I've been to this location three times and your Santa Monica Blvd. location once. Overall, my experiences have been decent. I wouldn't say the customer service has ever been outstanding, but it's generally been good. During my previous visit, I spent around $700 adding two new piercings and switching out jewelry. The piercer who helped me was incredible. I wish I could remember her name because she truly had an artist's eye. She helped curate my ears beautifully, adding charms and small triangle studs that I absolutely loved. Near the end of that appointment, while we were still in the treatment room, she asked if she could step out to do a quick jewelry change for another customer. I found that unusual as we were already in service. I also had another appointment that I needed to get to so I felt my time didn't matter! Anyways I overlooked it because I had otherwise enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, my most recent visit completely changed my opinion. I came in to purchase a solid gold swallow bird piece, which was close to $500, and have it installed. I had seen it on Friday and returned Monday specifically to buy it. The piercer helping me, who mentioned she was new from Bakersfield, immediately came across as uninterested. When I asked about the bird jewelry, she didn't even attempt to look for it and simply said, "I don't know." The receptionist then stepped in, searched the display, and found the exact piece. It was the last one. Once we went into the piercing room, I mentioned that my current jewelry felt a little tight, but throughout the appointment her demeanor remained cold, short, and dismissive. She changed the jewelry, but when she couldn't find a bag for my previous piece, I ended up offering one from my purse. Nothing catastrophic happened, but customer service is about how you make people feel. When someone is spending hundreds of dollars on fine jewelry and trusting you with body piercings, warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness matter just as much as technical skill. Sadly, this experience left such a poor impression that I won't be returning. read more

This was my first time getting a cartilage piercing, so I was honestly pretty nervous going in. The staff were incredibly patient and friendly, and they kept talking to me during the process which helped me calm down a lot. I got my second lobe piercings & a side labret. She is extremely attentive about placement. I've already come here 3 times so far, so this review is definitely overdue. Overall, I highly highly recommend this place for the following reasons: Service - the staff are so accommodating, patient and thoughtful. They accept appointments or walk-ins and enthusiastically answer any of your questions over the phone. I've gotten my upper lobes, conch, flat and helix piercings all done here with various phenomenal staff members (esp Amber & Katherine); oftentimes, I wasn't sure what would look best on me so they recommended my placements! They are very communicative about the process and healing guidelines and are generally a pleasure to talk to~ Cleanliness - I can't stress enough about how important it is that a piercing establishment looks tidy and well-maintained. I got a previous helix piercing done at a different place and that kept getting infected, so I decided to let it close. But I have never had that issue here! Price - Yes, this place is a little steep. BUT you do get great quality service and jewelry with titanium backings. On top of that, they allow you to reuse jewelry you bought from them for future piercings (which I have done twice), so it's a worthwhile investment IMO! In those cases, you only have to pay for the service fee and new backing(: They also participate in offering Friday the 13th deals (most recently $10 pokes all weekend)! been here for 2 sets of piercings (4 pokes) and after care. they are great. knowledgeable, professional, honest (they will tell you if your anatomy makes it likely that you'll have problems or if it can't handle a particular piercing/size), and kind. i am a middle aged adult male, not really in a body-mod/alternative cultural context, work a suit and tie job in a conservative sector, had lots of basic questions and some nervousness; and they were gentle and patient to explain everything and talk me through, with zero sales or time pressure; they didn't make me feel dumb or awkward for not knowing and checked repeatedly to make sure i was comfortable with the information. front of house staff were really pleasant and the facilities are clean and "nice" (this isn't the gritty tattoo parlor experience, not that there is anything wrong with that, but this is more like a spa/salon setting but with serious body modded staff). they are Association of Professional Piercer members; they autoclave/use steam sterilize integrators on all the piercing and placement equipment AND your jewelry, while you are there (which means a little wait if you show up early). the the total cost might be very slightly higher than a some bargain place (but most of this is for high quality, healing appropriate jewelry), but to me it was worth it for the comfort and assurance that i would have a good experience and really skilled placement and piercing. they also have a special if you come in midweek. you can also book appointments online. i can't recommend them highly enough. I think they would be awesome for children for their first piercing (do it right the first time) or if you are new to the "scene" and don't necessarily know what to look for/be aware of. After one of my second lobe piercings randomly closed up and deciding that I was ready to retire my two helixes, I decided to come to Ancient Adornments to get my lobe re-pierced, a conch piercing, my helixes taken out, and some new jewelry put in. It was a LONG laundry list and my piercer Amber was incredibly sweet and up for the challenge. There's a lot of high-quality gold/silver jewelry here and I took my time selecting some new pieces. I wanted to invest in some cute, quality jewelry I could keep on my ears without worrying about potential infections/metal sensitivity. So, I did end up spending ~$600 in one go here (lol). I bought two sets of gold + white gold studs and one specialty gold + white gold stud for my new conch piercing. If you have a budget, I would make that very clear to your piercer! As for the piercings, Amber was professional and super efficient. The re-piercing and new conch barely hurt; she made sure I was fully satisfied with the placement. TLDR; My piercer was Stephanie and she did an amazing job. I want to tell a long story. I've only ever been to one tattoo shop; it's in my hometown and I've been going since I was 18. I'm sure a lot of people reading this have similar stories. Once you find "your" tattoo artist and piercer, you pretty much never go anywhere else. I really travel all the way to my hometown whenever I needed tattoos or piercings. Around maybe 2019, my tattoo shop decided they don't want to do piercings anymore. It was such a shame; they had the most beautiful jewelry. Internally threaded, real gold, real gems. But they've decided to get rid of all of it and only do tattoos. I had an unfinished ear piercing project, but couldn't seem to find a shop in LA that was up to my standards. For instance, I called a few places and simply asked, "I was wondering if your jewelry is internally or externally threaded?" And they didn't even know what I was talking about! I finally came across Ancient Adornments online and noticed all of their wonderful reviews. I thought it was interesting they are the opposite of my shop back home; Ancient Adornments only does piercings. And when I arrived at the shop, I was so excited to see they feature the same type of jewelry I had been searching for all of these years! Stephanie was able to get my existing jewelry out and moved up a notch, so that I could finally wear dangling earrings in the first spot. Then we added three new pieces of jewelry. I want to start by saying I don't believe this is a bad place to go to for piercings -- they are very sanitary and precise and fairly reasonable with pricing. I've gotten both facial piercings here and ear piercings and haven't had a problem with either. However, the customer service is absolutely horrible. I am not the kind of person who is nitpicky about employees being overly friendly or accommodating, all that matters to me is the quality of the service (in this case, piercing) provided. Having coming here multiple times for myself and with friends we've always noticed an off vibe with one of the employees, and this time she was the one who handled my piercings and transaction. Throughout the entire process, she seemed to have a very negative attitude, it felt like she was doing me a favor by being there which is crazy considering I am paying for a service. She made a few minor backhanded comments and created a really uncomfortable atmosphere for me where I felt hesitant to ask questions or make requests that may have complicated the process further. Looking back, I should have not followed through with the piercings and left the appointment however I had been really wanting to get it done. As a piercer, though you're not required to be overly accommodating, I would expect that you make your customers feel comfortable and reassured in the decisions they're making, especially when so many people may feel nervous of the piercing pain or are indecisive! I want to note that I was in no way being difficult about the process, nor was I being unfriendly -- I had made an appointment prior and was on time. I'm just really surprised that the service was this way for no apparent reason. I believe her name is Alexx based on the website and she has blue hair, tattoos, and glasses. I can honestly say that Ancient Adornments on Westwood is one of the three highest quality piercing studios I have been to. I was originally referred by Ashley at Laughing Buddha (also in my top 3), over in Upland, California. I have had multiple frustrating experiences at two other piercing studios (with 3 piercers total) in California, and I had really begun to lose confidence in both my anatomy, and the piercing experience in general. I wasted a lot of precious funds on piercing, re-piercing, and buying jewelry that inevitably had to be removed only a short while later. The thought of trying yet again felt so anxiety-producing, overwhelming, stressful, and potentially expensive, that I was afraid of being disappointed (another time). Finally getting pierced at Ancient Adornments has radically shifted everything back to the wonderful, positive, happy experience it is ultimately supposed to be. My 1 star is for the jewelry, not the piercers or the cleanliness of studio. The piercers were awesome and if you just want to get piercings come to this place, but do not buy their jewelry. For the amount I spent here - $1,200 after totaling it up - I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated that the jewelry has fallen out and broken off within 20-60 days of purchasing. I don't spend this kind of money and looked at it as an investment since jewelry is permanent to me and I loved the jewelry they had. I wish I listened to the reviews that said their jewelry fell out because I deeply regret it now. I have never had jewelry, for significantly less money I might had, fall out of my ears or break, because I was sleeping or touching my ears to make sure the jewelry was still there, which is a nervous habit because their jewelry fell out in the first place. I have never had jewelry fall out period. After getting my second piercing in June, I bought a pair of the dekapon and after 2 months, it fell out of the backing while I was sleeping. I put it back into the backing and returned to the store same day (I don't even live in LA anymore so drove 1.5hrs) because I was scared it would happen again. My piercer said my ears were still healing so we didn't shorten the posts. This was at the end of July. Guess what? It fell out again at the end of August. This time it wasn't in my bed and was officially lost after looking everywhere I was 24 hours before. I was frustrated, but stupidly thought the same earring falling out was on me, so I decided to return again Sept 7 to buy the dekapon earring that fell out. I mentioned that it fell out at the front desk so I wanted to shorten my posts. I also decided on the whim to purchase a 2nd pair of earrings, the celestial, because I thought they were beautiful and would pair well with the dekapon. Guess what? It broke off 20 DAYS LATER on Sept 27 because I pressed it too hard(?) because I now have that nervous habit of quickly touching my ears to make sure my jewelry is still there. It didn't just fall out, it broke off the post so I can't even put it back into the backing. Long story short, you can get pierced here, just don't buy the expensive jewelry because it will just break off your ears. Now I'm left with broken jewelry that I need to figure out how to fix. Would only come back for the piercers if I was in the area, but after this experience, not worth it and will go elsewhere. read more

Went in as a walk in with my 8 year old and 14 month old LOL my daughter really wanted to get her ears pierced for her birthday , so we chose ancient adornments since I had gotten my nose pierced here a few years ago. We were greeted by the receptionist, super sweet girl , told us it would be about a 20-25 minute wait. After about 15 minutes we were able to go inside and choose the jewelry. Filled out consent forms, and about 15 minutes later is was piercing time. Our piercing tech was super nice and gentle with my daughter, gave us clear directions on how the process would be and after care instructions.
