I've been a customer to this location past 3 years and never had issues with getting my trucks oil change done and when needed changing over the cabin filter estimate payment ranges no more that $125 including filters but today same oil type of oil used plus new cabin filter I ended up being charged $169.10 !!! Same bs from before same everything as usual I was in complete shock a after finding out cabin filter was $49.99 I tell you what I'm never returning to this location or any other kiwi kar oil change again the guy said they have the same prices since 3 years ago I call it bullshit ! And to top it off the sticker on my window says to return at 3,000 miles when it's synthetic oil being used and your oil change should be every 6,000 miles not 3k Makes me wonder if they know what the fk they're doing smh! read more

In June 2024 I posted this review: I used this Kwik Kar location for several years for oil changes, state inspections and to have the brakes blead. In fact, they are the only shop that has ever done any work on this vehicle. I have never had what I would call a bad experience. Recently I noticed a red BRAKE indicator on the instrument panel was on. I am not sure how long it had been on. I checked the brake fluid level and it was good. In any event, I did some research online and scanned the car with my BlueDriver scan tool. The tool found C1008 Brake Fluid Level Circuit High. This means the voltage is too high indicating a bad sensor, broken wire or bad control module. The owner manual says this is a critical fault in the brake system and should be serviced right away. The most common cause I found online was a bad fluid level sensor. So I decided to troubleshoot the sensor. I disconnected the connector from the sensor and to my surprise, the sensor connector and a short piece of the wire harness (about 8 inches long) came out in my hand. I wanted to believe corrosion had eaten away the wire causing the the warning code but it was obvious the wire harness had been cut. I found the rest of the harness and it too was cleanly cut. I managed to repair it and the code cleared and the red BRAKE light warning was gone. The scanner confirmed I no longer had the fault code. The obvious question is who did this and when? I cannot prove if this was done at Kwik Kar but someone did this and it could have led to an expensive brake system "repair". Needless to say the trust is lost and I will not be using them again. Feb 2025 I was NEVER going to go back to this place...EVER! In late 2024 one of our family members needed to use a vehicle so I let them drive it for a while. As a gesture of thanks, they had the oil changed at...you guessed it, Kwik Kar in Rockwall on Horizon. I had not removed KK's sticker that reminds you when the oil should be changed so they unwittingly took it there. The vehicle sat for a while until I needed to use it and guess what, the BRAKE indicator was back on again and the scan tool showed the same C1008 code. I looked and the wire harness had been cut AGAIN! Only this time it was right up at the connector for the brake fluid level indicator. So now I get to replace the connector. I took some pictures but can't figure out how to include them in this review. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, CONSIDER MY EXPERIENCE BEFORE TAKING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS PLACE. This kind of stuff is criminal but I can't prove any of it. It's my word against theirs. My car was leaking after I left there so, I took it back and they checked it and said it was fine, but it still leaked. So, I took it to the Kwik Kar in Terrell and they found that the Horizon shop hadn't tightened the oil filter, and it was leaking so they fixed it and charged me a small fee. Normally, this location is extremely professional & helpful but today, was one of the worst customer service experience I've ever had! The regular guy (which I believe is the Manager) is always super sweet & helpful. The guy who checked me out after, was so obnoxiously rude that when I even pointed out that I was sorry to be an inconvenience for him. He didn't bother changing his attitude. Everything about his attitude, tone and behavior reflected how completely annoyed he was. Especially, when I questioned why I was being charged more than I was told it was going to be. I was planning on coming back, but whoever checked my wipers not sure what he did. As soon as I got on the highway, 5 minutes later started raining bad and one of the wipers blew away and it was not pretty not having visibility at all on highway 30 cause it was pouring. I Called the store back to ask for help and a solution and all I got was an irresponsible manager not willing to take responsability nor willing to take care of his customers. He rather saves a wiper expense than to keep a costumer who could have given the shop years of business. This place was awesome!!!! They totally help me out a pinch. I had a broken AC hose which was a DIY project and I just needed to replace the hose, but needed somebody to empty the refrigerant before I could repair it. I happened to be driving by and stopped off. They were more than helpful. Both discharging and refilling the AC. It was totally quick and easy. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I took my cause it was misfiring I know something about cars just didn't know if it was my spark plugs fuel system needed to be clean etc. so I took my car to get a diagnostics test to pin point what needed to be done the cost was 137 ok cool he come back and says I have an oil leak that's leaking on my spark plugs due to me needing a oil gasket and that I will need new coils and it will run me 2300. Bullshit I do not have a oil leak first of all and my cover was never removed for them to even look at anything and the receipt shows nothing that a diagnostics was performed at all. I have had the following experience at this shop - Oil Leaked from drain plug 2 changes ago. I took it back in and instead of replacing the plug that appeared to be stripped the technician said he "Flipped the gasket" and it's not leaking any more. However, after the most recent oil change it was leaking again. - During the most recent oil change the Manager removed one of our spark plugs and took it into the lobby to show my wife how "worn down" it was and how we really needed a tune up/replacement. However, I replaced these plugs personally less than a year ago. That very night I pulled the plugs and examined them and they were still in brand new shape. The plugs were in no need or replacement. See Picture. - After the last oil change when our plug was leaking again I was given a hard time about getting them to replace it. The manager insisted that oil plugs are parts that just "wear out" over time. However, no reputable mechanic (Professional and amateur) that I have talked with has agreed with this statement. Plug failures are due to cross threading and over tightening. - The shop did attempt to install a replacement plug. I was told that they put in a piggyback plug and that they also sealed it with a silicone sealant so it would not leak any more. However, one day later it was leaking again. - I called the shop to let them know their fix didn't work. The manager told me that at this point the only thing they could do was to replace the oil pan, that there was "no way" they could put another plug into it. I asked that since this is the only place we have had our oil changes for years if that was something they were going to take care of for us since it appears the damage was caused by them. The manager again insisted that oil plugs and pans getting stripped was normal wear and tear. She did offer to only charge me wholesale for the oil pan (she said $395) and would "just eat" the $40-$50 gasket price and that it would cost in total "only" $595. However, I found that the part was available at retail price at O'Reillys for $255 or on RockAuto for $185. Also, there is no $40-50 gasket, its just a silicone seal. - Because the information I was able to find online and from other mechanics was so at odds with the manager's statements I had a mobile mechanic come and look at our car to check the oil pan and the drain plug. He found that when this shop put the piggyback plug in they did not use a gasket at all and that the silicone sealant they used was destined to fail because the silicone can't adhere to oil. He said there was no way that fix would have worked long term the way it was installed. Additionally, he easily installed another oversized drain plug on the pan with no issues. It is not leaking anymore. Having a mobile mechanic come out and work on my car and replace the plug correctly cost me $120. We will not take any of our vehicles to this shop again because of these experiences. From our experience it appears that this shop attempted to sell us services we very clearly didn't need (they even tried to pass off a near new part as worn out), they gave us a hard time about fixing the damage it appears they caused, they again tried to sell me a service I didn't need (oil pan), and our discussions on pricing feel dishonest. I will be actively discouraging any of my friends/family and anyone who reads this review to take or continue to take your vehicle here. If you do I strongly recommend you not take their word on needed repairs without first getting a second opinion. If we had blindly listened to them we would have spent $160 replacing our already brand new spark plugs and $600 replacing an oil pan that only needed a correctly installed oversize drain plug. Finally, I attempted several different ways to find and get ahold of the actual owner of their franchise but if you try to call them and ask about the owner they hang up on you. read more

I have been coming to this location for over 7 years and have never had such an awful experience. I brought my car in for an oil change and went in to have a seat to wait. Normally there are waters and cokes available but there were none. After waiting a few minutes I was approached by a female mechanic that chewed me out for waiting so long to get me oil changed. The manufacturer recommends 7000 miles and she told me I needed to do it much more often. She continued to tell me how awful it was. They then tried to up change me on 5 different services I did not need. I am guessing this place is under new management. I will never go back!! read more

I went to Kwik Kar in Rockwall when NTB Rockwall said they couldn't fix my oil leak. I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing service by Kim. She had my car looked at then agreed to the job. This in itself was amazing because I certainly didn't feel like driving to Audi in Dallas. Kim communicated the progress with my via text every step of the way so I was never left to wonder. She also recommended some preventative service which I knew was probably overdue but wasn't yet aware of all the services they offered (tune ups, spark plugs, belts etc.) The prices were very fair. BEWARE of this place! I don't know if it's because I'm a woman or what, but I was given a price of $89.99 for a synthetic oil change or $49.99 for a regular oil change for my car, but I was CHARGED MORE than that when I checked out and there was no extra work or oil needed. I opted for the synthetic even though I told him that seemed high to me and he said yeah, prices have gone up. Of course they have gone up everywhere, so I agreed to $89.99. Of course while waiting they tell me my engine filters are dirty and I need 2 new ones, he shows me they are a little dirty, but I have no idea if they needed changing or not, so at $20 each, I went ahead and agreed. More on that later. So I paid the bill and he handed me my receipt. I started looking at it because it seemed high. Immediately I saw that they charged me $106.99 for the synthetic oil change and another $6.54 in shop supplies and oil fees, so now we are at $113.53 for the oil change only. Then of course the $40 for filters that I agreed to plus tax. I asked him why he charged me more for the oil change and he said oh I guess the price went up, but wait, when I said $89.99 seemed high, you told me the prices had recently gone up, so miraculously at 4pm after doing who knows how many oil changes that day, they went up again? So then he tells me the only thing he can do for me is give me a discount next time I come in. I'm thinking Next time? You lied to me and charged me more than what you said, so why would I come back? How about giving me a refund of what you owe me right now? Nope, it was a discount on my next visit! Needless to say, I was ticked when I left there! So now thinking that I can't trust these people, I go home and pull the Multi Point Inspection that the Dealership did on my car 5 weeks ago. Guess what, they marked off that they checked my engine oil filters and they were not needing to be replaced. And all of you reading this know the dealership would have recommended they be replaced if they needed to be. So I guess I paid an extra $40 for something else that wasn't needed. My bad for not being more versed in automotive repairs, but that's why we take our cars to these places. It's awful you can't trust anyone these days and people's words mean nothing and neither do reviews online!! Lesson learned I guess. Great customer service. Fastest state inspection I've ever had. They were busy and I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. To the reviewer who said they don't wear masks I had a different experience. Some had masks. Others didn't. They are only required when staying 6 feet apart isn't feasible and mechanics in a shop not wearing masks shouldn't effect you in slightest. Also if masks work so well why are you worried if someone's not wearing one. Yours will protect you. Right? read more
