lamb ribs

I am not usually a fan of lamb but everything we ordered was delicious. The golden lamb ribs were so tender and the side sauces and spices worked really well with it. The lamb shank was moist and fell right off of the bone. The pilaf rice had a hint of sweetness to it, reminded me of the taste of those chinese herbal soups with gogi berries. The lamb dumpling soup was my favorite dish of the night. The soup oddly tasted like pico degallo because of the onions, tomatoes, and cilantro, but it WORKED. The lamb broth was hearty but clean tasting at the same time and the dumplings were tasty. The cold eggplant dish was a little too spicy for me but was good over the rice. I didn't see their fish dish on their to-go menu so we'll have to go in-person to try that!

It's a 3.5 stars for me, some dishes are a hit some dishes are a miss. We went on a weeknight and got seated immediately. We ordered: - Lamb kebab: 3/5 the meat was rough but the seasoning was good - Samsa: 5/5 flavorful and delicious! - Golden toasted lamb: 4/5 the first few bites were delicious but it's generally too fatty the more I bite into it - Garlic naan: 2/5 unfortunately it felt like store bought and wasn't that good

Very excited to have authentic Uyghur food in San Mateo! Lamb pilaf was fragrant and delicious, and the fish was crispy. Will be back again

The lamb was fresh, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. The skewers were grilled really well, and everything came out hot and flavorful. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm craving lamb skewers!

Food is authentic and very high quality - a good place to enjoy lamb and traditional Xinjiang / Central Asian food!

Good food fast service. We ordered Samsa, Golden Crisp Roasted Lamp, and Silk Road Garlic roasted whole fish.

The store is a bit small, so definitely expect a wait during dinner or prime-time hours! However, the attentive service makes the experience well worth it. We ordered the Golden Crispy Roasted Lamb Rib and the Braised Lamb Shank, and I highly recommend both: * Golden Crispy Roasted Lamb Rib: This was the highlight--incredibly tender on the inside with a perfectly balanced soft-yet-crunchy outer layer. * Braised Lamb Shank: Absolutely succulent and fall-off-the-bone tender. The Sides & Sauces The dishes were served with a scrumptious rice mixed with raisins, carrots, and apricot pieces. It offered a light sweetness that complemented the aromatic, roasted flavor of the grains beautifully. Additionally, both meals came with three distinct dipping sauces: 1. Chili Oil Sauce (for a kick) 2. Dry BBQ Rub (for savory depth) 3. Yogurt Dipping Sauce (for a cool finish) All three paired perfectly with the lamb, making for a fantastic meal!

Great food and generous portions! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, especially the soup and grilled meat. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. I'll definitely come back to try more dishes.

Authentic, tasty Excellent Uyghur spot! The lamb soup have the perfect flavor and the lamb kebabs are incredibly flavorful with just the right amount of cumin and spice.

Nice new place for Uyghur food. We ordered Samsa, lamb rib pilaf, garlic eggplants and kebab. All taste good and fresh. I especially enjoyed the pilaf with apricot raisin in it, giving a little sweet and fruity note.

Delicious meal from start to finish. The lamb was tender and full of flavor, the cucumber salad was a great complement, and the garlic naan was fresh and buttery. Highly recommend!

Mmm super tasty lamb! Recommend the lamb with rice pilaf, golden lamb ribs, and the almond yogurt. Can't wait to try the milk tea.

When we arrived, we were easily able to get seated without a reservation (perhaps because it was a Sunday). The service was wonderful from the get-go - they were extremely friendly and attentive the entire time, and made us feel very welcomed. And though we arrived on the slightly later side, they never made us feel rushed. The interior of Rin-Tei is minimalist and cozy, and had a very familial feel, as virtually all the tables are connected by a long bench along the wall. It contributes to the inviting, inclusive atmosphere of the restaurant, making it a great spot to meet up with friends. We ordered a variety of dishes which we all split, including: the garlic shrimp, the Vietnamese papaya salad, cold sesame TanTan pho, keema curry, calamari, sizzling wagyu loin, and a couple drinks. And everything we had was excellent! My personal favorites were the sizzling wagyu loin, which was perfectly cooked and abundantly juicy and flavorful, and the warm, tasty keema curry. I'd also never had cold pho before, but I ended up being very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. I loved my experience at Rin-Tei, and will no doubt be back soon!

They were super attentive, and asked if the modifications for different orders were the same. And when they made a small mistake, they quickly noticed without me even pointing it out, and resolved it. I was very impressed. Skewers are tasty. Note for self: between the beef and the lamb skewers, we actually preferred the beef. Maybe because it's a bit more fatty. Garlic sauce on the eggplant and vermicelli scallop is slightly spicy, but not too bad, probably from the garlic kick. Would come back again! Also it's super kid friendly surprisingly. Lots of high chairs and lots of kids eating there.

I made reservations for a party of 6 about…read moretwo weeks in advance, and I'm glad I did because when we arrived around 7 PM, the restaurant was packed and busy. Just a heads up, they only accept phone reservations for groups of 6 or more. If you have fewer than 6 people, it's walk-in only. Ordering is done through a QR code where you can add items to your cart. I actually liked that multiple people in the party can scan the QR code and add items themselves instead of having one designated person order everything or having separate carts that no one else can see. The only downside is that it can be easy to accidentally over-order if someone adds something you were already planning to get, so I recommend reviewing your cart carefully before submitting. Since this is a skewer restaurant, you probably won't get super full from just ordering skewers, so I recommend getting some main dishes as well if you want to feel satisfied without spending too much on just meat. Service was pretty quick and the skewers came out in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, they were sold out of a few items we wanted to try, which was a little disappointing, but maybe that's a sign I'll have to come back again. Everything we did try was delicious. The skewers were well-seasoned, and they also have extra seasoning available at the table. They allowed us to bring a birthday cake, stored it in their freezer for us, and provided plastic forks and paper plates, which was a nice touch. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would consider coming back when I'm in the mood for skewers. I don't think it's somewhere I'd crave all the time, but I have no major complaints. Parking can be a little difficult, but luckily we were able to find public parking at the garage on Flores Street.

The ambiance is a bit similar to a fast casual restaurant than that of a high end course meal and the service aligns with that. Bathrooms are in a bit of a sorry state and chairs are peeling at the edges. Service is a bit clumsy and rushed. No one asks for any food restrictions before the meal and it isn't asked when reservations are being made, so you'll have to actively speak up if you need this addressed. Dishes are only fully explained at the bar, if you sit at the standard tables you'll get a very basic dish explanation. The food is mostly Chinese Japanese fusion and some dishes knock it out of the park, like the chawanmushi which is fused with flavors of Chinese egg drop soup. Some really drop the ball, like the scallion noodles which were soggy and overly greasy, the oil was not properly infused with the green onion and so you just got mushy soggy plain oil flavored noodles. The course lacked consistency. Some dishes were incredible, some average, and some downright bad. There's a lack of consistency in the prep also, there were crab shells in the orange crab dish, there was a bad bitter uni in one of the chawanmushi, etc. I think the ambiance, service, and course doesn't add up to the $150 price tag. There's definitely potential but the lack of effort does affect the overall experience.

Besides the fried rice, the tuna and salmon sashimi are large, fresh, and high quality. Many times when I eat sashimi that is not very clean, it upsets my stomach and makes me want to use the restroom. However, the food here is both clean and fresh, and I had absolutely no discomfort after the meal. I also ordered chawanmushi and stir fried udon, both of which were very well executed. I would give full marks to this restaurant for both its sashimi dishes and main courses. The service is good, the environment is clean, and the dishes are priced normally, perhaps slightly on the higher side, but the value for money is reasonable. The only downside is that parking around this area is quite difficult. Overall, however, I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys omakase and appreciates high quality Japanese cuisine.

The rest were ok, and almost all of them required dipping in soy sauce (good omakase generally does not) Mochigo Ebi tasty very heavy and greasy The service felt surprisingly "fast casual" as well. Our dishes came out quickly and the server kept asking us to move stuff around to make space. Don't expect a slower dining experience.
