The first time, my drink had very little taro nor green tea flavor and just tasted like watery milk with hard, undercooked boba. Then the second time, the boba was still hard and they added regular amounts of sugar and ice, though my order printed on the sticker on the cup was correct and stated zero for both. I got a passion fruit slushie and it was soo good! This place was very clean, customer service was A+. I think I'll be treating myself to this every weekend it was soo good. They have a large menu with soo many things you can order. I didn't think to take a picture. But give them I try. I highly recommend. I find it soo interesting how they don't give lids. KFT was the highlight of my day!! I'm craving another tea just thinking about it. I went in on a Saturday and parking was tough. They have a parking lot in the back so I'm going to try that next time. It's a fun looking shop, tons of seating. A bright and colorful menu greets you by the register and gives you tons of options. Really, teas I had never heard of! The workers are very friendly and move quickly. I decided on a taro milk tea and my friend got the winter melon milk green tea. Both large sizes with bubbles. The total was around 10 bucks. Very fair for quality bubble tea. The taro was delicious, very smooth and almost a thick quality to it. The bubbles were also super fresh. It has been months since I last had Kung Fu Tea back in January. Once lockdown began, most branches I passed by were closed. Even once the one I frequented in Queens reopened, they took online orders only and frankly, I didn't have time to download their app, sign up etc. just to order a Red Bean Slush. Fast forward to August 2020 and I was hanging around Union, NJ and was surprised to see the Kung Fu Tea. Usually if I want to see chain bubble tea joints I have to head towards NYC or Edison. Yet here was one not too far from me so I went to check it out. Much to my delight, this branch did not require online orders. I went in and ordered. The staff was masked and it gets loud so...it might actually help to either write down your order or order online otherwise you'll wind up yelling at each other (as I did with the cashier). Despite that, I was in and out in 10 minutes so it was fine, just kind of funny. The Red Bean Slush (no sweetener, with bubbles) is my favorite drink at Kung Fu Tea, and I know the flavor well. I had questions, the two employees were extremely impatient & borderline rude whilst replying. I requested no ice in a plain tea. I feel like I've been spoiled at the Edison location since there could be only 2 people working but they work through a long line of orders super quick. It could be that they have more equipment there and have been there for more years so that's why their process is more efficient. I was standing at the cash register for around 10 minutes with no one taking my order because they were so backed up and all 3 - 4 employees were working on making the orders. For one of my friend's orders, it's like they just put a pinch of bubbles in her order. I think it's because they were really backed up and didn't want to waste more time making more bubbles so they were not that generous with them. The Taro Milk Tea that my sister got didn't taste like taro, and tasted really off. The bubbles in both of our drinks were too chewy, and some even had hard centers. Despite the chewy bubbles in my Coco Cream Wow Milk Cap, I actually really liked my drink because I have a major sweet tooth and the brown sugar syrup was plenty sweet. The milk cap helped balance the sweetness of the syrup. I'd love to try it at Edison for comparison. I did appreciate that there was parking in the back and that the shop had some fun wall art. There's only one bigger table for a group of 8, so I wouldn't recommend huge groups coming and staying. I've only been to 2 Kung Fu Teas, the Edison one and this one, and I feel like Edison KFT has really refined their system and bubbles. I'm bananas about bubble tea. The tea I get is okay, and honestly better than I get elsewhere at times. GF got a drink she never had and she really did not like it. It was a tea where chocolate POWDER was used in a cold drink that had extra ice. It made the cocoa very hydrophobic. As in it made her feel like she was swallowing cinnamon, just ice, beans, sugar and powder with a few drops of water lol. I wanted to just get it changed for a basic hot tea. Any normal business would have complied. Who I presumed is the manager claimed that's how it's supposed to be and refused. I didn't chimp out because she had a baby. In a way having a newborn baby at the register during COVID times is a sign of how the place is ran Most likely under staffed and underpay staff as well because I come here regularly in the evenings and they always close 1-2 hours earlier than they post online. Long story short to lose business over what can't be more than $1-$2 worth of tea is an interesting strategy... This was my first visit to this location. I usually go to Edison but I was at a friends and we were craving bubble teas. When we arrived we had a two people in front of us . We had a very large order 10 or 12 bubbles teas I believe . They handled themselves well considering the large order except for the fact they ran out of Boba just before our last 3 drinks were made. Currently they don't have the full menu available yet( milk, yogurt and espresso aren't available yet). This specific location I highly recommend to NOT order from there. Me and my wife ordered today for a pickup. When we got home, her drink wasn't fully sealed and everything fell out. Mines was sealed wayyyyy too tight to push anything through and it was already cracked at the bottom (didn't notice until we got inside). When I pushed my straw through finally, the whole cup collapsed on itself. Long story short they need to re train the employees on how to properly seal people's drinks. Cool atmosphere. I loved the decorations on the walls. The only two negative things were that the music was way too loud at the front. It was literally blasting right next to where the employees were taking orders. I could barely hear myself which was kind of annoying. Also, it was a really tight space and when it's busy (which it was when we first arrived) it can get a little overwhelming if you don't like crowds. However, these two things weren't enough to make me remove a star from this review. Parking is pretty easy if you just go around the corner and park in the back. We went on a holiday when most people are out and we still were able to find a spot. Plenty of spaces. The service was quick. There were only two girls taking orders and preparing the drinks, but for the volume they had, they killed it. We were in and out in no more than 15 minutes, probably less. Kudos to them! The tea itself was fantastic! Great flavor and the boba was fresh, sweet, and had a perfectly firm consistency. I'm not sure why there aren't more positive reviews of this place! They say they make their bubbles fresh every two hours and brew their tea every three hours, which is great. It shows they actually care about quality. I got the hot winter melon milk green tea with extra bubbles and my boyfriend got the iced oolong milk tea. We both loved them. It's a clean location, which I would hope for in a new location. I ordered a milk green tea with herbal jelly, less ice and 30% sugar, my go to order. They made it where it basically tasted like milk with a splash of tea and barely any herbal jelly. I asked them to remake it with more tea, which they did but then they forgot the sugar. I also asked for a spoon so I could eat the herbal jelly alone and they didn't have one. How do you not have utensils even being a beverage shop? Happy to see places like Kung Fu Tea and Bonchon (next door) are coming to Union. The area desperately needed some restaurants and retail to bring back some life to the center. Kung Fu Tea is a chain so you get what most chains offer. I think that this place opened relatively recently so they may be getting their efficiency together. There wasn't many people but it took quite a while to get my single drink together. I hope with time they can speed things up because it's nice to be able to grab and go and not be worried about getting your drink quickly on your way to somewhere else. I ordered a herbal jelly milk tea with 30% sugar. In my opinion, it's always better to order less sugar or it's just too sweet. I can't believe I just wasted money in this place, the bubble tea was the absolute worst I have ever had and I expect better from this reputable chain. The honey black tea was an abomination of basically syrup, it's like they dumped the entire bottle of syrup in one cup. I could not drink it as it was obviously not made properly and was basically a cup of pure sugar syrup. It was run by a bunch of apathetic children who do not know how to make a proper bubble tea nor did they care to learn.
