Not skilled at completing a basic brake service or reinstalling something as simple as a wheel cap. Not attention to details when putting a truck back together. Missing basic parts. Took truck into Kwik Kar a few months ago because it was making a noise around the axle. The "mechanic" which supposedly not all of the guys are mechanics, claimed that there was a part of the rotor that someone shaved off on the wheel assembly that may be making the noise. After further research and taking it to another shop, discovered that the notch was intentionally shaved off my the manufacturer during installation and had nothing to do with the noise and was supposed to be that way. The "mechanic" had no idea what he was talking about. At that same time, the mechanic was assessing the noise, he replaced the rotors and brake pads as my brakes were also making noise. Once the brake job was completed, the squeaking still continued. I thought maybe it was rear brakes causing the noise. I eventually took the truck to an actual Toyota dealer and they failed the front brakes when doing a complete inspection. I was instructed to take the truck bad to the mechanic who installed the brakes prior to them working on it. When I took the truck back to Kwik Kar, I was told that nothing was wrong with the brakes, but it may be some dust causing the noise. He said that they could order some "hardware" and that may stop the issue. The employee cleaned the brakes and it stopped the noise for one day. Two days after I left, I noticed the front cap to my wheel was missing. I called and the same employee said that the cap was put back on the truck. His only excuse was that I did not notice it for 2 days. That next morning, I noticed the other cap was also missing. So, either both caps fell off or either someone stole 2 of the caps but left the other 2 which doesn't make sense. Or, the employee didn't put them back on. Several days later, after trying to contact a manager for 4 days, I went to the shop. The same employee's only excuse was pointing out the time frame that I noticed they were missing. After an escalated interaction with him and him telling me that I will be waiting all day for a manager, another employee helped me look for the caps and they were no where to be found. So, either they were misplaced or more than likely thrown away. I finally get a call back from the manager and he sends me a very difficult to see video claiming that the employee put them both back on. After watching the video, it looks like he pressed the caps on, but doesn't actually pop them on with any type of force. I do not know how difficult it is to properly pop back on a wheel cap, but they both likely fell off on my way home. So, now not only do my brakes still make noise, but I am out $100 because I have to replace the 2 wheel caps out of pocket. The manager emails me back that there is only one way to put a cap back on. I am happy that it is only two wheel caps that I am having to replace. If there is only one way to do something is the managers excuse, I would hate to have to dispute any type of major repair. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid a trip to this location. Upon arrival the attendant made a passive sexual comment to me (a young female). I just needed a state inspection and they said no problem. The attendant drove my car around the block (I drive a nicer vehicle and have never seen this before). The attendant then immediately cones back inside and fails my inspection. His reason being "Inspectors have a right to fail if your tint is below 30". I then question "My window tint? That I got done a Tint World, a legit business?" He responds with "That's correct, yours is a 27." I find this odd as I assume Tint World would have informed me if the tint I was purchasing was illegal. I left and proceeded to call Kwik Kar on Washington who informed me it is in fact anything below 20! NOT 30! I felt unsafe at this location and taken advantage of. read more

With no disrespect, I feel like every guy is ready to give me a LAUNDRY list of issues and ready to hand me over a 1.5k bill. This was NOT the case with Rudy. Very fast service, excellent employees. They checked my tires, cleaned my windows, replaced my wiper blades, changed my oil, and put in windshield wiper fluid, and cleaned the outside of my car. I first went to get my state inspection taken care of at Kwik Kar in 2015 (I just went to check!) because they were very nice when I called to ask if I could bring an electronic copy of my proof of insurance (I'm not sure if this is still true because I haven't needed to do so again, I would call to confirm!). I've been bringing my car for inspections ever since. We now bring both of our cars here and I really don't think I'll ever go anywhere else. They've never tried to get me to accept any services I don't need or didn't ask for. I normally go to firestone locations and upon reading the yelp reviews stopped into Kwik Car instead for an oil change. The location was staffed with two men this afternoon who were friendly and polite. Almost immediately one of the gentleman came Into the seating area to make sure I was aware that my vehicle takes synthetic oil (costs is significantly higher than non synthetic) before doing the change. I already knew and definitely appreciated that they ASKED before charging me and doing the work. According to the manager of another Kwik Kar, this location has changed ownership and replaced its previously high-quality and high-character employees with different ones. This was apparent when I came in for brake repairs. The repairs done caused other issues, and I had to come in every day for an entire week. The manager, Steve, and his techs would "perform" minor fixes that I wasn't allowed to oversee. The problem was never fixed. It seemed like their plan was just to wear me out. It worked. Attrition is powerful and it got me - I had to go elsewhere to get this figured out. Steve and his guys will never know that (nor do they care). The regional manager is very difficult to contact. They gave me his card, but all it has are the phone numbers of each Kwik Kar location in Houston. You can only leave messages for him or catch him at the right time at one of the locations. I did end up speaking to him, and after a series of phone calls, he agreed to refund me for brake pads that were put in incorrectly. Stay away from this location if you can. They have a Heights location; if you feel compelled to use Kwik Kar for some reason (coupon, etc), go to that one. read more

I didnt know what the hard sell was till I shopped at their competitors. The Jiffy place insisted I needed an overpriced transmission flush. Nope! Rip off. Price of oil change by itself was exorbitant. Then they add the entire fee to the taxable amount as of six quarts of oil cost thirty bucks. Also they charge me for high mileage oil which I was ok since I put 5w in my truck during the summer anyway. Then they tack on ANOTHER 18 fee for "high mileage oil". The they tell me that my filter needs to be changed. I'm thinking air filter, oil filter. Ok sure. It's been a while for the air filter and the oil filter I'm pretty sure is supposed to come with any oil change. Nope. The fuel filter. I find out when they ring me up and my bill is 164 which included a sixty dollar charge for the oldest oil change scam available. (Psa- don't fall for the fuel filter needs to be changed scam. Much like the "radiator flush" or "fuel system flush" it is rarely if ever needed) I attached a pick of my invoice because it's all fairly shocking. Definitely ripped off. Went in for an oil change and ended up getting the screwing of my life. Felt like they should have at least bought me a drink first. They get their one star because they were fast at screwing me. This is the worst place you could ever go to for a oil change. They changed mine but didnt put oil in motor,started it up,drove it to the front and said you are ready to go. I went to get a simple oil change and state inspection. They didn't ask me what type of oil I wanted and put synthetic in my car and charged me extra for it when I was never asked. I left and thought it was odd my car key fob was loose...the black fob part and key part needed to be squeezed together to click into place. I was going straight home, and when I got there and tried to press a button on the fob, there wasn't anything...the button fell into the fob because there was no longer a circuit board. I used it to unlock my car to drive to Kwik Kar so I know it was functional before. I tried to go back to the shop and they denied that anything happened. The manager there is named Steve. He has been working on cars since 1989. There were two attendants on duty when I arrived. They were fast, efficient, and told you the price up front. There was none of this, "plus labor and tax" nonsense at the check out counter after they have all ready done the work. All their prices were included. I will be taking my car back there and would recommend them to a friend. Oil change and tire rotation took about 30 - 45 minutes and it was about $60 dollars. This included a check of everything under the hood along with replacing any fluids (transmission, windshield washer, etc.) that were a low. The also cleaned the windows and vacuumed the inside of the car, all as part of the standard oil change package. So really, it was an oil change, tire rotation, and car wash all in one. Plus the waiting room and shop were both clean. read more

We had come here for basic maintenance on a regular basis for a few years. One week ago, my fiance took her 2012 Elantra in for an oil change. The folks there convinced her she needed a full engine flush for well over $200. Upselling is annoying, but good consumers should be able to handle it. However, Hyundai has released two technical service bulletins specifically saying they do not recommend engine flushes, and that having one may void the power train warranty. This means that these car experts pushed to sell an expensive service on her that the manufacturer says could be harmful to her car. Unconscionable. I will never go here again. The reviews below about the new management must be right. These guys are untrustworthy (knowingly sold a harmful service) , or incompetent (weren't aware of the two technical service bulletins).
