Kusan surprised me with some pretty authentic Uyghur food. Very similar flavors and food to where my family is from in the Gansu province in China. We came with a large party of 10+ people. Interior decor and space is nice, service was great. We ordered everything from lamb shank, ribs, catfish, samsa. Food is seasoning wise very accurate, but it's definitely an acquired taste. I enjoy this food, since ive had it before when visiting my family's hometown. But the flavors are very strong and catfish and lamb are mixed flavors for most. Good experience overall. Would recommend for those who like this type of food read more

Delicious and high quality food. It's a bit hidden in the back of the shopping center, but a great find. Highly recommended! The only downside was the server charged us a 20% tip/fee for our "party of 6". Which was 2 parents and 4 kids including a 6 year old. I am not usually a fan of lamb but everything we ordered was delicious. The golden lamb ribs were so tender and the side sauces and spices worked really well with it. The lamb shank was moist and fell right off of the bone. The pilaf rice had a hint of sweetness to it, reminded me of the taste of those chinese herbal soups with gogi berries. The lamb dumpling soup was my favorite dish of the night. The soup oddly tasted like pico degallo because of the onions, tomatoes, and cilantro, but it WORKED. The lamb broth was hearty but clean tasting at the same time and the dumplings were tasty. The cold eggplant dish was a little too spicy for me but was good over the rice. I am so pleasantly surprised by both the flavor and hospitality of this restaurant. We were just picking a new place to gather as a group, but the entire dinner turned into a discussion around how much we love the food! All the lamb was melt in your mouth delicious. The dough they use is tender yet textured, extremely satisfying for the palate. The vegetables (and I don't eat vegetables) complement all the meat really well. The yogurt and soup were both delicious sides that we kept going back to between spoons of food. We have decided to come back here very often. The food felt simply special. Deliciousness aside, it was high quality on an exquisite level. The food was served exceptionally quickly, and the service was cooperative and helpful. No one asks for any food restrictions before the meal and it isn't asked when reservations are being made, so you'll have to actively speak up if you need this addressed. Dishes are only fully explained at the bar, if you sit at the standard tables you'll get a very basic dish explanation. The food is mostly Chinese Japanese fusion and some dishes knock it out of the park, like the chawanmushi which is fused with flavors of Chinese egg drop soup. Some really drop the ball, like the scallion noodles which were soggy and overly greasy, the oil was not properly infused with the green onion and so you just got mushy soggy plain oil flavored noodles. The course lacked consistency. Some dishes were incredible, some average, and some downright bad. There's a lack of consistency in the prep also, there were crab shells in the orange crab dish, there was a bad bitter uni in one of the chawanmushi, etc. I think the ambiance, service, and course doesn't add up to the $150 price tag. I would give full marks to this restaurant for both its sashimi dishes and main courses. The service is good, the environment is clean, and the dishes are priced normally, perhaps slightly on the higher side, but the value for money is reasonable. The only downside is that parking around this area is quite difficult. The icing on top was when we told the sweet hostess that it was my mom's birthday, and she said to definitely tell our server! After our yummy lunch, we were given a complimentary order of malasadas (yum!) and then Mom got a special ice cream cup with a huge sparkler candle and the entire restaurant sang to her! But wait, there's more! Noelani's was celebrating their 13th anniversary today, so we got free live musical entertainment (normally it's only on Friday and Saturday nights) by the talented Rick Rasay. Who then proceeded to serenade Mom by changing the words to one of the songs he sang! She felt so special! AND finally, as part of their 13th anniversary, Noelani's was giving out coupons to their paying customers for free shave ice from Paradise Shave Ice who put a pop-up outside their restaurant. So yummy! And they were so super nice too - will definitely keep them in mind for any shave ice catering needs! We don't visit this restaurant as we're down in the South Bay, but we definitely plan to visit them more often! Thanks for making my mom's day so wonderful! This was an especially bittersweet birthday, as it was the first one without my dad, but somehow I think he was smiling down at us and blessing us today!

I've had a couple times where the tea kettle was still soapy, so the tea tasted awful. Their kettles keep the tea piping hot for the whole meal, so maybe that makes them hard to clean.
