One of the few places in the domain with an upstairs patio and does not turn the whole bar into a club.... At least when the sun is out. Cell Service is really bad here, i could not even look up what food items they had. It is one of those places that charge a bit more for Guinness from a can at $8. The patio has a great vibe and since it wasn't crowded, our group was able to spread out, relax, and actually enjoy each other without yelling over noise. We've been to Dogwood a few times at this point so it's strange we never got around to reviewing it because it really is a good bar. We've come on nights out and gamedays alike and there always seems to be a good energy and amount of people here. They have both downstairs and rooftop options if you like a little elevation as well as tabletop seating outside. It's also pretty conveniently located from the red and pink garages (but drive safely). To us, the nicest thing about Dogwood is the casual vibe it always has, the bartenders are always friendly and it doesn't have a wild vibe but is definitely an energy step up from the pub down the street. I love that there are events hosted here, even allowing dogs outside. To us Dogwood is that middle ground, not too flashy like Wonder Bar or Kung Fu Saloon, but more energy than Jack & Ginger's. It's the ultimate night starter or night ender depending on where you want your night to go. Either way the drinks are good and we've never had a bad experience here making it one of our bigger casual go tos. read more

First time to Dogwood. Came here with some girlfriends for a bite and drinks. It's was nicely decorated for the holidays. The televisions had different sports playing. The music was great. A good mix from the 70's to current. Bathrooms needed some work for sure. Or be checked on more often. Did not feel clean leaving the ladies room. Not sure if they were understaffed but we saw 4 servers behind the bar. 1 gentleman and 3 females. People that sat after us, that were men were serviced before my friends and I. It was not crowded or busy at all. We had to literally ask for help 3 times. Was very disappointing. The sliders came out. Very subpar. They had the taste and texture of a Krystal or White Castle burger. The fries were nice and hot but tasted like someone had put lime juice on them. Did not finish them. Uncertainty if will be back since so many other places around that we have been to that has much better service, friendlier staff and better food. read more

Food was fresh and tasty - especially for bar food! We had mozzarella balls, burger and the fried chicken sliders. The mozzarella balls were excellent with exception of marinara sauce to dip in. That had zero flavor and was runny. The burger was fresh and cooked perfect. The chicken sliders were super spicy, but excellent flavor! No table service - have to order at bar and they deliver. Came here for a happy hour with my coworkers. It was my first time here. There's so much space here and the location is great, you couldn't ask for a better location. I came on a Thursday night and the later it got the DJ came and set up and it was even more fun. I didn't try the food but the drink were great. The Dogwood at The Domain is an establishment that allows its staff to treat customers of color like second-class citizens and then has the audacity to belittle them when they dare to speak up about it. I came to this bar to have a good time. Instead, when I had the nerve to complain about another patron's behavior, the staff turned on ME. Rather than address the actual problem, they dismissed me, talked down to me, and made it crystal clear that my comfort and safety were simply not their concern. The racism wasn't subtle, it was bold, unapologetic, and apparently endorsed by everyone on shift that night. This is the kind of place that rolls out the welcome mat for the wrong people and slams the door in the face of anyone who calls it out. The staff aren't just unhelpful -- they're actively hostile to customers of color who assert themselves. That is not a vibe problem. That is not a training issue. That is a culture problem, and it starts at the top. Save your money. Save your dignity. The second floor is really nice, views of the street and a bar in the middle of the roof. There is a covered area with cozier seating and uncovered areas with metal chairs. Restrooms were clean, it definitely gets busy and loud the later it gets and the worst kind of drinkers come here at night. Lots of yelling and fighting and people overly drunk, the bouncers do nothing to try to control the atmosphere. Bartenders act like it's annoying to serve you and hold long conversations with others and neglect tending to the other customers. We got beers and they tasted good, but it is a more expensive bar for the area. You get carded at the door no matter the time of day so don't;t forget your ID. read more

Came here for a roof-top meet-up with friends. The best part about this place is that it is pet-friendly. So we were able to get our dogs to the roof-top but an outdoor seating. The drink menu - cocktails were great. Got a beer though. You could play Jenga but our tables were around the fire-pit so we couldn't play. People were friendly and we get to have a plate of fries. My job recently had a happy hour here and it turned out great! The food was very good! They have this platter with sliders, mozzarella bites, popcorn chicken, and tater tots. That is amazing! the vegetable platter with hummus was also good and the salsa was perfectly spiced! I had a great old-fashioned and whiskey sour! I love when the bartender asks you what type of liquor you like your drink! The bartenders and servers were amazing attending to not only us, but those in the bar not a part of our happy hour! The music definitely could be better, but we were there on a Tuesday around 5 o'clock, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since I've been there on a Saturday night where the rooftop is slapping! First time here, really don't like writing bad reviews :( went to the roof to get a drink, my bf and I ordered two margaritas. They tasted like sugar water.... By the way we are not picky... we respectfully asked for them to be re-made and the bartender girl gave us very sarcastic attitude and you could tell she was so annoyed she didn't even want to speak to us. She then proceeded to pour the SAME drinks into a shaker and added something to make them sour. We get them back. They definitely WERE less sweet. Half way through my drink I see a dead fly at the bottom. Honestly would never get drinks here again. Extremely rude and disgusting drinks. Wouldn't way $1 for those lol. So gross. My 2 of my friends said their cocktails were average but I didn't get any drinks myself so I can't add to that. My husband and I stopped at this bro convention bar apparently called The dogwood. We decided to go upstairs and a guy was checking IDs of the young group in front of us. We proceed to walk upstairs and the ID checker asked my husband "are you trying to be slick? I need to see your ID" wtf? My husband let this kid know that no he wasn't being slick but he is over 21 twice over. He could be his dad! Lol That didn't make him happy but he did let us upstairs. My husband was very irritated by that kid so we stayed for one drink. While having our drink we could get a nice view of the street where we saw a motorcycle cop messing with his bike and his helmet came crashing down. Also the drinks here were more expensive compared to some of the other bars. The rest of the scene upstairs was bros and girls in tiny outfits. I will pass next time read more

Went in a few times but the last time I went with my friends in town, this creepy bartender was normal at first then asking me for my number, what turns me on and I was trying to ignore him. He then asked if I had a bf and I said YES! after that he got nasty, ignored us and noticed our bills had at least $20 more in charges of drinks. Went with Hubby to check it out and watch Austin FC game. Walked in early to get seats, sat at the bar. It wasn't full but was great to get started. Unfortunately, the two bartenders ignored us. We waited, to see if someone would say hi something. 10 minutes waiting no one said anything Then finally see bartenders they both go to guy next to us. Get his tab, but again totally ignore us. I never thought I would order food at a bar, yet here we are and surprisingly, it wasn't too bad. If I had to choose a bar on Rock Rose Ave, Dogwood is it. Dogwood is spacious (2 stories, outdoor seating), has 3 bars (2 downstairs, 1 up), and the food is actually savory! I like to order off of the "Hangover Menu" by grabbing 2 Potato Breakfast Tacos and the Texas-Sized Mimosa. The Texas-Sized Mimosa stays true to it's name, it's full of champagne with a little bit of OJ. If you aren't a mimosa drinker, try the Waterloo Classic, which is a true Austin cocktail. It's served with Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka, Watermelon Waterloo Sparkling Water, liqueur, and a squeeze of lime. Super refreshing for these hot sunny days! read more

My experience at dogwood was a mediocre one. They do have a great patio and a rooftop that overlooks rock rose with a great view. The staff wasn't really attentive to us though we had to go out of our way to order drinks. Also the QR code at the table wasn't working as well.
