I ordered from this place upon the recommendation of a coworker because she said it was good and close the job. She ordered teriyaki and gyozas and I ordered sweet and sour chicken. My food was HORRIBLE. Chewing on the chicken was like eating jawbreakers (mega marbles). The chicken was fried hard and drizzled in sauce. The sauce didn't soften the meat. Nothing could have saved this chicken. I thought the chicken would get softer as I continued, but it didn't. Every bit was harder than the last. I ate about 5 bits and threw the rest away. My sweet and sour chicken was unfit for human consumption. There was nothing edible about my meal. I didn't ask my coworker how her food was or if she liked her meal. I didn't care. I knew that if my meal was as bad as it was her meal couldn't have been any better. Totally a waste of money. If I could give ZERO STARS for this meal, I would have. What a waste of $20 :( read more

Wow. I got the chicken breast teriyaki bowl! The chicken is fantastic. The sauce has this slight kick that i can't put my finger on, but it really makes it stand out. It's their house sauce, bravo. It's peppers, sweet and i can taste the slightness of ginger. Chicken breast tender and juicy with a little chard edges. Good service, very nice asían lady made me feel welcome. Thank you. Fantastic mom and pop restaurant!! A lady warmly greeted us in the quaint restaurant. The menu included teriyaki (any meat or your choice) and also a wide range of korean dishes. My partner and I decided to share a combo platter with teriyaki chicken and kalbi/short rib (~$23). The food came out swiftly and piping hot. There was more than we expected! With the rice soaking up all the delectable teriyaki sauce, the meal included two large pieces of chicken cut up for us and around 6-8 pieces of kalbi. All the meats were cooked perfectly. Unexpectedly, I loved the simple pickled cabbage and carrots that cut the sweet, heavy teriyaki sauce. By the end of the meal, we were happy and stuffed! Contrary to what I was originally told, the "vegetarian" menu is NOT all vegetarian and definitely not vegan! I've gotten the tofu teriyaki and yakisoba at least twice checking each time to make sure it was vegetarian (no fish sauce, etc.). This most recent time, I found out that the sauce has always been non-vegetarian. "Vegetarian" menu is completely false advertising. These may be vegetable dishes, but they are NOT vegetarian. Vegetarians and vegans should not eat here! Staff is definitely not knowledgeable of what's in their dishes. I'm not upset there aren't many vegan options. I'm upset I was lied to and there's an entire "Vegetarian" menu that contains fish/oyster sauce. read more

It's a solid casual teriyaki joint. My partner and I came here because it was super close to our AirBnB. It's owned by a pair of Korean ladies. One is at the counter and the other is in the back cooking. The Yook Gae Jang had a nice spice to it in the beginning, but it was way too spicy to finish. They must have chopped up 3 Serrano chilies and put them in it because it was unbearably spicy. While it had a good flavor, it definitely upset my stomach. I have a high spice tolerance, but I don't think Yook Gae Jang should be that spicy. The tempura and chicken teriyaki combo was solid! It's a generous portion of food for what you're getting. Overall it's a no-frills Asian takeout spot. I would get the Yook Gae Jang again, but with no added Chile. read more

This is a nice teriyaki place in the heart of Capitol Hill. The interior is very basic and casual, but the food was good. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with gyoza. Service is pretty quick and the portions were a decent size. I started with the salad, which had a nice dressing. The gyoza were really good--nice and crisp with a tasty filling. They have a pretty good variety of the traditional favorites like short ribs and spicy soups. I ordered the Yook Ke Jjang which is shredded beef in spicy soup and it was delicious. It's shareable for 2. It also comes with rice which is great to eat with the soup. Also ordered the Kalbi which is short ribs with the bone. It was BBQ really well and came with rice and a side scoop of pickled cabbage. It's also shareable for 2. I don't think you can wrong with any of the options on their menu.
