Getting inspection done. Came up to Dallas to help daughter, her check engine light was on and she needed to get an emission inspection. Replaced the largest most complex PCV valve I and the O'reilly worker has ever seen. Also replaced spark plugs. Check engine light off, I beat the rain. This place was busy but everyone was nice and it moved quickly. Waiting area small but chairs comfortably. Bay looked clean and mechanics looked professional. These are some of the nicest people I have seen at an oil change place. They were very friendly and seemed to genuinely care about how long you had to wait and if you were taken care of. Went here for an oil change and was told by the service tech that it would take 45 minutes to change my oil since they were struggling with the only other vehicle in the oil change bay (also the only other vehicle in the shop) I waited 45 minutes for them to tell me that they "didn't have any oil". Pretty inexcusable since I immediately went to Take 5 and they offered me a water as soon as I pulled in, staff was incredibly polite and helpful, and I was out in 10 minutes. Kwik Kar Allen, TX - Dangerously Incompetent** I took my car to Kwik Kar in Allen, TX, for a full oil change, fluid inspection, and tire rotation. What I got instead was blatant negligence that put my car--and my family's safety--at serious risk. Shortly after leaving, my engine started smoking. When I opened the hood, I discovered they had left the brake fluid cap off, causing fluid to spill all over the engine bay. This is basic auto maintenance 101, and they failed. When I returned, manager Nicholas Colvin and his team refused to take responsibility. They replaced the $7 cap they lost but didn't bother cleaning the engine, which is still smoking. Now I'm stuck paying to have it professionally cleaned. Worse, I noticed they failed to top off my coolant, which was dangerously low. This so-called "inspection" was careless at best and outright reckless at worst. Their attitude was just as appalling as their work. They shrugged off the issue, calling it "not a big deal," offered a pathetic $25 credit instead of refunding my service, and hung up on me when I tried to hold them accountable. This level of incompetence is beyond unacceptable. Leaving brake fluid to leak and ignoring low coolant could have caused brake failure, an engine fire, or worse. Considering I was about to take a 2,000-mile trip with my family, their negligence could have had catastrophic consequences. Kwik Kar Allen is a safety hazard. I went around Allen trying to find somewhere but a bunch of places said their state inspection machines were down and wouldn't be up and running for days. Finally came across Kwik Kar, their machines were working, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They were efficient, I did wait very long and my car was good to go. The waiting room was very well kept, and had complimentary coffee and water for guests. There was plenty of seating, and no one seemed to be waiting for too long before an employee was updating them or checking them out. State inspection is a standard price everywhere, and their oil change prices seemed on par and fair with what you would expect for an oil change. Then once in to the garage they come back and say $156.99 because my BMW uses European oil. They would not honor their signage. I was told during my vehicle inspection that my wipers didn't pass, headlights were too dim & I didn't have a proper front plate. Here's my issue: I changed my wipers 3 months ago, I was told by DPS that only one license plate is required to pass an inspection and my headlights were fine per the next inspection company that passed my vehicle. I have been taking my vehicles here for oil change and inspection services the 5 years I've lived in the area and not had any huge issues until now. We took my Honda Civic in for an emissions inspection since the registration renews in January. We pulled in, I made sure to travel over the bell line and waited for a few minutes. After a couple of minutes, another customer, a male, pulled in behind me and was also waiting. At that point, a man who had been on the phone behind the building walked into the open bay and yelled "Get your asses up here and help these customers NOW." A young man who had been in front of the building vaping asked what we needed. I told him I need an emissions inspection and I'd like the oil changed because I couldn't remember when it had last been done and this car doesn't get driven a lot. He asked if I wanted half synthetic or full synthetic? I looked at the windshield sticker and asked if that showed full? Then I said, whatever I had last time. He replied that they could look it up. We went inside and he pulled my car behind a car already in the bay. When we went inside, a customer was arguing with the manager about a specific type of oil. The manager was saying these are just kids and they don't know anything. The customer was saying if I call and ask if you have a certain type of oil, I'd expect them to know. That went on a few minutes. We waited, the man that had driven in behind us came in during this and his car was pulled into the open bay. About 30 minutes later we paid and left. The fella who came in after us was long gone. I was charged for a safety inspection even though I asked for emissions only for a January registration. My mother, who drives this vehicle, headed back to Lubbock the next day and called me from the road about a strange noise the car was making and what should she do? She finally figured out that if she drove slower, the noise wasn't as bad and said she felt OK to continue driving. She had stopped several times to see if she could tell what had changed. When she got home, she and her neighbor found the guard panel loose under the oil pan. I found a shop in Lubbock who took GREAT care of my mother and tightened up the guard for us. I have always taken my cars here but will never go back after your whole staff made this such a stressful, unnecessary situation. If I could give minus 5 stars I would. I have had a very trying and expensive experience with this location the last 12 months. Took my car in for ac issues. They told me they could fix it. $1500 later they said it was done. I kept going back and telling them that the air is not getting cold. They all acted as if I was crazy and kept telling me it was fixed. Took it back several times. One time the coolant was low the other time is needed some small work etc. they kept my car for weeks. Around this my transmission also Started acting up. They said they would exchange Ny transmission. Had my car for another two weeks. Paid for all of this. Ac still not working. Got fed up and took it somewhere else. Paid the same amount for the ac to get fixed - finally. Not even a year later, transmission is acting up again. Went in to speak to manager , was met with rude associates and a manager that couldn't be bothered to take time to speak with me and had to help other people while trying to help me. I was greeted by Za'hara when I drove up today and she was very friendly and courteous. I was updated on the condition of my car and was given a few suggestions on ways I could maintain my car without any pressure. There was an incentive to return within 14 days to proceed with the recommended services to receive 15% off and a $25 off offer for an oil change to share with friends, family or a 2nd vehicle. Terrible experience! Right after a simple oil change here, the oil drained out of the car overnight and my garage floor has been severely damaged due to the huge oil stains. Moreover my car suddenly stopped on my way to have the oil checked again at this shop. It has been turned out the engine must be replaced due to this damage, total damage including the garage floor recovery will be over $7,000, but they're not taking responsibility at all for what they've done to my car. I had an oil change last Friday and my car stopped on the road Saturday morning, which means the car stopped at 12 miles driving after the oil change. Just before towing the car, the tow truck driver showed what had happened underneath the car and took a video. The oil filter was fully covered by the engine oil, quite loose and easily turned by fingers. His left hand was holding his phone to record it, his knees was on the ground, but he was able to tighten the filter back without force. it was very clear that the car stopped due to the loose filter caused the engine oil to be drained out My car was immediately towed to this shop for them to have a look, but they did not conceded their faults, but said an oil connector or something made this issue. I again towed the car to a Toyota dealer to have a close diagnostic. Mechanics at the Toyota dealer also confirmed the problem was the oil filter and the filter is not even compatible with my car, everything including the oil connectors was fine. They also gave me photos. Due to the oil leak, the engine has been locked up. So now, I have to replace the engine which will cost over 5K dollars, and a new engine costs much higher than this. Half of my garage floor has been completely covered by the leaked oil, which may also cost several thousands dollars. Thousands of dollars in losses expected. "I only do this for girls" I went into this location to get my tires checked out because I got a 'low tire' warning. As soon as I pulled in, one of the technician asked me to get out of my car to do my own tires. I explained that for the past few times I came in for this 'low tire' issues, a technician helped with the tires. He proceeded to tell me that this location never helps with tires and that when he does he only "does it for the girls". Confused, I got out of the car and asked him to at least help with one tire that I thought was the problem. He laughed (smirked?) and ridiculed me for not knowing how to put air in the tire. I ended up filling my tires but the "low tire" warning on my dash didn't disappear, so I asked the same technician if something had to be reset to which he proceeded to say "just drive, it will go away" which... it never did. I will never be using Kwik Kar again unless they retrain their employees. If I am treated like this for a simple "tire pressure warning" who knows how I will be treated for anything else. read more

I came in to get a state inspection. After 30 or so minutes, they were done with my car. I was sitting outside enjoying the nice weather when they pulled my truck out. I stood up and walked towards my truck, and the technician looked at me like I was crazy. He insisted this wasn't my truck and told me some other customer claimed my truck as his and told him to change the air filters. The technician started to show me how dirty my air filter and cabin air filter were. (I was a bit confused as to why he's showing me my air filters when all I came in for was an inspection). I advised him to please take out the air filters, but he gave me a hard time on how difficult it was to remove the cabin air filter, and he scratched up his arm. Feared for retaliation and damaging my vehicle's interior, I advised him to leave it and remove the air filter from the engine. I was distraught that I had to pay an additional 50.00 for something I didn't request or want. The moral of the story, please watch out for your car as someone else claimed it as theirs. (Btw, he was nowhere to be found). I'm so glad I was sitting outside and walked up immediately when my truck was done. read more

My wife brought her BMW 535i in there for an oil change on 9/18/19, simple enough. Everything seemed to be fine, and she drove it home. The next morning she took it to Sherman to meet a girlfriend for lunch. About 10 minutes outside of Sherman the 'Oil Warning' tells her to stop and put oil in it. Fortunately, there is a WalMart close by, where some extremely helpful Automotive Service personnel come to her rescue. They open the hood and the engine compartment is filled with oil and smoke and the oil filter cap is spewing oil. The Mechanic can unscrew the oil filter cap by hand, and discovers that the oil ring is severed from improper installation....the oil ring was trapped in the threads of the oil filter cap when it was partially tightened resulting in the cutting of the oil ring and a massive leak from oil under pressure at the improperly installed filter. It took 5 quarts of oil to fill it back up, with only a 7 quart capacity! I am uncertain if the car has suffered significant engine damage. After making sure everything is fixed at the WalMart in Sherman, I instruct my wife to go back to Kwik Kar on West McDermott where it was serviced the day before. She speaks with the Store Manager, Austin, who essentially blows her off, saying the problem is 'human error', then a 'manufacturing problem' with the o-ring and makes no real offer of restitution or resolution. He is totally unapologetic for an error clearly caused by Kwik Kar's negligence. There is not even an offer to refund the cost of the oil change or the subsequent otherwise unnecessary repairs at the WalMart in Sherman. No offer to clean-up the mess under the hood. I can't think of a more unprofessional or counter-productive response to a customer whose car they may have seriously damaged. Needless to say, we will never go back there due to their mechanical incompetence, but moreover, due to their unprofessional and uncaring attitude when asked to back-up their work. I wouldn't even give this place 1 star if that was an option. The manager is rude and unprofessional at this location. I feel he uses bully tactics to make problems like this go away. They USED to be great. After admitting his new technician made mistakes (drained transmission fluid instead of oil & had car on for 6 minutes without oil), I heard him complaining saying he needed a vacation when his technician drove off in my car without communicating with me he was test driving it. I saw several new people and only one person that seemed to know what they were doing. I was there 2 hours and 15 minutes for what should have been a 20 minute oil change. And I'm not entirely certain they would have told me what was happening if I hadn't asked. They appeared to be attempting to fix it before I noticed. After I left, my car smelled horrible after driving it and made a few knocking noises. I decided to take my car to Toyota to get everything checked out. I also spoke with Kwik Kar's manager about it and he said to bring paperwork from Toyota to show what is found and that we could file a claim with corporate. I thought okay great they will reimburse for anything that may have gone wrong. Boy was I wrong! I showed up with my car, paperwork, and a few parts to show what Toyota found. The manager would barely allow me to speak. He raised his voice in order to tell me corporate won't pay for anything that was found simply because "my car is operational". He made the statement "I'm not trying to keep you from filing a claim, I'm trying to make you understand that corporate won't pay and it's a waste of your time". (I was triggered by the raised voice and being silenced so I simply said "yes it is" in response to his claim that he wasn't trying to keep me from filing a claim and left in tears) I didn't go there for a fight.... But isn't filing a claim a decision I should be making, not the Kwik Kar manager?! If I went through all the steps HE told me to and showed up, doesn't that show that I find it serious enough to file a claim?! This manager basically walked up to my car on the defense and wouldn't allow a calm rational conversation. I'm now going to be out over $600 due to their new technicians "minor mistakes" that this manager doesn't find important enough to allow me to file a claim. To me, $600 is a lot of money. They messed up, admitted it, said they'd help rectify the situation with a claim, and LIED. DON'T TRUST THIS LOCATION! read more

So, upset and disappointed. I've been (past tense now) a customer here for over 10 years now. I had to get my car inspected so I can register it. I quickly drove through and wore my mask and used wipes for the steering wheel, dash, gear shift & door. The guy that greeted me wasn't wearing a mask. I should have turned around. But they know me & have all my info. I gave him my car and waited outside (11 minutes) in my mask while they did the inspection.
