First meal of my trip and I was seeking a quick teriyaki lunch. This was near work so it seemed an easy stop. Definitely a no-frills shop. I went simple with a mix of the spicy and regular chicken teriyaki, the cabbage salad, the stir fry veggies, and yakisoba. The chicken was fine. There's not much char on it and since it's sitting in containers, some was a little tougher/dried out. Both the spicy and normal were quite sweet. Now I'll say the cabbage salad was a nice balance for this. It's crispy and vinegary... a pickled cabbage. The stir fry veggies were ok, lightly seasoned and with a little crispness. The yakisoba noodles were tasty and a good portion. Not overcooked and a little chewy. Staff was nice though I was a little confused about getting the combo chicken meat and they didn't understand me at first. Eating at BB's has allowed me to focus on the higher tiers of Maslow's hierarchy, specifically self-esteem and belonging. I have eaten the same thing every time (large veg stir-fry, small broccoli, small cabbage salad, non-spicy chicken with regular sauce) and each and every meal has tasted the exact same. This is a feature. I have come here enough to redeem 2 free entrees, and I secretly hope that by now if I walk in, the workers would see my face and know exactly what I want. I realize however I am just one of the many lurking empty souls of South Lake Union that eventually phase through the building's doors, coming not because of any special offerings or divine flavors, but because we have only 10 or so minutes to eat before your manager pings you for your location. It was the perfect late lunch upon my arrival to Seattle. It is walking distance from downtown hotels and businesses. They are generous with their portions and they offer other meats as well as veg/vegan options. The service was fast and helpful. They answered my questions about the menu and offered me suggestions. Seating is available inside and outside on the courtyard that gets filled with locals during prime lunch time. Meh. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't great. It was, at least, cheap and close to the hotel, which were two things we were looking for at that point in time. They had a few other small groups dining in when we arrived, and even though it was almost 90 degrees and humid outside, they weren't using A/C inside the restaurant. It was *sweltering* inside (and it was cooler outside when we finally left, if you can believe that.) You order at the counter: Step 1, pick up to 3 bases (I went with the yakisoba-type noodles and broccoli, hubs got the white rice and broccoli); Step 2, pick a protein (I went with the tofu, hubs did the same); Step 3, pick a sauce (regular for both of us). And that's it, for $10. Thing is, they have this saying posted all over the place: #GetLostInTheSauce, and I found myself thinking, "how is that even a thing?" They give you two options - regular or spicy...how exactly does one get lost in something as sad as that? Anyway, the tofu was a bit overly-cooked, which made it dry, even though it was swimming in the sauce that we were supposed go get lost in. The yakisoba noodles had a slight sweetness to them that I found a bit off-putting, but at least the broccoli was perfectly steamed and vibrant. I have consistently eaten at BB's and love their food and service. I love the food so much that I use a punch card. Now after only servicing at the University location, I decided to use my punch card for my free 10th meal at the Westlake location. Not only was the woman who served me inhospitable, she gave an amount that was egregious and then began to question my punch card and held me In the line as she called and messaged the University location. This was disgusting I felt like a criminal after truly enjoying this business. I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS LOCATION AGAIN, not only that but as I waited in line the other server was making orders the size that normally reflect their business. I don't know if my race had anything to do with it but getting off work and being in my security uniform did not eliminate me from this trashy experience. This place is like a .. solid 2.8? Just very mediocre "teriyaki" feels like a cheap chipotle. I personally wouldn't get this again but its convenient . Ordered takeout from here mainly because of the price. 12 dollars for teriyaki seemed too good to be true. In the end, I guess it was. I got chicken with extra beef brisket and they were both extremely dry. The beef was borderline inedible and I had to drink 4 glasses of water with the meal. I also got a side of gyoza and it was alright. I couldn't eat the food without chugging a gallon of water. Even then, the beef was tough and hard to eat. The teriyaki flavor was alright I guess. With the abundance of great teriyaki places in Seattle, I definitely won't be trying this place again. read more
