Ordered a spicy chicken yabisoba to go during the weekday lunch time. It was pretty affordable given the portion + super quick since everything was precooked. Most order to go but there is ample seating if u want to eat there. The staff was super friendly and you could tell some regular workers dine there. Noodles were pretty starchy and too al dente for my taste but the pickled veggies gave some added relief and steamed veggie was standard. My husband and I shared everything and it was perfect for the two of us. The spicy chicken was not drowning in sauce and it was perfectly cooked! They also gave the sauce in the side and it was perfect with the spicy chicken. They also gave me a side of the sauce for the yakisoba and it added the right amount of flavor to the noodles. Not exactly a complaint but something to note is that the salad was very plain. It's just shredded cabbage. The yakisoba didn't have anything in it except for the noodles. Look, I GET it. Another teriyaki spot. But this place is different. I come here more than I should. I come here often on different days to make sure it is still good. I used to order the number 1 chicken and rice but if you look a little closer you can get something called spicy chicken yakisoba-- now that's where the fun begins. The owners are all friendly and will generously tell you the options. The tables are clean and the tv is always playing CNN at a comfortable level. Against the walls are complementary hot sauces, hot mustard and soy sauce if you need it. The process is simple: you approach the counter and place your order. I recommend the yakisoba noodles but if you like rice then go ahead. Order: SPICY CHICKEN YAKISOBA. At the end he will say "sauce on?" And your answer is always YES. Do not get sauce on the side. Sauce ON. It's sweet tangy savory in the right kind of way. The emulsion of the sauce and what I believe is Vietnamese Sambol Olek is phenomenal. Smoky, a little spicy, sweet and tangy. The price 13 bucks. A little pricy? You can thank inflation for that. The lease is super high for this area. 13$ is fair. Repeat after me: spicy chicken yakisoba, sauce ON. If you get heartburn because you're over 30 years old then get the regular chicken yakisoba, sauce ON. The chicken is charred well and still remains juicy. The sauce is primo because it's not overly sweet and not overly thick like other teriyaki places. This place accepts credit card with a convenience fee so pay cash if you have it. The 4 recent photos below don't lie! This teriyaki spot is consistent, convenient, and tasty. BONUS: this business supports the kids at O'Dea high school. Stumbled into this place in between meetings, and was pleasantly surprised by how good the chicken teriyaki and Cole slaw was. The space is pretty bare bones but with ample seating for lunch customers. Thr owner is the sweetest guy and very proud of his food ( as he should be) and genuinely interested in making his guests' experience a good one. Today one of the doctors I work with ordered lunch for all the staff. What a wonderful treat. So we ordered from Yoshino Teriyaki. I ordered Spicy Chicken Yakisoba and it was yummy. It was enough for 2 meals. The chicken had a nice spicy twang to it with stir fried veggies and Yakisoba noodles. Of course we had it delivered to the hospital and it was well package and still hot enough where I didn't need to warm it up. A very solid teriyaki shop on the medical district shopfront. I got takeout spicy chicken teriyaki, so the food got cold pretty fast in the clamshell, but the chicken and rice are in large portions and very tasty. As other reviews have said, the salad portion is pretty run of the mill. I haven't tried any of the other items but the spicy chicken is very reasonably priced. He is engaging and hilarious and obviously loves what he and his crew does which is serve up enormous portions of delicious teriyaki meals. Sweet, tender, and a little bit of spice. Loved it. His original teriyaki chicken is also good and he puts the sauce to the side so you can control how much of it you eat. Let's talk about his cabbage too! The cabbage is really good because it's pickled. Not sure if it's because I'm Korean and love pickled things, but wow that cabbage is good. According to Wikipedia, teriyaki originated in Japan in the 18th Century. But the apotheosis of teriyaki outside Japan has apparently occurred in Seattle. At least according to Wikipedia. So, it being Tuesday and all, time to check out Yoshino. Why? It isn't Seven Teriyaki. Yoshino's is distinguished by two things: the decor is divey and the owner isn't Korean. Wait, lots of teriyaki places have lousy ambiance. Ok, but this one is not, apparently, run by someone of Korean descent. Only one distinguishing characteristic. On to the food. I get pork teriyaki (Apparently in and of itself not really Japanese, but we are quibbling here.) and my lovely fiancee gets chicken. We share gyoza. Service is efficient. In fact, it is so efficient, that two women chose to eat in the restaurant. The pork was tasty if a tad on the dry side, sauce was not too sweet and didn't seem to have any weird additions, The ubiquitous 'salad' was, in this case, shredded cabbage with some kind of vinegar that gave a very sauerkraut vibe. It was a welcome contrast to the rest of the meal. The chicken is reported as 8/10. The gyoza (pork) are steamed, not fried, and are tasty and moist. Overall, the food was better than average and the atmosphere was spot on. And if you need a six pack, there's a small grocery next door. read more
