They offer two different bleaching / lightening services - a jelly mask or high frequency LED treatment. I've been having my underarms waxed for over 10 years and they're still fairly dark - not that anyone ever really sees them - lol - but I thought the fact that they have that as an option is pretty cool. I notice that they provide waxing services for dudes too. (Some salons say they do - but then they struggle to find an aesthetician that feels comfortable waxing a man.) The sign out front mentioned a 'Manzilian' - and for some reason that cracked me up. It's not like the 'Bra' in Brazilian references bras / brassieres. Seems like it should be called a 'Brozilian' - lol - just kidding. If I had to list cons - I would have to say - They are operating by appointment only during the pandemic even though the vmail and website do not reflect this. It almost been a week and I am still tender, lots of hair was missed and my skin is just agitated in general. I've never had issues being sensitive to waxing before, and the girl who did it sold me a cream that she applied to me afterwards and said "this is good for people with sensitive skin." I paid $80 and could've gotten a full body anywhere else. I expected to be smooth like a furless cat, and I can't even exfoliate because my skin is so tender. This was only my first second time getting any kind of wax service, so you can take my perspective pretty much as a newbie's. My technician was Imani, and she put me so much at ease. We chatted during my entire appointment, and she was both professional and detailed while still being warm and friendly. I highly recommend her. The waiting room has massage chairs for patrons to sit on, and the technicians table during my appointment was also an electric massage table, so My body was getting that extra feedback the entire time. Both the fellow who checked me in and the woman who checked me out were professional and friendly. The wait to get to my appointment was maybe a minute. The whole thing was perfectly quick. IMPORTANT: First time clients need to pay a deposit before their appointment to hold their spot or else their appointment will be canceled. The office calls people the day before to get a card payment or cash app transfer to make the deposit, but I missed that call. I didn't remember seeing this policy on the website, so I was surprised when I got an email about my appointment being canceled, but I gave the office a call, someone was able to pick up right away, and we got it taken care of and my appointment time was still able to happen. The shop is on a small corner lot, so parking maybe tricky, but I didn't have a problem. I will say, when I had previously passed the shop, I thought that its name was Brazilian wax, because those are the largest words on their signage, so that might be a little confusing when you arrive for the first time. The shop also has some different deals available, and the pricing seemed good to me. I would highly recommend In the City Wax for waxing! I'm curious now about what their facials and other treatments are like, too.
