I was extremely excited to visit this establishment and it did not disappoint! We arrived earlier than our reservation but we were still seated immediately which was appreciated. The restaurant was packed so we were prepared to wait. We ordered the biscuits, braised short rib and the chicken with a pineapple ginger mocktail. Everything except the mocktail was amazing! The short rib was braised for 18 hours which of course fell apart like butter. The chicken was well cooked and extremely flavorful! Stamped right onto the corner of one of the Domain's busiest areas is Paul Martin's, a casual but refined grill featuring American classics such as steaks, burgers, and more. The location is pretty idealic being a 5 min or less walk from two parking garages and many different shopping spots. The interior is nice and modern, cozy feeling too. We made a reservation for an early 5pm dinner on a Tuesday but that was unnecessary as it was empty. As with anything in The Domain, we would still recommend a reservation as places can get packed pretty quickly. Once we were seated we were greeter by our waiter who was outstanding al throughout our service. For an appetizer we opened with the rustic cheddar biscuits which were phenomenal. The biscuit itself is moist enough but it comes with a honey-thyme butter that adds a layer of sweetness mixed in with a pinch of sharpness from the cheddar. Moving onto the entrees we got a filet mignon (medium) with grilled asparagus, blackened ribeye (medium rare) with mashed potatoes, and a side of Mac and cheese. The filet mignon was great, cooked perfectly and very juicy. The grilled asparagus was also decent but would probably be better replaced by other sides. The blackened ribeye was also delicious, a perfect medium rare and juicy all throughout. The mashed potatoes it comes with are on the lighter side with no lumps at all, just very fluffy (and good). Lastly, the mac and cheese was nice and balanced. It comes with a light breadcrumb top and the cheese is gooey but not too thick it drown the macaroni, a good option to eat alongside a small portion like the filet mignon. We also got some truffle butter and garlic herb butter for our steaks and we made a great choice on that as they gave both a bit of pop and added flavor. For a sweet refresher we also got a strawberry lemonade, but it was alright, a lot of seeds towards the bottom giving it some inconsistent textures. We enjoyed our time here a lot. This is the perfect mix of intimate and casual that a steakhouse/grill in the prime of The Domain should be. The service is great and the food is good. The price is even reasonable when you break it down compared to other steakhouses. All in all, Paul Martin's is an everyman's place to go. Slightly elevated but down to earth, good for families and date nights alike. A steady option in a place swamped with choices. read more

I asked for the burger rare plus and they nailed it, juicy, flavorful, and cooked exactly right, which does not always happen. We also tried the chicken sandwich, and while the flavor was good, it leaned pretty salty, and that is coming from someone who loves salt, so just a heads up there. Still very solid overall. Best part, you can pair either sandwich with a glass of Caymus or other cocktails/beer and the total is only $18, which is kind of wild for the quality and setting at the Domain. Great first experience. I visited here for a birthday dinner. They were very accommodating to our group which I loved. We were able to sit in the covered patio area so it wasn't loud or overwhelming. Almost immediately after I was seated, Adriana, our server greeted me. She served water and provided menus. She was very personable and friendly. My friend ordered an Asian noodle salad, Topo Chio water and butter cake (cake to go). Paul Martin's is known for their butter cake. I have it on previous visits - it's buttery, soft, and rather addicting. I ordered the Express Lunch - Steelhead Salmon, garden salad, and Brussel sprouts (substituted out for quinoa). My aunt and I popped in for dinner after running an errand at the Apple Store across the street and were pleasantly seated right away! I ordered the steak frites and my aunt ordered a house salad. Both of our meals were delicious, my steak was cooked perfectly and truly melted in my mouth. I didn't realize it came with a pile of arugula so I quickly added that to my aunts salad but boy was it still incredible! The only downside was the service was painstakingly slow - we never got our water refilled and it took ages to finally get our bill. I ordered a glass of wine and a lemon drop--wow, the lemon drop was absolutely delicious, one of the best I've had. We started off with the calamari, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Came in to celebrate my sisters birthday before we all went our separate ways. Was pleased to see it was happy hour however take note, you have to sit in the bar area in order to get happy hour specials. Ovi was our server and he was knowledgeable, attentive and constantly checked on us to make sure our needs were being met. We started off with the devil eggs - for me they are lacking some seasoning however Ovi brought me some salt and pepper and I was able to adjust that on my own. I got a draft beer to which I asked it be fully dressed. Ovi gave me the option of salt or tajin, I asked could we do both and he said absolutely! I came across Paul Martin's while searching for restaurants near The Domain area. I was drawn in by the photos, the menu offerings, and of course the reviews. We decided to order via DoorDash because who was leaving out for dinner? Not us. I'll say it now I have no photographs of the food! Wow. Ordered the Classic Burger, the Colombia River Steelhead Sandwich, and the Warm Butter Cake. I was told that the burger was good, but the rosemary fries were salty. After trying the fries, I can confirm that the salt was intense - not a fan. I had the Steelhead sandwich that was dressed with grilled salmon, arugula, avocado, pickled onions, and spicy remoulade. It came with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was quite tasty! The bread was soft and fresh. The standout for this sandwich were the pickled onions. The arugula was a bit wilted but still good, I could have also went for more greenery. The avocado was a nice touch as well. Online ordering/delivery notes: they packed everything separately so all of the fixings for the sandwich were on the side. I LOVED THAT! This ensured the sandwich didn't arrive soggy. Way to go Paul Martins. The butter cake was also really good and still warm upon arrival. The ice cream was a lovely touch. I stopped in this past Wednesday to treat myself around 6. Hostess was friendly and I was seated promptly despite how busy it was. Siobhan, my waitress, was personable and very knowledgeable. Steared me in all the right directions; I started with this smoky old fashioned they do, great presentation and flavor. Then I went with the salt and pepper shrimp. Great cook on the shrimp, so many places over-cook their fried shrimp. These were perfect. I could've had two but I wanted to save room for my main. That was the short-rib, and OMG, melt in your mouth like butter! It comes with this horseradish crème fraiche they make in-house, and buttery mashed potatoes. Great presentation, great flavors and pairing. Speaking of pairing they have an outstanding wine menu! Siobhan suggested the Silver Oak Cabernet for my main course. Perfect pairing with the short rib and unexpectedly well priced. Finished things up with The St. Louis style buttercake; that alone is worth a return visit! The ambience was classy but welcoming. I kind of felt underdressed but everyone made me feel so at home. Five out of five stars. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu. Only caveat, the coffee is a little lackluster. read more

I was caught doing a happy dance while enjoying a dinner here. It was seriously delicious and flavors were mild, and on point. The tuna lettuce cups were sweet and tangy. Perfectly mixed and served. The extra sauce served on the side was not needed, because then it became too gingery and too sweet for my taste, but this appetizer is definitely worth consuming. All the fresh cubed tuna were tossed in a marinade that had a much appreciated kick to it. Served in a fresh soft butter lettuce leaf cup, and ideal for low carbing. And my oh my, I have never enjoyed such a delightful braised beef rib that was calling my name. I was ecstatic with my choice the minute my fork was sliding into the buttery soft meat, making me drool before even setting my teeth in it. Though the dishes usually come with mashed potato, I opted for a healthier replacement. The roasted cauliflower was perfectly balanced with charred lines over the tender pieces of curd. My other half was craving for steak, and selected the blackened ribeye and also subbed the mashed potatoes for Brussel sprouts. We immediately noticed the juicy and tenderness of this steak and it was grilled to perfection. Though, a little confusion was with the tiny piece of bacon in The Brussel Sprouts. Not quite sure if that was supposed to be with and received minimal, or if a bacon piece was lost and stranded there. Also, Brussel Sprouts had an overwhelming amount of balsamic vinegar, that made us regret the choice of this replacement. Other than that, the robust and juicy steak was enjoyed well, up to last bite. The best was saved for last. And it wasn't because we love desserts too, but because it was made with love. The in cast iron cooked and served butter cake had these delicious sweeter crispy burned ends. The fresh strawberries, the warm and butter soft butter cake, topped with the creamy vanilla ice-cream was worth all the bites, carbs and calories. The requested message to celebrate us, was beautifully written in cursive and decorated this dish perfectly. The restaurant was lively and yet charming. The dimmed lights by our lower placed booth seats made it feel private. Service was excellent! From getting greeted and seated, acknowledging my special requested order to surprise my other half, to serving and clearing the table, to choosing a most fabulous meaningful presentation of the dessert. I particularly love the Austin artwork on the wall. The staff is always so nice and attentive. You can tell they pay attention to details. The biscuits and crab cakes were a great way for start off our meal! I ventured out from my normal order, a burger or their braised short rib, and settled on bbq short ribs. It was a HUGE portion. There's 2 stacked! In the picture, it looks like just one! Crazy. Anyway, the flavor of the fries and pork ribs were amazing and the meat was falling off the bone. I felt like Seafood so I got the salt and pepper shrimp, the crabcake, and the snapper with shrimp topped on it with sautéed spinach. Everything was really good except the salt and pepper shrimp. First off, this restaurant always hires amazing bartenders because they never fail on a signature cocktail. Also tasty appetizers. My favorite is the salt and pepper shrimp with the souls sauce (thank me later). I just left here for dinner tonight, and was pleased to be served by Zach as our waiter. Even though it was a busy night, he showed us the proper amount of attention and appreciation for us being there. I love when I feel welcomed at an establishment. Side work occurring and side glances from them as business is preventing them from going home. It's hard to apologize as the customer - during business hours. Paul Martin's is a classy eatery in the Domain, great for after-work dining, dates, and holiday parties. I was here last night for a team dinner and the service, food, and atmosphere were nice. A couple of things could have been improved: -blinds, as the sun was so bright that our group had to shift towards the back of the dining room to escape it. -music: it was loud at times, and the genre playing did not really seem to fit the vibe for dinner. -drinks: I ordered a limoncello spritz, and while it was good, my coworker got the same drink and it was nearly twice as strong. It would be nice to have consistency in those. Great parts: Ambiance was comfortable and for the most part we could have conversation without yelling, unless a song grew loud. Menu offering all sounded so good, it was hard to choose from the holiday specials or off of the regular menu. My seafood pasta was excellent with tender meat, al dente noodles, and a rich sauce that didn't drown the contents. Service was superb- no one in our group of 10 went with a glass empty or waiting on a food item. Our server also provided his recommendations on what he liked, and shared some banter with us through the dinner. Happy hour at Paul Martin's did not miss! I went with a girlfriend to do girls night dinner and drinks and we had a blast. If you make reservations, you can denote you're trying to come for happy hour so they will make sure they get you seated at the high top tables and you're able to order your HH noms! I was pleased with the sandwich and drink offering which is a very large portion of a meal and the starters of appetizers and shrimp tacos which I modded after my gal pal who is celiac requested it not be breaded and fried. It was a little dry but the dressing of the tacos made up for this. I forgot to take a pic of my salmon sandwich but it was huge and the sweet potato fries on the side were so good. Paired with a sangria and another drink to boot, nothing crazy spent and I adored the service. My first visit but def not my last, I'll have to make sure my coworkers know about this delight since we work in the domain and we're always looking for a lovely happy hour with good drink options and eats! read more

I entered and headed to the bar where the nice bartender served me up a Gold Rush cocktail. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan where the menu stated was lightly breaded, mozzarella, grated parmesan, classic marina with fettuccine. This is an upscale restaurant both casual and a place to have business meetings at. The decor is very classy with the lights turned down low. The dining experience was very elegant and quiet. I love this place. The chicken parmesan was very tasty and had great flavor. The side was the fettuccine and matched it perfectly. It was more than I expected but was able to almost finish my plate. The spinach and artichoke dip portion was large! It would likely be good for 3-4 people. I'm now understanding why, when I make reservations for larger parties in the Domain, this place almost always has availability! Don't get me wrong - it's in a popular spot with great shopping nearby and the place itself has a decent ambiance, but I can't say we'd return again. We made a reservation for 8 for brunch and the pricing seemed pretty decent - less than forty bucks for a mimosa or bloody mary, a biscuit, and an entree and then brunch drinks of the same kind were four bucks after that. For a table of 90% boozy brunch drinkers, this was a good deal. Biscuits and mimosas were tasty but everyone's entrees were incredibly mid. Odd-tasting hollandaise sauce on benny's, grizzled steak and mushy potatoes for steak and eggs, overcooked french toast with the syrup already on it so super mushy in the middle....just pretty much everyone was slightly disappointed in the food. Oh well. The service was the highlight and the main reason we didn't give even less stars! She was super prompt and kept making the rounds to get the extra drink orders like a champ. The drinks themselves were below average, though. The mimosas were mostly fine, but definitely cheap sparkling wine and ranged in consistency on how much juice would be in there. We did order a few drinks off the menu as well and I gotta say - this takes the cake for the worst espresso martini I've had! I actually like Bailey's, but this tasted like 80% Bailey's with a touch of iced coffee in it. We even ordered an extra cup of iced coffee to try and make it so that we weren't just sipping Bailey's. The lemon champagne drink was flat and bloody marys were really salty. Most just stuck with the mimosas, which is fine, but $32 for two glasses of Bailey's was disappointing. Basically, if there's nowhere else to make a rez in the Domain and you have a group, go ahead but there are so many other fantastic places to eat here that we'll just make sure we're planning further ahead for busy brunch days. First Take - The ambiance of this place is always nice. Dark, yet bright enough to see the people across the room. Large room and even includes some seating for just appetizers at a small table, almost couch seating. Feasting - This place has gone downhill. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip, which was the highlight of the night. The deviled eggs were second up, but not pictured was the Skirt Steak and Brick Chicken. The steak was unchewable, even ordering it medium. You'd think I'd have some luck with the knife, but that couldn't even get through the rubber. The brick chicken had a nice flavor but tasted like it was made in a microwave. Final Words - I've been here a few times now and this is the one place in the domain that I consistently have an awful meal, although the service was great. I took a group of clients here for lunch recently (9 total), and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Our server, Klaudjo, was excellent-very attentive and always checked on us consistently to ensure we had everything we needed. Our group ordered a variety of food and drinks, and everyone was very happy with their meals. I have to call out the Calamari (cooked just right, nice and crispy) and the Steak Frites. Both excellent dishes! The steak was cooked perfectly, and I opted to add truffle butter to the dish as well-WOW! The combination of flavors was perfect, and combining those with the crispy herb seasoned fries made for a dish I'll be sure to get again next time I go. read more
