I planned a weekend visit to see my besties and didn't want to put miles on my car but bc of work, I wasn't able to go into a rental place to get a car. When I called, the lady said that I could plan when to get the car dropped off to me and when they can come pick it up so I figured I would try Kyte. BIG MISTAKE The guy who dropped off my car on Saturday morning was over an hour late! I kept on calling the office but they didn't answer. He apologized saying there was traffic, gave me the keys and left. He didn't give me any paperwork like I was told I would get either. The car was mediocre. It got me where I needed to go and back. When I got home, I waited again. And again I called and called and no answer. Finally I got a phone call from them. She called to say that the driver is going to be running behind. THREE hours later, the same guy came to pick up the car. Not apologizing. I got a full refund and the lady apologized profusely but it was too late. I will never use Kyte again. read more

I've had great experiences with Kyte. They're fairly priced and PUNCTUAL- no waiting an hour at the rental place. The people they have working for them have been great-- I have to specifically call out for praise their driver John Edwards, who apart from being such a cheerful and friendly person, was beyond the normal agree of helpful. After noticing I left my painting in the car once he left, immediately notified me. Not only that, he volunteered to customer service to drop it back off on one of his next trips instead, which saved me an hour long trip. What a horrible rental experience from start to finish because of the delays my trip took two extra hours due to weather and traffic Can't reach by phone, AI and customer support ineffective.. Just a recap -Rental cancelled as I was duplicate even though you had my license that showed it was just different emails personal and business -extensive back and forth to get suv and previous price frustrating not to be able to reach a rep by phone -Rep couldn't rebook spent an hour at 3 am dealing with it and could not get committed delivery time of 730 delivery driver very nice and acknowledged odor -Rearranged schedule for 10 am delivery driver late and arrived with car with overpowering odor -Driver took car back rearranged schedule for delivery at 11:30 Driver came back at 12:15 and could not get app to work Car dirty mud on trunk -offered $30 off "future" rental not a fair compensation for the time and inconvenience. Finally gave me a whopping $40 off...not a fair compensation..should have waived rental or given significant discount... -As a result of scheduled calls that I intended to take from road had to delay trip til two ended up with horrendous traffic and fog that I would not have experienced had I had car at either 730 or 10. Rep who picked up car was outstanding-if all the employees had his skills I would never have had the problem. I have rented hundreds of cars including from Enterprise Hertz Avis Payless Budget Fox and NEVER had a worse experience. Owner says they founded to redifine customer service/experience-with my rental he was successful.. Note owner suggested I email...I have shared all of the above in counter communication with his customer support team-none of this is new in fact I even informed them I was going to share on Social Media..customer support was extremely unresponsive. Kyte is awesome. Any changes need to be done 2 hours before, which worked well for us. We missed our flight into LAX so this was very helpful for us. I was given a malfunctioning car that put my safety in danger!! I was driving on the 405 freeway in the middle of Friday afternoon traffic on one of the most crowded freeways in California 405 when the AC suddenly stopped working, there was hot air blowing then the car started overheating when I was in the middle lane, when it began to make weird noises I managed to pull over on the side. I was not able to charge the phone because the USB plug inside the car wasn't working either. I was trying to contact the customer service, it took a good 30 minutes to receive any reply and I was asked to take pictures. Of course the communication happens only via messages in the app and it takes forever! Completely unreliable in such risky situation. I had to open to hood to cool the engine and find out that there was no cooling liquid in the container! The car could have burned and my safety was in danger. Now they offer me $75 compensation after 3 days of complaining and talking to customer service. I have not been treated seriously. Horrible customer service!!!!! read more

Their prices are good and the surfers usually are really nice but their actual customer service is atrocious. They just had to reschedule my drop off to a time I wasn't available and then they offered me $25 credit but no refund for the day. With multiple back and forths offering more times that I wasn't available I said I would just cancel to get my refund for the day and then he said he wouldn't give me the $25 credit. I have multiple other terrible customer service horror stories from kyte. They have no care or concern in pleasing dissatisfied customers. read more

I had read mixed reviews on line but I needed the exact service Kyte offers. And the service was better than I hoped. My car had a software bug and had to be towed to service. there were no loaner cars available. (so I was in a terrible mode and panicked) All the traditional car rental companies were closing. Kyte to the rescue! I downloaded the app, crossed my fingers after reading the reviews and booked a car at 60% less than what I was quoted from Enterprise and Hertz. PLUS they brought me the car to my home and at the end picked up the car from my home! I did not have to get a ride, take an uber etc. The Kyte "surfer" was 15 minutes early both times of the appointments I made. Great price, super convenient, nice new VW Atlas. The car was not freshly washed but clean enough, interior was fairly clean. For me having a nice person bring me the car, pick up the car and pay less than half was a huge win!! Is this a scam? Prepare for 1) you enter your cc to lock that great rate and "unfortunately that rate is no longer available"; or 2) you get that great rate (congratulations!) but then AFTER you've paid you get an email asking you to enter your license # and Kyte cancels you trip because they were "unable to verify your information ". Huh ? I have a perfect driving record. Avoid frustration and just go with a company that has their %+* together. read more

I was a Kyte believer! Horrible, horrible service -- and this is coming from a customer who previously was a champion of Kyte, recommended it to many friends and family, and even got on an uncompensated call with the developers to give feedback! First, the actual airport pick up isn't from LAX. They only gave me my uber voucher once I asked customer service what I was supposed to do (why didn't they already send it in a pre-planned email?). I asked for my uber voucher for when I returned the car, so that I wouldn't run into the same problem. They refused to send it then, and assured me I would receive the code two hours before drop-off. Needless to say, I never received the uber voucher to go back. I asked multiple times when I dropped the car off, and finally booked my own uber. When I sent my receipt to the Kyte representative, he agreed to reimburse me, but refused to reimburse me for the tip! Lmfao The worst part, however, was the actual pick up of the car. When I got to LAX, I got a message 15 minutes before the scheduled pick up time that our drop off person was running late, and that they would update us when the person started their trip to bring us the car. We waited for over an hour in LAX (no places to sit there), and received no updates. Finally, I had to message another customer service rep, who said the drop off person was ready and had been ready since our actual pick up time. They gave me a 25 dollar credit (not reimbursement), that could only be used towards other Kyte charges. This was a truly disappointing experience. It's an interesting idea and I previously thought it was really great! But I don't think I'll ever take Kyte again. It's worth spending more to rent from a more established rental company and avoid the hassle and extreme inconvenience. Avoid Kyte. read more

I can't recommend Kyte enough. You download the app and do it all in about 5 minutes. When I landed in LA, they send you a voucher to get an uber and you take it to the offsite location in El Segundo. My car was ready and off I went. I had to change the return time by a few hours and rather than calling into a rental car place and dealing with their nonsense, I did it on the Kyte app and all was good. Once I dropped it off, they send you a Uber voucher to get the LAX and it is all a very smooth process. I want to use Kyte everywhere I go now! Thank me later! read more
