Solid milk tea house in the neighborhood. Growing up in California, I've been spoiled silly with the abundance of boba places near me. Luckily, I've found Kung Fu Tea to welcome me to Jacksonville. I guess they've only been open for a couple months but it seems like they're doing well. Every time I've visited, they've had lines and plenty of patrons enjoying their drinks in the sitting area. The menu here is limited compared to what I'm used to seeing from milk tea houses, but what they lack in quantity is made up with their quality. They have milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothies. I like having the different options for sugar and ice levels. They also have regular and large sizes for those of you who prefer a larger serving of milk tea goodness. So far I've tried their honey milk green tea with pudding and boba. They do a good job with their boba and the pudding is delicious on its own. I've also ordered their milk cap drinks, which is basically a tea with a thick cream on top. They make their cream a little thicker than most other places I've been to, but I don't mind. Quick and friendly service! They have an awesome user friendly app when you order your drinks. My favorite is the strawberry lemonade tea. What's unique about the drinks and some of the menu items is the option to turn down the level of sugar. For example, the Taro can be unsweetened down to 30% sugar or keep normal with however many spoons of sugar they put in it. So I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to the whole milk tea thing. I have had a couple before at various places and really enjoyed them. Needless to say I was a little overwhelmed when I came in. It wasn't very crowded on a Friday afternoon and the staff was extremely helpful. I ended up with a honey milk, 100% sugar. Pretty basic, but very, very good. I got it to go, but there was ample space with a lot of seating available. It's much bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside. Very cute and homey on the inside. Took the time and gas to go back to exchange it for something else but was told they "can't" do that and when asked to get a refund, they also refused. This place does not value their customers. Customer service is not a priority. I was not greeted but ignored when I came in. I also understand that small local businesses have a certain dollar amount when you pay with card. It's usually $5 but theirs is $10. So I bought two regular sized drinks and it came up as $9-something. So I was going to change one of the drinks to a large and then the cashier said that it was "close enough to $10." Is there actually a "limit" for paying with card? Or are they trying to get more money out of me? The drinks themselves were pretty standard, but there are two other boba places no farther than two miles down the road that have never disappointed me. I was SO happy to hear they opened one in JAX and was sad I missed their grand opening specials. JAX is moving up! Décor is nice and servers were very friendly.
