The caller was polite and listened but the problem with the product still has not resolved even after following their recommendation. The store is nice and clean, they have a variety of items in their showroom. Lots of deals going on for Mother's Day. I've been using their products for close to two decades. When I first hear about this $300 rice cooker, I was like... what does it do for you? Does it cook an entire meal for me? After I started using their rice cooker, I no longer use the other brand name Japanese rice cooker anymore. This rice cooker in pot is stainless steel. It doesn't get scratched like the nonstick coating ones. It's been lasting for a long time for me with my current rice cooker and still functioning properly. Like many recently built homes, our place came with a combination microwave/range fan mounted over the stove. These are a convenient, space saving design that is very popular, and they work fine for typical home cooking, however 90%+ of our meals are made in a high temperature wok which produces more steam, smoke and oil than you would think. We were constantaly changing filters and taking the hood apart to clean oil out of the bottom pan. Our home in China has a much better system, designed for our style of cooking so we set out to find a place that could provide the Asian style hood for our home. After searching we visited Pacific Kitchen Life. We arrived with a picture of our existing setup and measurements. Sandy explained that our hood only produced 300 CFM and for our type of cooking we needed something 900 CFM or higher. She showed us all of the models which they carry, explaining the differences between them. After some consideration we selected a TruSteam model which had a self-cleaning function built-in. Pouring distilled water into a reservoir creates steam on demand which cleans the oil and cooking residue from the hood and collects it in a removable drip pan. This looked like a much better way to maintain the hood than what we were doing before so we were excited. Our model was in stock and Sandy booked an installer to deliver our new range hood to the house, remove the old one and install the new one. They even offered to take the old one away and dispose of it, but I opted to keep it because I knew my neighbors in the HOA all had the same unit and thought somebody could need it for parts. I posted on my HOA user group and somebody took it right away. The installer arrived on-time the day of the appointment. He was pleasant, quick and skillful. The project was complete in less than two hours. Since installing the new range hood we are much happier. The steam cleaning works as advertised and the new hood sucks all the cooking smells out, making our home less smelly when cooking. The only downside is we had to buy a separate countertop microwave, but it's worth it. The total project, including a new microwave ran us about $1200. Pacific Kitchen Life did a fantastic job. Their professionalism is greatly appreciated. I recommend using them. read more

Since I already did my research and narrowed down for the same the specific model, her detailed recommendation confirmed my choice. Why 4.5 stars but not 5? She is just too good of a salesperson. Even though she would point out the cons, she downplays some of the cons. Installer: I got a reminder call 2 days before the installation date, was given a 4 hour window, and also received a call 30 minutes before his arrival in the installation date. He finished the installation in 1 hour. Why 3 stars but not 5? Lack of transparency and honesty. I ordered a metal panel to cover up the holes in the backsplash for the microwave range hood mount. The installer said we didn't need it and it easily get our hands cut if we are not careful on cleaning. He asked me to call customer service for a refund. You know what I saw on his customer item lists? It said the metal panels are out of stock! They should be more honest with customers. I would have waited up to few more weeks for that. Now that range hood is installed, there is probably no easy way to install it. Not cool. I have to patch those holes on the backsplash. Customer Service: So I called them to ask for the refund of the metal panel. The customer rep handled it like she's done it a million times. She didn't give me any hard time, and it was refunded immediately. All in all, I got the product I needed but not everything I wanted. Sandy spent almost 15 min on selling me the metal panel for nothing. I truly recommend Sandy when you go inside the shop. Make sure you have done some homework on what you want and need, and ask plenty of questions. read more

Just FYI, this place is also known as Pacific Range Hood on Google. Overall, this place does carry a decent amount of products that work but be aware, this place is unreliable! They do not stick to their words and will never accept that they are wrong. If you do plan to buy items here, get EVERYTHING in writing and hold on that + receipt for dear life. We called and asked them about a warranty but after deliberating with them, they will shut you down and tell you, they will carry the complaint to the "company". Also, we brought a rice cooker to cook rice...not to wash vegetables in (LOL, this is what Sandy told us on the phone when we told them our rice cooker was giving us an error and that there is no warranty!) If you purchasing a rice cooker that you plan to use often, steer away from this store. For two very expensive rice cookers now, they barely last more than two years. We had a zephyr before and loved it. These are the best range hoods available and highly recommend the product. Unfortunately everything was great up until installation. They are unlike other appliance vendors and they have an in house installer and set pricing which we thought was convenient. We needed a roof duct installed and they said they could do it. Unfortunately when the time came the installer said he cannot do it well and he's not a roofer so it will leak when he does it. He tried to convince us to do a wall install. We did not want a wall install. What I do not like is that Pacific sells this installation but when it comes down to it they will not do it. We know there should have been no issue with install. If Pacific was upfront with us I would have not purchased from them. The whole thing became a logistical mess as we have to do the work backwards. We are waiting for the roofer to cut the hole for the duct and will have to finish the work ourselves. I only recommend Pacific if you have a contractor doing the install. read more

This is my third insulated mug purchase from here. The price is usually around $20 for the mug. I like how it has a tea filter embedded inside and it's pretty easy to clean. I got the updated purple mug but only to realize that the rim is a bit sharp compared to the old buffalo mugs. Last week, all of a sudden though, some of the touch buttons would not function properly. A quick yelp/google found a local pacific range shop and immediately I went to inspect the products. Due to covid and I was waiting outside until enough customers left the showroom, this wasn't too long. Once I entered, I was greeted by Sandy, who explained the various options and ranges. She was great and communicated well, so there and then I bought the TruSteam SC88 and booked for it to be installed mid March. You'll also have to fill in a worksheet, this is basically a getting measurement of your existing system, pretty easy. The technician came, was polite and installed in less than an hour. He also took away the old microwave over the hood. Depending on your cooking, probably the best kitchen upgrade you should get immediately, definitely has more power and reduces the smell around the house. I recommend paying a visit. read more

We've searched for way too long for a healthier stir fry pan, and we've found it here! They sell the Buffalo brand of cookware, which uses stainless steel for the cooking surface, so food doesn't come in contact with aluminum (the aluminum is sandwiched between two stainless steel layers). And it doesn't use those chemical nonstick coatings that can give off questionable vapors. We've tried carbon steel (The Lodge) and seasoning the pan and cleaning it is a pain. The ceramic pans often have aluminum directly underneath, and you have be careful as the ceramic layer can eventually fade or chip away. We've used the pans and it's not bad to clean them. Also the Buffalo cookware is not made in China, but in Malaysia. The store itself looks kind of random, a bunch of inventory in boxes behind the counter, and a somewhat empty looking display space in front. read more

Went in one day looking for a range hood and Lisa was nice and explained how the unit works. There was a "promotion" for a free air fryer, the unit had a contractor discount that she was willing to apply. I say "promotion" because they give away free items all the time. The promotion was set to last until a certain date. I was told I can come in at a later time with the sales quote before the promotion ends because I don't have place to store the unit. A few days before the "promotion" ended, Lisa called to confirm if I was still coming in. I told her I couldn't come in until the week after and she said she will hold the promo and sales order until I come in next week. I went in today with my sales quote only to find out that she cannot honor the sales quote. She claimed that the company switched systems and my sales quote is no longer valid, even when I had the print out they gave me! She mentioned that she was only extending the "promotion" of the free item and not the sales quote. She also did not mention to me of the price increase over the phone when she called me. There were 2 employees at the store and I went in at 6pm and tried to work out the problem with them for 30 mins. As it gets closer to 6:30pm, I felt like I was was getting forced out. Their tone got more rough and rude and basically forced me out and asked me to come back when I'm ready to pay the current price. They did not want to honor the sales quote and verbal agreement for the extension. Very disappointed at the service and outcome as I really wanted the particular range hood. The quality of the product is above average but the price is very high. The services are still in the old Chinese style - that is as soon as you bought the product, you could not return it. In my recent experience, I bought two of functional series woks, a set of pressured cookers and a electric rice cooker. The rice cooker was great because it used stainless steel. Otherwise, it is the same as a popular Japanese brand. I liked the pressured cookers because they are operating under gentle pressure. This means no chicken flied to the kitchen ceiling. Of the two functional woks, I agreed the smooth surface worked well for Asian cooking. The problem we had was the service when I tried to return the 40cm wok which is too big for our stove. They were so buffalo! The man first said to the lady that the box was opened and could not be returned. Well, I could speak Cantonese. As I explained it has not been used therefore it is returnable. He changed his tactic. He said he found scratches on the bottom. And he gave a few "you should have not......" If I returned it, a 20% restocking fee will be charged. For the price of the wok, that is $65 restocking fee. What can I say! At home, I studied the scratches under a 30X magnifier and a 80X microscope, they are likely from manufacturing polishing imperfection. If the size was right, I would not care these three hair lines. When I called their San Francisco store, the nice lady explained one more time of the return policy and suggested I selling it to a friend. No kidding, the services from PKL were so outdated and backward. BTW - I remembered when I went to BB&B to purchase a 12" All-Clad frying pan, I asked the cashier "if I don't like it, could I return it?" She replied, "if you are not happy with it, you can return it. No question asked!" Of course I did not return it. Just hearing this kind of statement, I felt the service and the quality of the product is superior. read more

I had Patrick who came to install and he was very helpful and professional. I originally had ordered a plate to cover the wall after the microwave was removed, but we found out it was tiled and he made sure I was refunded for it (even emailed me afterwards to make sure). Went here to get a new "chou you yan ji" (aka stove hood) for the kitchen. The store has a good reputation for providing quality hoods, and if you've ever watched Chinese television, you've probably heard at least one of those ubiquitous tai-ping-yang-chou-you-yan-ji commercials. (you know what I'm talking about yeahh) The store is simple and easy to browse. The only real drawback is that because there is only one person manning the store, it can take 20+ minutes before your questions are addressed. The hoods range from $200-$600. After browsing for a bit, we picked a simple one for $279 (tax included). The best part about Pacific Range Hood? Their price tag includes free installation, a 10 year warranty on the parts, and a 5 year service warranty. Sweet deal. read more

When looking for an Asian range hood, we visited Pacific Range & Hood's locations in both Sunnyvale and Oakland. I echo the comments from other reviewers that the customer service could be improved at the Sunnyvale location. The Oakland store had more knowledgeable staff, who were much better at explaining the advantages of their product. It may have been that the two times I visited the Sunnyvale store, they were too busy to bother with long explanations. In any event, we wound up buying from the Oakland store, even though the Sunnyvale location was much closer. Regarding another reviewer's comment about the cfm: the size of your ductwork, number of bends, and length to the outside can greatly affect the efficiency in removing air (cfm). You can't really compare the same range hood when installed in two different locations. The other location may have had an 8" duct that had a short, straight distance to the outside. read more

I have been to this place twice now. Each time for a range hood. I haven't encountered any major problems with the brand. Overall, the place is ok. It helps if you speak Mandarin because that is the main clientele that they cater to. As a person who speaks little to no Mandarin, it was really difficult to get my point across to them. Of course you can speak English but you will need to repeat or reword often. They do often have promotions where they would give woks, knives, etc., when you buy a large ticket item. The deals are popular so they often run out of it. I have had to wait over 4 months because they were back-ordered on a hot water pot. At least the deal was good. read more

Came in to get a new range hood. They were very busy probably due to last minute XMas gift promotion (buy a fan & get 2 gifts). They had the fan I wanted in stock; they helped me load the fan into car too. 20 minutes after I left the store; the lady called and told me they loaded the wrong fan. She sounded very apologetic for the mistake and offered to give me a 3rd (smaller) gift if I go back to the store and return it. Luckily I live around the area otherwise I would be extremely upset. Next day, I went in the store for exchange; the lady quickly helped me & apologized. In addition to the 3rd gift, she also credited me $20 for the extra driving hassle without me asking. Yes, it did caused me an extra trip to the store, but their quick response & right attitude made a big different. Because of a kitchen remodel, I decided to replace my current pacific hood of 6 years even though it was still running well. I called the store on a Sunday (they were open!) and was lucky that they had the hood in stock. Sandy did an awesome job of explaining all the functions about the new hood I wanted and even told me a few things I didn't even know it could do! Can't believe I've known so little about these hoods all these years. She was professional and clear about the warranty and even shared little tips and tricks about how to better maintain the unit.
