This place is eh. We came here mostly because it's close to home and we were just browsing. We've worked with other cabinet shops in the area and the experience has been better. Pros: Sales people were pretty friendly and patient with our many questions. We worked with Chloe who was great about helping us figure out what would fit with our kitchen configuration. They are happy to set you up with a visual of what your kitchen looks like with the selections, if you have plans that have dimensions. Obviously the more info you have the more clear of an idea they can give you on what your choices will look like, in context. Cons: Not the most options (i.e. for wraparound kitchen island attached to counter, they only had 8 foot option. Other store I went to had both 9 (as listed in our plans) and 8). Cabinet quality doesn't look the greatest. I never purchased here because I wasn't sold on their durability and some of the cabinet faces look chintzy. Price isn't the greatest for the value, but this is my personal opinion based on our visits and quotes with other similar price-point places in Burlingame and Bayview. read more

We used KZ a few months ago to install a granite countertop in our bathroom. Here's the rundown: Pros: Nice selection of granite, and cheap. After visiting Home Depot, Lowes, and places in San Jose that sell granite remnants and what not, we found KZ's prices for the granite+installation to be cheaper than everywhere else. The salesman in the store was courteous and helpful, and spoke English well (it's a Chinese-owned company). They had little sample pieces of some of their granite so you could take it home and see how it looks in your home. Easy on-site parking. So in general, our experience in their showroom went well, and we decided to have them install our countertop. Cons: They charge you in-full for the job beforehand. According to the salesman, this is standard practice and the way they have always done it in all the years they've been in business. Unfortunately they messed up our installation, and it was only after much haggling with the salesman and the contractor that they agreed to fix it. They initially only offered various compromises where we would have to pay part of the cost of the repair, or live with a sloppy patch job. Fortunately I speak just enough Mandarin to hash this through with them (the contractor spoke almost no English), and they eventually fixed it. In the end we were happy with how everything looked. So... despite the hassle and the extra energy and days it took to get everything fixed and properly installed, my husband says he probably would still use them again, especially if you're on a limited budget, as long as you know what to expect and how to manage them. And if you speak Chinese. (As an aside, we learned through this process that even though they charged our credit card already, we could file a dispute with our credit card company so they wouldn't get paid unless the issue was resolved. Nice to have some recourse.) Other notes: - They don't do plumbing, so plan on hiring someone else for that, and factor that into your total costs. - We didn't like their cabinets or other fixtures -- did not appear to be of good quality. Stick to the granite and get your other stuff elsewhere. read more

Our contractor and real estate agent independently recommended this place, so we stopped by. Our contractor makes his own cabinets as well and he said if you want good quality from China at half the price of custom made, then KZ was what he recommended short of having it made by him. The customer service is typical for Chinese type establishments, but they were relatively friendly and understanding about toddlers in the store. The selection is EXTREMELY limited, so if you are picky, you should go elsewhere. They have 8 styles & colors (8 total, not 8 styles + different colors) of cabinets, so you have to sort of like what is there. But their prices are very good. For a large L shaped kitchen with a large island, the price is between $4500 and $7500 for the cabinets depending on style. The granite is quite good for the price too. About 30% less than other places for precut. The fixtures were plain. Nothing fancy, but you can get those anywhere. read more

Recommended by my uncle. Staff at KZ were incredibly friendly and helpful without being aggressive. They never once tried to upsell me-- I had already selected another vendor for cabinet needs, and was looking for counter top options. KZ's counter tops (granite and quartz composites) are super competitively priced (plus they're willing to negotiate). Working the Chinese connection may have helped a bit, but I overheard some of staff's conversation with a non-Chinese customer, and they seemed to treat everyone equally well. Quality of materials and labor were both very good. I haven't gotten much wear out of the counter tops yet so I can't comment on longevity, but I love the way it looks-- elegant, and NOT Ikea-like. Service was also incredibly fast, provided they have what you want in stock. Turn around time can be as fast as next day installation, which I found to be quite impressive. OVERALL: As of now, I'd definitely work with them again for any kitchen/counter top needs. Some time needs to pass before I can comment on quality... update to come in the future. read more

Last May I worked with George when getting my kitchen remodeled. I found him to be very knowledgable and honest with me. He's been one of the most efficient people that I've worked with. during construction my contractor claimed that I cannot put a double sink vanity due to plumbing difficulties. I called George to ask if I can change from the double sink vanity and countertop to a single. He understands the customer's needs well and suggested the best solution to me. He canceled the original order and switched it for the latter one with very little difficulty, which is usually a complicated task! George was reliable and sold his sturdy products at reasonable prices and I would recommend his services to anyone else. read more

We remodeled our kitchen in Nov of 2016 and we chose cabinets and prefab granite counter-tops. We were very satisfied with our selection and Wendy's 5-star service. She is extraordinarily patient and accommodated some last minute changes in our cabinet order. All in all it was a very satisfying experience. Recently, we discovered some chips in the granite that seem to be growing in size. At this rate, it does not seem like the counter-top will survive more than 5-years. I would advise anyone buying their granite from KZ to be very careful with their selection. Take a magnifying glass to the warehouse if you have to but make sure that your slabs are in perfect order before they are installed. Unfortunately, once they are installed, they become your headache and not theirs. In summary, 5-stars for the great cabinets and wonderful service from Wendy but disappointing counter-top quality. KZ has a really nice showroom and diversified products. The customer service is the best.

We used KZ for new cabinets and countertops for our kitchen renovation. We looked at a number of vendors and stores at different price points, and KZ offered (by far) the best combination of quality and price. Their cabinets are all plywood construction with soft-close hardware, and their countertops are granite or quartz. The range of colors and styles and cabinet dimensions is not as extensive as other places, but we found it sufficient for our purposes, and we discovered that you can still get pretty creative to fit the options to your space. George on the showroom/design side is terrific. He was very good and patient with us as we considered different layouts and color schemes and other options. We probably stopped by a half dozen times over the course of a month before settling on a design and making our purchase. We also used KZ's installation services, though you can work with your own contractor. We're very glad that we went with KZ (Hong and his crew): their work is very professional, high quality, and fast. They also installed our appliances, replaced our hood venting with 7" ducting, and took care of the plumbing (fixture, disposal, water filter). Note that your experience will likely be much better if you are a Chinese speaker (Mandarin or Cantonese), particularly on the installation side. The service itself is no different, but you will likely have an easier time communicating preferences and resolving issues and changes that will inevitably surface as the work is being performed. The end result was even better than we expected. We were very impressed by the quality and workmanship. We would highly recommend and use KZ again. read more

Bought a full kitchen of Chocolate maple/black cabinets from KZ. George was great to work with, helping me with many, many iterations of our kitchen design, layouts, and pricing. The pricing blew away nearly every other cabinet quote we received, and we have been happy with the kitchen. Several years later, I needed help with some shelf clips, and George helped arrange them with the warehouse. We have had the cabinets for 3 years now. For the cabinets, they are solidly built (canadian maple) but we have had some issues: - Upon delivery, many of the doors had tape on them which could not be removed; Had to pick up new door fronts, and contractor had to re-hang them to make them straight, since each door has hinges in slightly different places - Several cabinets have the black paint finish chipping off now; Unpleasant, but had the same problem with custom professionally painted cabinets. - Many of the hinges often loosen up with use; A dab of loctite fixes it up. - Some drawers don't close perfectly straight For the price, they are awesome cabinets, look great, and were worth the hassle of multiple trips to their warehouse (where Chinese is spoken clearly, and finding an english speaker is difficult). read more

George at Mountain View KZ is the best! I've done a bit of business with other KZ locations, and I definitely recommend working with George. Pros: - George is very friendly and patient. He always answers the phone and clearly answers questions. He also has a good design sense, and made some good suggestions to our kitchen cabinet design. - Natural Maple Cabinets we ordered are great quality and look wonderful. - Everything was in-stock on install day :). George is good at making sure of this. - George is very honest. After a few of our counterop choices were out of stock, George recommended that we go elsewhere to get our countertop. This was a great tip. Cons: - You or your contractor are responsible for any changes or updates, all sales final. At the end, we did return a few filler pieces that we had ordered extra in case we had measured wrong, but I'm not sure how they would be about returning whole cabinets. - Countertops are often out of stock. Tips: - Get Jackie from KZ as your contractor. He knows the ropes, speaks both Mandarin and perfect English. There will be seamless returns if something is scratched. He warned me for example, that my dishwasher wasn't going to fit under the countertop, so he put plywood under the cabinets to raise them up. He does excellent work. He rounded off some countertop corners because one was chipped, and made a funky end-corner at 45degrees at my request. It all came out beautiful. - If you have a low ceiling, I recommend using Scriber instead of Crown Moulding to cover the cabinet-to-upper-ceiling gap. read more
