The shower is leaking and the lawn needs watering, so I jumped into the car to get what I need. Although this is an Ace store, coupons are site specific and are not shared among the hardware stores. The prices for most items are competitive with big box stores-- items like PVC pipe, wood filler, and hardware are cheaper at Altadena Hardware in a side-by-side comparison to big box stores. If you purchase materials like wood or pipe, they can cut it for you for transport! The selection of paint, hardware, garden supplies, light bulbs, power tools, adhesives, and most other typical household hardware needs are excellent. Based on size, they don't stock as much lumber or appliances as big box stores. Very helpful -- they do cartridge exchange for Soda Stream!! And have many options of Soda Stream flavorings. They also sell local honey up at the cash register! Altadena Hardware is my first choice for hardware needs!

I told them what I was looking for and Andrew escorted me to where the appliance extension cord is, also helping me decide what size to get. He was so kind and was really needed bc 30 min earlier I left another HD in tears due to an aggressive parking lot incident. Speaking of parking lots -- a dream compared to my local HD! Plenty of parking, clear paths of travel, no vendor cars clogging curbs and sight lines. What a relief, esp when you're just going to get a cord! Their Gardening section was also much easier to shop. Well merchandised and lots of signage that explained how to do things or what to buy to achieve the result (loved learning more about fencing and panel options). This same support was also noticed in Lighting and appreciated the demo area of various light dimmer switches! This will be my new HD and love how it's near Aldi and many other shopping complexes for daily life. Convenient!

I am as handy as you need to be to be a homeowner to NOT shell out lots of money on home repairs(I rather spend money on dining out :) . I have learned how to paint, patch ant openings, fixed my toilet, redone grouts, and even trimmed the trees by hanging out here. Remember you can make keys (home, AUTO ,...) here also. Key making machines are available (see pic) and it's very affordable at HD. Many sale items of good value on their end caps on a weekly basis.

Whether the employees were younger years ago or are older now, the attitude has remained the same--rude, impatient, and they often make you feel like they assume you're there to steal. Instead of treating customers with respect, they make shopping feel uncomfortable. The only reason I still stop by is because they carry a few specialty tools that Home Depot doesn't. Unfortunately, those tools are usually overpriced, so it's hard to justify putting up with the poor treatment. After nearly three decades of occasional visits, it's disappointing to say that nothing has improved. At this point, I honestly doubt it ever will.
