How ridiculous? We were there for my bachelorette party. Well kung fu it's just really your loss! We just had so much more fun at other places around. You just lost regular visitors! I am not at all a fan of the 5th street location as it is way to fratty for my taste, however, this location seems to be their more mature counterpart. We came in for a quick drink and game of shuffleboard and ended up staying almost 2hrs, made friends with a lovely Canadian couple, found one of our fav bartenders on Rock Rose and even got to "bong the gong". It is still the same fun ambiance with nice, stiff drinks at semi-reasonable prices an "up for anything" crowd, but for some reason, here it felt more like controlled chaos rather than just chaotic! Will definitely be back, especially since I found my fav Jameson and pickle juice chaser in ATX here! read more
