Notable places here are smash burger, Fixins, Hollywood bowl, Starbucks, and Yard House. During winter they have ice skating! We still love LA Live and go there whenever we have an event attached in the area. A few of the restaurants are gone and that is a drag, I don't like empty store fronts, but they still have some great places to eat. There is a lot to do there, see a movie, go bowling, drink, eat and just walk around. During the winter they have a great ice skating rink and the decorations are wonderful. Parking is expensive and a pain. Staples is next door and the Convention Center is at the end of the block. Have fun. read more

This is an outdoor area right across from the Staple Center. Great place to hang out, people watch or go on a date. Tons of restaurants to choose from. Overall a great place to spend some time at. Lots of restaurants to chose from. One of our most favorite is the Wolfgang Puck specially in the winter time when they set up the big Christmas tree and the ice rink .. it's right in for of it. Sitting outside watching people skate is just magical with all the Christmas decor all around. This review is long overdue but decided to finish it today. Kobe and Giannas memorial was also set up here last January and it was the saddest hour we spent there. So tragic and heartbreaking. We miss you Kobe and Gianna. It's been a long time since I've been to LA Live. I was just recently there for a Lakers game and there was a bunch of stuff set up out front to rally some excitement from the passersby. We decided to take some photos, shoot mini basketballs for Lakers swag, and get a signed photo with some Lakers girls. We even went to the Yard House, Fixins, and Lucky Strike. There is a lot to see and do here if you haven't been. But maybe you have like me, and still want to take in the excitement. While parking can be a pain, you can find some nearby lots for a discounted price. I prepaid and saved myself some money. I finally decided to write this review after enjoying the Super Bowl fan events. See a movie, a concert, or a sporting event at Crypto arena all on the same day. There's a reason it's called LA live there's almost always something fun and exciting going on. Once you're there you may not want to leave. And that's OK because they have a JW Marriott Ritz-Carlton right in the complex. Yes. It is a tourist spot. Yes. It can get crazy crowded. And absolutely YES. It is a place worth checking out! Plenty of restaurants to choose from should one desire food (small and big bites alike) and more importantly, happy hour! (Check out their website for participants and menus.) Hubbers and I came through recently to meet with a colleague and take advantage of the Yardhouse's HH specials. Since it was the season, they have laid out the beautiful Christmas tree right in the middle of the ever so popular ice rink. This place is always poppin'. Even without special events, there's something to do - you can check out a museum (Grammy), catch a movie (Regal Cinema) AND go bowling (Lucky Strike) all within walking distance of each other ALL WITHIN ONE DAY. And then some! Underground parking is VERY pricey ($20 for a couple hours' run) but you're paying for convenience. If you don't mind the walk, there are many parking lots surrounding the entire area who charge less. I usually find myself here find a spot to kill time and let both vehicle and foot traffic die down post-game from the Staples. I also find myself here whenever the role of "tour guide" for out-of-towner family and friends come through. TIP: Take time to go through their website for everything LA Live! It'll come in handy! It's been awhile since I've been here but came for a concert this past weekend. Lots of eateries and the concert venues all within close proximity to each other:the Novo, the Microsoft theater, and Staples Center. We didn't eat here because I wasn't sure about the timing, but I have a feel for it now. Yardhouse is here, as well as Conga Room, Wolfgang Pucks and more. No sporting events were scheduled that night. Also, it seems the prices are quite inflated in this area with most entrees hovering above the $20 range. This is definitely a tourist trap area, so there are plenty of normal priced places just outside of the LA Live perimeter if you desire. I enjoy coming here! I've been coming here for many years and I enjoy seeing all the new places that have opened up throughout the years. I really enjoy coming during Christmas time because they have the ice ring and they decorate really lovely. I've been to the staples center, yard house, Starbucks, conga room, and Regal. I know they have a lot more restaurants where you can enjoy a nice meal and I hope to one day be able to try them all. The bad part is traffic here and parking. Parking is expensive unless you are going to the movies and get validation. Although sometimes when the lakers or Kings play all the lots get full and you have to park far away. The place was packed but it was a great vibe because a concert was happening across the way at LA Live so I assume most people were eating there before attending the concert. LA Live is located across the street from the Staples Center. It is a fun, upbeat place to visit before or after an event at Staples, or just for the heck of it. There are many dining and entertainment options, ranging from high end to casual. Food-wise, I have been to Katsuya (very good), Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill (very good), and the Rock'N Fish (good). I have also attended events at the Microsoft Theater (formerly known as Nokia) and The Novo (previously Club Nokia). There are plenty of parking options but it can get expensive. Some places charge $30. That said, some restaurants and venues do validate. It is best to contact them and ask before you go as policies change often. All in all, LA Live is a well-maintained and pleasant entertainment complex. I will definitely stop by the next time I'm in the area! read more

First time here for me and the wife last weekend. Pretty cool place conveniently located across from Staples center with a nice selection of eating / drinking establishments. Place seemed pretty festive but then again, there was an upcoming game AND the weather was absolutely bitchin'... Nicely lit in the evening hours and home to the Nokia Theater as well. I'm not well versed on the parking costs, (as we had a parking pass for the Laker game), but if I had to guess on the cost, I'd guess it wasn't cheap. Solid 4-5 stars, no doubt. LA Live continues to improve and get nicer as the years go on. I love hanging out here before a game at Staples Center. Filled with some great (expensive) restaurants, and a killer ambiance, this is the place to be. If you haven't been, you really outta check this place out. This area in downtown, across from Staples Center, has really changed a lot over the years and continues to become more upscale. What used to be a ghetto area, is now turning trendy and sophisticated. With upwards of 20+ restaurants, there are food options for all. Highlighted by Yard House, Wolfgang Puck, Triple 8, Tom's Urban, Fleming's Steakhouse, Katsuya, gLAnce Lobby Bar, and more, this area hosts some really excellent restaurants, and some great happy hour spots. It also has a very nice bowling alley and lounge, Lucky Strike Lanes. Go ahead and check this place out. I believe you'll be pleasantly impressed with what you find. L.A. Live with the Staple Center across the street is considered the entertainment capital of the U.S. How true is that? I don't know... I only hear sports commentators consistently say that during sporting events. I think it's almost true. Only because it's a newer city walk and it's celebrity caliber during public events taking place in and around the area. L.A. Live is quite pretty during the Holidays. For example, you will see an annual Christmas true erected right in front of the Nokia Center. In addition, they also have a beautiful miniature ice skating ring for people who is in the holiday spirit and wants to do something active outside away from the bitter east coast winter cold. The whole area is so nice with giant LCD televisions built for the public. It is well lit and is a must place for out of town visitors. They have trendy restaurants all around, a bowling alley, a coffee house, a nice hotel, and of course the Nokia Theater too. This is one of a few recent L.A. upgrade attractions. The city has been trying quite hard to make it's local economy more robust. I think it's working since it has become a major attraction. Good luck Los Angeles! read more

We got Lucky Strike, ESPN Zone, multiple Restaurants, Regal Cinemas coming up and more...walking distance, so I don't have to take one of the many Freeways to get out of the house. The place is packed when there is a game at the Staples Center, and cool thing today was that we walked into Mark Sanchez the Quarterback from USC. Came here for dinner at Trader Vic's and was hoping to have a nice wander around afterwards, check out a few things (shops maybe)... but... all that there was were restaurants! I've only been here a few times, but it's a great place to come too to eat, especially for lunch! There is FREE parking from 11am - 2pm, Mon - Fri only when dining at any of the LA Live restaurants. They have great choices to choose from anywhere from casual eateries to fine dining such as Smashburger, the yardhouse, Starbucks, to Katsuya, Flemings and WP24 by Wolfgang Puck. today my friends and i came to watch a screening of shang-chi and had the best experience in terms of movie, seats, and concessions stands. 10/10 experience. However, when it comes to the security guard and check-in experience, my 10/10 experience immediately goes to a 0. Gregory T. (a rather tall white male with a heavy accent) threw away our belongings today. as a young woman who takes night classes, works at night and takes public transportation at night in the city of los angeles- it's imperative that I carry some sort of self defense item with me at all times. los angeles can often times be a dangerous place at night. And because of Gregory T, all three of my friends including myself have to risk not having any self protection until we get our confiscated items replaced. Back to the items that i'm referring to: tasers and pepper spray. now, i completely understand why I cannot bring these items into the movie theater. I did not mind to surrender them to the security guard and retrieve it after my movie. what was unacceptable was the fact that your security guard made us put it behind a trash can on the floor. we asked if he was going to watch it and he agreed, but if a bypasser somehow happened to take it he wouldn't be responsible. we agreed and Gregory T scans us in. As he does this he makes some foul comments under his breath talking about how he knows we're "just some women walking the streets". my friend and I gave him the benefit of the doubt and left for the movie. although the security guard he'd watch our items for us, and we came back to them missing. when i asked about it- the man (gregory t) rudely responds and says that he deliberately threw them away himself since they're not allowed. my question is what movie ticket attendant has any business in confiscating said items? regardless, I tried to ask him for his name but he turns his face away every time i tried to make eye contact and makes it hard for me to ask him for a customer service number, so i left with a bad experience. I don't understand how you would want this employee the front face of your company. i truly believe we were singled out because I did not see the couple's rather large purse (in front of us) get searched. it's a shame that such a nice movie theatre in one of the biggest cities of the country doesn't have a sufficient system for holding prohibited items put in place. this experience has ruined L.A live for my friends and I, and this distasteful experience will NOT bring me back here. read more

LA Live is located across from the Staples Center. The only reason I ever come here is for the Lakers game either to grab a drink/food before or after the game. Many food and bar options! I recently was here during Christmas and the Christmas decos are super cute! It is always crazy packed with either Lakers fans or just people in general. Besides eating and drinks and walking through for a game, there is not much to do. There's the Staples Center, Nokia Theater, LA Convention not super far, and they did have the ESPN Zone which was a nice added touch but that's gone. It is always super bright and attracts crowds from everywhere. However, if I it wasn't for the Lakers, or a show at the Theater, or a work thing at the Convention Center, I probably would never come back. There are no shops and not much in terms of the entertainment factor. However, I still enjoy it when I'm in the area and I am a HUGE Lakers fan, so I'll always be making appearances every now and then ;) read more

There are many reasons to spend your time at this jumbotron province. Go forth and create your own memories, but Reader, if your only purpose in visiting this Time Square-wannabe is to see a movie at the Regal, take this one piece of advice with you in hopes that part of your pure soul doesn't die like mine did: THEATER PARKING IS ONLY VALIDATED AT LOT 4 OR THE WEST PARKING LOT. Signage for this rule is an utter joke, no doubt done on purpose. Should you happen to make the grave mistake of parking in the main East garage like me, do not waste your time 1) walking back to the theater to fight the man because the employees will simply shrug or 2) bouncing from restaurant to restaurant in hopes one of them will validate, as one waiter was finally straight with me and said only the more upscale establishments validate for lunch and dinner reservations. This additional walking only made my ticket more expensive, and by the time I accepted my defeat, I was out $35 for parking to see a movie. read more

After Anschutz Entertainment Group builds Staples Center, everything changes here. Soon after Nokia Plaza, Grammy Museum, ESPN Studio, and even fancy 5 stars hotel Ritz Carlton was also been build. Transportation is easy; there is metro rail and many bus stops near 2 freeways. Parking is not great. Unless you come here in Sunday, so you can park in the street free. Traffic is quite bad during rush hours. Eating is quite pricey here; there is not local shop in the plaza, mostly franchise. Overall, if you want music and sport entertainment up to date, this would be the place. NFL stadium probably would get build soon, which mean more TRAFFIC! This place reminds me bit like Universal City Walk, except there is a lot more event going on. I will not really come here unless there is event in nearby. I rather drive a bit far to eat like K-Town would you get much better value. read more

A MUST DO! There are lots of restaurants down here in DTLA to satisfy most people's taste buds. There is always something going on here at LA LIVE. They have various concerts @ The Microsoft Theater. There's the Conga Room Nightclub. It is also a stone's throw away from surrounding Movie Theaters, The Staples Center (Concerts & Sports Events) & The Convention Center. Christmas down here was A MOB SCENE. There was a line around the block. Apparently EVERYONE & Their Grandmother watched The NBC Live from Rockefeller Center TV Special. They all decided to skip the $800 Airfare & 5 & 1/2 hour flight to New York & head down to Holiday Ice in DTLA & Pay $20 to park & get a similar Kind of experience. OK Maybe it's not quite as Great as Rockefeller Center in New York but It's Still Good! It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. ***Though chain heavy, LA Live features enough things to do (including a good movie theater) to make it an okay meeting/gathering place; greater value for those who live within walking distance and do not have to pay the high parking prices*** LA Live is the relatively new entertainment, dining and hotel complex next to the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. I think they have completed all of the development, which has resulted in a large Regal Theater, a Ritz Carlton, a JW Marriott, a Lucky Strike, the Nokia Theater, Club Nokia, maybe a club or two, many chain restaurants, and one expensive parking garage. LA Live makes for a good gathering place because there is an abundance of restaurant/bar options here and almost all of them are big enough to support large groups (given the many offices nearby, they probably feature some good happy hours too). The food though is stuff you can find easily elsewhere. Some of the restaurants here include Fleming's, Wolfgang Puck, Trader Vic's, The Farm, The Yardhouse, and a Lawry's Carvery. Entertainment options are pretty good though maybe pricey. I haven't been to the Lucky Strike here, but I liked the other entertainment options. Nokia Theater is nice and seems to book some good performers (I'm not a music expert though; music experts tell me the sound quality in that theater is not that great). Club Nokia has shows too, but the seating is more limited (they also have standing room tickets near the bar, which was not too uncomfortable for the short show I attended). The movie theater here is pretty good for a Regal. While the theater is expensive, the Premiere Theater is impressive. The picture is huge and both the picture quality and sound quality are good. The stadium seating is comfortable; the good thing about the seating is that you do not have to worry about someone tall sitting in front of you and blocking the picture like some of the other big screen theaters in Los Angeles (like Grauman's Chinese Theater). Outside of the IMAX theaters, the Regal Premiere Theater is one of the better spots to watch an event movie. Most of the entertainment and dining options here are going to cost a little bit of money (with the exception of Lawry's Carvery, which is LA Live's sole order-at-the-counter spot). The money you have to pay for entertainment and dining is further compounded by the high price of the attached parking structure. Regal does validate parking, but it is still $5 for 4 hours with movie validation. Unfortunately, because LA Live is next to Staples Center, most of the paid lots around LA Live are not much cheaper than LA Live parking (especially during events). Even with the high parking prices, LA Live is a welcomed addition to Downtown LA and provides a convenient gathering place for people heading Downtown or meeting people Downtown. Still, for the money you are paying here, there is better as well as more unique (and harder to find food) if you head deeper into Downtown LA. For Downtown residents, it has one big advantage though. The matinee prices at Regal are not that bad and the theater is pretty empty on weekend afternoons. Therefore, if you can walk to this Regal, this is a pretty good and not too expensive spot to catch a movie. read more
