I had a special engagement at the Kung Fu Saloon last week, where our conference group had basically rented the entire place out for a couple of hours so that we could all go there, have some drinks, eat a bit of food, and generally be social to each other and perhaps get some networking done. Drinks were decent, and I had my customary cider. The food that rolled out were your basic sliders and tacos, which were good, and frankly the sliders were getting mobbed. A tray of them would come out and be gone in a minute flat. The place looks like it could be a fun place to be, but I noticed the clientele after we were done were a bit ragged. This place was not the business on a late Friday night, I was expecting much more. Got there around midnight, plenty of people but we got in immediately. The outside patio was packed like sardines, so my friends and I opted to stay inside. Would I really consider this place a "barcade"? No. It has some arcade games, but there were hardly any. All of them were lined up against the wall and no one was playing because it was so crowded. Music was pretty bad. They played some of my jams, but the transition between each song and the "mixed versions" threw me off. People would dance for about 30 seconds then stop because we're all confused what happened to song. You just kind of dance wherever you can find space. Had to be careful of broken glass on the floor that was not entirely cleaned up. Lastly, the freaking GONG! I swear, every few minutes the bartenders would bang the gong. WHY?! If you come here before it gets too crazy on a Friday or Saturday night it's really not a bad place to hang out. Cheap or free games like skee ball are scattered throughout the bar. They have a small patio area with games like Jenga. Most of the drink prices around the domain are a little high. The drinks here are just ok. A few times I've visited they've been out of particular liquors I was looking for but the bartenders were working quickly. read more

This was my first visit and I will be back. This is a chill bar where you can play old school games with a group of friends. It can get noisy especially when people play the Jenga game. They have flat screen tv's around the bar and in the outside area. It starts to get crowded around 1:30pm on Sunday's. They have a small selection of food items that I think are overpriced. The bartender took my order at the bar and a server brought it to me. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with a side of seasoned fries. The food was good, but the cheesesteak was dry with a lot of cheese. I do like the fact that the fountain drinks are free. On Sunday's the video games are also free! read more

I was in the Domain area and heard they had opened up a Kung Fu Saloon here. I was familiar with the concept(arcade/bar)with social games for their customers to play. I loved the new contemporary look compared to other locations and the staff was really cool. We loved the the selection of classic arcade games as well! They have PUNCH OUT and Double Dragon!! That alone elevates the score to 4 stars lol! No but seriously, the crowd was cool and there's plenty of room to kick back and enjoy the energy of the place. While I was playing Double Dragon next to the kitchen window I saw tray after tray of delicious looking finger foods and eats being brought out and they smelled amazing! Too bad I was already full from eating earlier, otherwise I would have indulged my senses! Their beverages are a bit pricey but then again look at the location and convenience. It's gonna be pricier than your average dive bar around town. Hopefully more competition will pop up to boost drink specials and cheaper prices but it's not all that bad. Lots of outdoor space to play Jenga and Connect Four as well..looks like a great place to meet and make new friends. My only complaint is that they don't have a legit Street Fighter 2 machine. Completely horrible experience. I was out with my boyfriend and his childhood friend who has Aspergers, and also a disease called Blepharitis which causes your eyes to appear red, Irritated, and scaly. This is also his first time ever attempting to go to a bar in his life. We arrive to Kung fu, and the bouncer immediately gives him a hard time about his eyes. When he tries explaining his condition to the bouncer, he interrupts him and says he can't be let in because of the dress code, he was wearing a tank top. My boyfriend immediately takes off his blazer and says his friend will wear it, but the bouncer refuses and says "he'll just take it off." My boyfriend obviously doesn't accept this outrageous excuse and the bouncer proceeds to tell my boyfriend and his friend that they're not welcome, but let's me know I am, indirectly but clearly stating it was due to my gender. The entire situation stressed out my boyfriend's friend while we just trying to have a good night out. The staff here is clearly prejudiced, and has predetermined ideas about people, and feels no need to consider possibilities of people's situations. He was on the phone and seemed drunk upon arrival so we thought he was just another person. He snatched our IDs out of our hands and kept questioning our names when he clearly handed us back our cards. He was going to make me pay for a new one, even knowing it wasn't my fault. The Dr Pepper was flat and he didn't care about anything. He needs to take a shower and wash his hair. this place is super crazy on sundays. i did see a couple girls writing 1 star reviews of a picture girl and guy saying this place drugs people. i'd love to see a roll back of the tape because it's simply not true. the people who work here put up with a lot of bullshit on sundays. the sunday crowd is insane. visit on a sunday and it speaks for itself. these girls who wrote the 1 star review wasnt even the girl who had an issue with the place... the girl who had a bad experience had a misunderstanding with the bartender and what was said when it was crazy loud. i work in the industry and it's super hard to hear over loud music. accusing a business of pill popping someone's drinks is a serious frickin allegation and if that was the case this place would be shut down immediately. Yyves had a bad experience and it happens in business. You can't please every single person and sometimes a misunderstanding happens. It's just life. Met up for a friend's birthday and had a couple beers while here. Not an impressive beer menu, and the fact that its divided into "light, medium, dark" with things not even fitting into those broad categories properly gives a pretty good idea of how much thought they put into organizing and curating it. There is also no cocktail menu and there are about 5 things to choose from on the food menu, none of which sound appetizing in writing or looked appetizing in person. Server was disengaged and not interested and seemed more like a carrier of items from point A to point B than she was in being friendly or helpful. Overall, its a very basic, thoughtless bar with video games, minimal actual drink selections, below average service and food, a poor reputation, and I can't say I'd like to get a cocktail at a bar that has no cocktail menu, despite them having a "full bar" unless I'm ready for some sour mix thrown in there. read more

I've been to the other Kung Fus in Austin, Dallas and Houston and this one is by far the worst. Even though it looks mostly the same as the others it just feels cheaply done and a step down from the rest. Especially coming from across the street at Dogwood, this place just felt like a step down. I was pretty disappointed. The best parts were the free skeeball and shuffleboard but other than that, nothing special. Drinks were ok but again, compared to other locations they didn't seem as strong as normal. After making more friends and chatting about the basketball gsme with even more people, I was introduced to the FAMOUS PORN PEEP HOLE. I took my coat off for 3 reasons 1) it was so incredibly hot and uncomfortable zipped up in my coat. 2) Girls were showing all kinds of skin 3) The dress code becomes obsolete when you play porn like a Men's Bathhouse. The bouncers (3 different occasions) were just doing their job but called the police when I explained that I was doing nothing wrong and their policy was ridiculous thanks to the porn and the humid heat. I explained myself clearly and politely. I even mentioned that I understood it was not the bouncer's policy nd that managment was the issue. I politely refused to leave again when the newest bouncer approached me and this young man did NOT like that. I suggested he contact the police thinking my morals would win out or at least bring the discrimination to a mediator. I am the first person to say that the discrimination I received is trivial when compared to immigrants, refugees, muslims, transgender people, my black and brown family and friends. Wrong is wrong. Dress codes are discriminatory and serve one purpose - discriminate to ensure we dont have "those" people around. In this case Kung Fu lost all credibility in their dress code argument when employees or management decided to play porn for all to see. read more

I was that friend who was watching the baseball game instead of drinking a lot but kudos to the fact there's flat screens on every wall space just like BWW. I came here on New Years Eve, so my experience might not be the typical one. The positive things I have to say about this arcade/bar is the Kim chi tots are on point and the dj does his job well. Loved the mix and occasional gongs throughout the night. I've noticed that on days that aren't too busy, you could bring a group of friends to play an array of games- giant Jenga blocks, connect four, and of course the old school looking arcade games. read more

Horrible experience. My friends went to The Domain's Rock Rose to celebrate a friend's birthday. We decided to check-out Kung Fu Saloon because it looked like a cool place. We were a party of 4 and my friend was first to approach the bouncer. The bouncer denied him entry saying his attire did no meet their dress code. My friend was wearing a black polo, 3/4 length khakis, and leather shoes. The bouncer tried to explain that his pants were too baggy and went below the knees. Our party was a little shocked but decided to let it go and decided to go to Dogwood across the street. Now Dogwood has roof-top bar and the evening was nice. Coincidentally, the roof-top bar overlooked Kung Fu Saloon. As we enjoyed our drinks, we observed 2 interesting things. 1st, a gentleman wearing cargo shorts well below his knees was allowed entry into Kung Fu Saloon. No question nor hesitation by the doorman. 2nd, another gentleman was wearing a sports jersey (#7) came with his buddies. They approached the doorman and were denied entry. They walked away and appeared to be talking when another doorman came up to them, said something, and then escorted the gentleman wearing the jersey and his friends into Kung Fu Saloon. Kung Fu Saloon apparently chooses who they want into their establishment and who they do not want. I really felt that we were mistreated because of my friend's attire. When I did a search to learn more about Kung Fu Saloon, I came upon a lot of similar experiences from other individuals and I am not surprised (you can do a Google search). I am glad that this establishment did not allow us in now...I would not want to spend my hard-earned money in such a place. I will repeat it again, horrible experience! I was never a huge fan of the one downtown, but I decided it was worth checking out their much larger and more convenient twin up north. The space is large and they have a lot more space and arcade games than I would have expected. I wanted to play skee ball and I did, however the machines weren't keeping score at all when I went. I hope that is fixed. The patio is large and of course it it is pretty much the same as downtown in terms of the large jenga games, pickle juice shots and incredibly loud music. They had a DJ the night I went and they were playing some great fun 90s tunes, however the music was just way WAY too loud. It was borderline laughable and completely unnecessary. We had to go outside to speak to each other. I hope they fix that, because it's not like this is a bar to dance at and this is a residential area. Decent draft beer selection and prices are reasonable (for the Domain). Unfortunately, we order same drinks with different people house drinks nothing special and they charge us differently first round was 1 dollar high then later 1 dollar less. Same thing happened with the shots I ordered was one round and they charge X and then my friend ordered the same round they charge differently again. Had gone to Kung Fu Saloon for the second time yesterday and it was mostly ok except for a few things. Super loud music but it was pretty decent. Tone it down a little? Enough for people to order drinks and food? Arcade games are free on Sunday which is pretty awesome. Too bad they dont carry the deals or the same atmosphere like the one on West 6th St. My first bartender was the guy with a beard and he was pretty awesome. Nice and courteous. My second bartender was this lady with blonde-ish hair. She was rude. I love how she just told me, "You know it's going to be $10." In a condescending way as though I couldnt pay for it. Almost right up and left but I was with a group already. And of course she makes it for me with a splash of alcohol. Lovely $10! She also made my friend's vodka with pineapple juice with a splash of vodka. While we were outside the waitresses kept bothering us. We had drinks already but they kept asking if we needed more every 2 minutes. Hello, there are 5 drinks on the table. Needless to say we walked to Dogwood and carried on from there. I don't usually write reviews for clubs but management should know how well the door guy Donald handled an altercation on Sunday 12/18/17. Belligerent patron wants to fight another group, security quickly got in there and asked belligerent patron to leave, which he does but he stands outside the club and continues to harass the party still inside. The club has little say on what happens on the side walk but Donald went outside and started speaking nicely to this guy and started walking with him away from the club. Every interaction with bouncers usually ends up being a heated mess, the weekend before I watched some tacky looking guy at a bar across the street with too many buttons undone push one of their customers out of the club making him even more upset and escalating the situation. We need more bouncers like Donald who have the right mind to de-escalate. read more

He asked us to keep quiet "inside" when we were outside like are you an idiot?He also told another coworker that he knew us when he thought something was happening so everything was chill until the questions came out. Music is WAY TOO LOUD. The management doesn't care for the residents and other establishments in the area. Blasting the music as loud as possible that you can't even think let alone hold a conversation in there. Even if you go to jack and gingers next door you can still here the loud annoying music and still cannot hold a decent conversation. The bartenders also gave me a bad experience. They rather hold their own conversations rather make tips and provide good service. Took over ten minutes to get one drink when FOUR of the bartenders were standing around talking having their own conversation with one another rather than doing their job. The way I see it. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. The management and staff don't care for your business and rather drive you away by giving terrible service and playing music WAY TOO LOUD! read more
