SCAM company! I just rented with Kyte and two days after the drop off they keep charging my card saying 'we had technical issues at the time and we didn't charge properly for taxes. Over $150 difference for a booking!!! So they quoted me with a price and I booked based on the QUOTED price then they have 'technical issues' and the client has to pay for it? My voucher didn't work for the uber, and so the guy at the kiosk told me to email kyte with my uber receipt after I purchased one on my own. I had used Kyte before, one good experience and one bad. Now my Dad is visiting so I suggested he use them for a good rate. 6 weeks after booking they emailed him to say he wasn't verified and cancelled his booking. No explanation, they just said they can't verify him and he cant rebook. As 6 weeks have passed he now has to seek another solution and prices have gone up significantly. So this delay in time now will cost him money. I had referred him, plus family members and friends, now I'll be encouraging everyone not to use kyte, as even if you have a booking, you may not. read more

Their directions are very clear for everything you need to do and it's about as easy as ordering something from Amazon. I was given a beat up car in the midsize price range that had been smoked in. The car stinks of cigarettes mixed with whatever fragrance they used to (unsuccessfully) try to cover it up. The person who checked me in even acknowledged it but said he couldn't cancel out the car and give me a different one bc he didn't know how. I tried all week to get a replacement but just kept getting told tomorrow. The car is so smelly I can't even put the windows up or use the AC. Everything you put in the car ends up smelly too. Terrible company with zero customer service, just a chat option via the app that isn't always attended. I've spent hours on that app trying to get assistance. Ruined my trip. read more

Pick up and drop off at your door by a very friendly representative. He was on time and they sent reminders 24 hours in advance and day off. Car selection was great. The experience doesn't deserve a star, unfortunately you don't get people to talk to only bot's through an app. Think uber and enterprise into one company but the "surfers' are late, but they mark it on the app that they already were there to not get in trouble. The vehicles come with a windshield unable to see through and went to put the windshield washer fluid was completely out and smeared everything worse than it was. I was completely blind....on the muholland drive. This company only gave me a credit for next time/no sir I will never be back. Great service and I used the love the concept of clean urban driving but it seems like they removed or reduced the subscription/ rental car option with electronic cars and now its regular cars. The website/ the app could need some better improvements because you can't make adjustments as they say you can, you can to reach out to customer service all the time. Overall the rental process was very smooth, and the car we received was in mostly good condition (other than an off-putting odor of dirty laundry that did not go away for the entire 4 days we had the car). ONE of the reasons I am writing such a poor review, however, is that when we returned the car and received instructions on how to use the Uber voucher to get back to the airport, the voucher didn't work properly and was giving the driver a pick-up and drop-off of the same location. I had to update the location in the Uber app, resulting in the ride price going way up and me having to foot the bill. When I contacted Kyte, they informed me that because I went with Uber Black they could not refund me the difference. I simply used the link, I don't usually use Uber Black I go with whatever is cheapest, and I don't really care about any fancy ride. I spent half an hour arguing with Kyte representatives and they still refused, saying they had it in their FAQs that you should use UberX over a certain price. Why would I read that while I'm in a rush to get to the airport?!? The extra money I had to pay for the ride is honestly not a big deal, but the fact that Kyte gave awful customer service and failed to take responsibility for their faulty link says a lot. That, coupled with other bad experiences I have had with Kyte recently and their rising prices (they are now much more expensive than most other rental cars) will make me avoid renting from this company in the future. read more

This would have been a 5 star review if it wasn't for having a car delivered with low air in the tires and having to refuel the gas tank....the light came on right away for the tires and I stupidly didn't catch a photo or say anything to the driver delivering the car. When I mentioned this to the person picking up car at the end of the trip they said there was nothing they'd be able to do since I hadn't said something prior to the trip. The one other downside is the cost of them refueling your car before returning it. Their rate is way too high and If you're renting for a long period of time that starts to add up. These are things that would lean me away from using Kyte in the future. It would have been nice to have better customer service in those regards. However, this rental car experience overall was GREAT! From start to finish it was a breeze. Not to mention the daily rate was the best when compared to 4 other rental car companies. I ended up shortening my trip due to a last minute change of plans. I was refunded and was able to make that change 24 hrs prior to car return. The flexibility and convenience was awesome! Like I said, this would have been a perfect review but needless to say I'll be a returning customer. read more

I live next to a Kyte Car garage that I walk by daily. I needed a rental for 10 days so I finally thought I would give it a shot. I reserved a car for tomorrow at around 6am this morning. AFTER you pay, they ask you to verify your identity by taking a picture of your ID and a selfie of your face. I do this task, and read that priority verifications are given to those with immediate trips. By 6pm, I had uploaded my photo and taken more selfies, as I kept getting notices that the software "can't match my face to my ID". I keep trying, again, this process is AFTER I've already paid. So I call the customer service line and told the agent the problem. She asked me to again submit my ID and take the selfies. I told her that Kyte "relying on this face scan technology is clearly not working and can an actual human confirm my photos?" She said she would call me back. An hour later my trip is canceled and The reason is because my "ID did not match my selfie." A refund was issued, but I literally wasted an entire day with this company going in circles only for them to cancel my reservation at 7pm in the Evening. Now I'm scrambling to find a car by tomorrow morning. Awful service. read more

Just replying to let everyone know, that although they responded to my first review about how they ruined our trip by 1) not having a delivery person the day of 2) not having a car due to maintenance? 3) blaming their "system" , promising to do everything to fix it, they have stopped responding to emails and messages through the app. They gave us so many excuses, and we didn't even ask for a total refund. We thought it was reasonable to just refund us the first day since they breached the contract and didn't communicate any of the issues they were having making us miss the first day of our vacation. We have not received any financial compensation. Do not use Kyte, there are so many other car rental services out there. I was a little nervous when I booked this because it was a new concept for me. But, unlike traditional car rental agencies, there was no long line to wait in, and the rental agreement was all digital and took about a minute to sign before I got the keys. I picked up the car from LAX which works a little differently than their usual pickups, but it was surprisingly smooth, and less expensive than the traditional agencies. They could not deliver my car for 2 hours - they said due to a glitch in their system and the surfer who finally brought a car said that they were short handed and only had him and a manager working. Short-notice trip to LA required a rental car from LAX for 4 days and my 5 prior experiences with the name brand rental car companies over the last 18 months at LAX had been dismal: time sucks with abysmal customer service with a heaping side of bad attitude. So when I saw something called "Kyte" at the top of my search list was nearly 1/2 price I decided to see what the "catch" was. Did a little research and decided to take a leap of faith. Great News: There's no "catch"! Instead I found a smart solution to the sad state of traditional car rentals at LAX. Instead of finding the rental car shuttle stop, waiting in line, and cramming into a shuttle bus for the ride to the rental car agencies, I got my luggage and activated my Uber Black voucher within the Kyte app. In less than 5 minutes, a lovely sedan pulled up curbside at the terminal and off we drove for a peaceful ride to the Kyte pickup site. A shorter overall time from baggage aim to car and a far more relaxing ride than the rental shuttle! Especially with a few heavy suitcases in tow. Once at the Kyte location, I had my car in less than five minutes with the help of an employee who didn't hate his job or need to dump a bad attitude on me. The return was equally seamless and played out in reverse of the pickup. I had the option to have them refuel it with a reasonable surcharge over the cost of has for the employee's time. However, there was a nearby gas station had I chosen that option. The Kyte location was in a clean, safe, well-lit location in a neighborhood area of professional office towers. I had zero qualms about being alone there. I have already begun singing Kyte's praises to friends and will continue to do so! Other cities processes likely work a bit differently, but given how efficiently they've solved the LAX "cluster--", I have confidence their workaround for other busy locations will be well-designed. Kyte is a company that exploits the best tech in 2023 and looks to the future instead of those last century business models whose tech zenith may have been 1993--and the wear shows. Kyte made a hard trip easier--more efficient and pleasant--and that's what a "service" company should do.
