L'Orangerie a french restaurant bistro opened recently in Coronado. Taking the corner space of the Coronado Historical Association building with towering columns. The noir et blanc striped outdoor umbrellas are eye catching. Turns out, owner and chef Philippe is a Francophile from France, happened to be standing at the entry, cordially welcomed Me inside. I chose outdoor seating with my furbaby Fendi. Most places with outdoor seating are pup friendly but I prefer the outdoor area to be spotless and clean as this place was. The service staff and my waiter Matt were nice attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which was mostly French cuisine, which is always my favorite. Although, there are at least three other french restaurants in the area, I wanted to support this new restaurant and try the owner chef's take on french dishes. I'm guilty, I usually prefer pescatarian and chose the seared salmon. Presented nicely with fresh local organic ingredients, I was impressed with how exquisite the flavors enhanced the salmon's subtlety. The menu evolves seasonally and I look forward to returning to try other dishes. The french baguette slices ordered with the ordered homemade french butter is a must. Pomme frittes ie french fries with the ordered homemade Mayo for dipping was irresistible. From the wine menu, the Maceratoin, an orange wine from Alsace region in France was surprisingly perfect for a restaurant called L'Orangerie, meaning the orange grove. There are no orange groves in the area, but the restaurant is located on Orange Avenue which is restaurant row in the Coronado area. Locals and tourists walk through this avenue and makes for amusing entertainment while wining and dining on fantastique french cuisine at L'Orangerie. A very nice first impression, Recommend!

Beautiful new restaurant in Coronado! French owners who live nearby and are so friendly! Escargots was good but in a tomato bisque not garlic/parsley/butter method. Creamy chicken dish was scrumptious! A perfect sunny day to lunch on the patio! Also a perfect cafe au lait!!

One of the finest meals I've had in Coronado!!! The Chefs Veal Tenderloin w/ Mushroom Cream Sauce and the house made Pate' were so delicious!!! And they're dog friendly :) I hope this little gem has a long tenure on the island!!! 5 stars for Service, Food and Ambiance!!!

Wonderful patio! Great service! Delicious French Onion Soup for a starter then had the Steak Frites with salad for dinner. We had a bottle of Cab Franc as well and it was delicious and reasonably priced. We finished up with a chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. The chef is also the owner and came out to check on us which was also a nice surprise! This is a very nice addition to the Coronado restaurant scene and we highly recommend it!

The chocolate croissant and coffee were world-class!

Amazing setting, beautiful French food and owners. I must visit on your next time n Coronado. We LOVED it!

Deviled eggs & caprese salad with chicken

My mom and I stumbled upon this place while shopping in Coronado for her birthday. We were greeted & taken care of by Jonathan, the director of operations, who was beyond wonderful! He was pleasant, competent, and spoiled us with some complimentary champagne. =P We ordered the deviled eggs & the caprese salad. The deviled eggs were to die for!! I have been craving them ever since! The caprese salad was delicious as well and the serving size of added chicken was generous. We were even lucky enough to speak with the owner/head chef- he is a warm Frenchmen. You can tell by tasting the food that it is an AUTHENTIC French restaurant & his passion for cooking comes through his dishes. The ambiance is very cute. We will be back. :)

We have dined here twice in the last few weeks. Once for lunch, once for dinner. Let me just say, the food was fantastic both times. But the owners really are so incredibly kind and hospitable and that just puts the experience over the top! The quiche is FANTASTIC. French onion soup also so delightful (more on the savory side, perfect balance of subtle sweetness). I could drink whatever dressing they put on their side salads. French fries fried in beef tallow? AMAZING. Definitely recommend the steak frites!

This restaurant just opened its doors in Coronado this summer, we had lunch there yesterday and it was WONDERFUL!!!! The service was very welcoming and friendly, we sat inside and it feels truly like a French Bistro. We tried the La Niçoise salad , the salmon toast, and seared salmon, and everything was delicious!! My husband had a really good French rosè and I had their white sangria , yum!!! To finish off our meal we had the crêpes with Nutella and the chocolate mousse and coffee. We'll be back for sure!! Can't wait to try more items from their menu. Welcome to Coronado!!

    Ask the Community - L’orangerie

Do they have any vegan and vegetarian options?

Hello, Yes, I remember seeing a fresh vegetable platter on the appetizer menu and a Risotto. I am sure the chef can prepare something for you also.

Is there a happy hour menu?

The have a happy hour with a few discounted items from their regular menu. They are new so don't expect much variety but everything there is good.

In my opinion, the true measure of a business is how it handles things when something goes wrong, and this restaurant handled the situation exactly the way a quality establishment should. Here's what happened: I stopped in briefly to use the restroom and grab one of the spritzers they make here. First off, the spritzer is absolutely delicious -- light, refreshing, and something I highly recommend if you visit. Unfortunately, my interaction with the host was less than stellar. I asked about ordering the spritzer and was told two things: 1. He didn't think they made it. 2. He "didn't have time." That response honestly caught me off guard. A paying customer walks in asking to purchase a product your restaurant does in fact make, and the answer is that you don't have time? Serving guests is literally the core function of hospitality. Thankfully, one of the waitresses, Rachel, who had helped me during a previous visit completely turned the experience around. I asked her for the drink and without hesitation she smiled and said, "Right away!" Within moments she returned with the spritzer in hand. Professional, courteous, and exactly the kind of service that keeps people coming back. I explained the interaction to her and she looked genuinely puzzled. I later mentioned it to the manager, whom I've met before and always found to be approachable, professional, and kind. He was clearly appalled by what happened and handled the situation with sincerity and care. That's exactly why this place continues to earn high marks from me. Problems can happen anywhere. What matters is whether management and experienced staff know how to recover -- and they absolutely did. The seasoned staff and management here understand hospitality. Based on this interaction alone, I honestly think the host may simply be better suited for a non-customer-facing role.

For dinner we enjoyed a French baguette with the Escargot - the best I've ever had, the Cavaiar Éclair (do not miss this!) duck à l'orange (drool), and short rib bourguignon. We added wine pairing with each course and shared. Highly recommend that! And finished off with the chocolate mousse! Now I'm hungry!!

Oysters were on point and quick, raw scallop makes for a great pic, and crab toast is worth ordering multiples! I skipped the carbs by substituting lettuce for toast. And definitely squeeze the lemon all over your seafood, makes a huge difference. Parking is always "fun" in this area, but if you find one, stick around after and walk around the area.
