Should be four stars but.... They refused and I mean refused to serve me tap water. My only choice was no water or pay for bottled water. This is a total non starter. So I did what any human does when a system is stupid... go around it. I asked for a glass of ice and wowee... water. Sell the server was. I've and helpful. He was not part of the water debacle. The food was truly great and no issues at all. At the end of the meal Arlo brought cold lemoncello and gave us each a small shot as a thank you. Nice amenity. Over all a very good time. We got the brussel sprouts, veal with a side of broccolini & the bucatini amatriciana with a couple meatballs. Ordered a vodka dirty martini with regular olives and it was very cold and yummy. The server we got was very attentive and explained a couple items on the menu we had questions about and stopped by a couple times to make sure we had everything we needed. My friend and I came here after her sister highly recommended the lasagna. Despite that; we didn't order it but rather a pappardelle bolognese and gnocchi with the strawberry salad. Absolutely incredible, homemade from scratch Italian food. The ambiance was set as "cozy" on Google reviews but I'd consider it like a lowkey, mom & pop shop with hipster vibes. Ha! Service was incredible by a very kind gentleman whose name I definitely couldn't pronounce properly or spell but he was Italian with a pony! They're so attentive and FAST. Waiter gave extensive warning about cacio e pepe potentially being too salty because "it's similar to how the dish is in Rome" (...no idea what he was talking about based on my visits to Rome). Both orders were on the pepper side of the spectrum; neither of us thought it was at all salty. Lasagna was rich (as expected). Salads were fresh. Brussels sprouts delicious. Cocktails a bit weak. Ambiance was fine; it was nice to sit outside with the option of heat lamps. They do nickel & dime you quite a bit, thus the loss of a star. "Oh you want prosciutto with the burrata? Sure!" "Let's get you some bread." Well, a few slices of prosciutto are $6 - currently listed on their website's menu as $5. A small sliced baguette (=two bites each for 5 people) is also $6, and it's not even listed on the menu that they charge for bread. Cappuccino? $6. Espresso? $5. Quite the markup... If they want to be more like Europe, sure, make everyone buy mineral water, but include the bread with the meal, have reasonable prices for the mediocre espresso, etc. Also, we were nearly late for our plans due to slow service when it got a bit busy. This is an interesting restaurant shoehorned between the parking lot and the other businesses. You will certainly be seated close to yet-to-be-made friends. Kudos to them for seating us - even though our online reservations became lost. As you can see from my pic of their table service for pepper flakes and salt, there is a bit of "airs" about them. You'll also see this in the dishes from my food pics. The service was okay on this busy holiday. We started with the Strawberry Salad. This was a great mix of flavors and textures, without the salad being overly bearing of strawberries. As you can see in my pic, we had the strawberry dressing on the side. By mixing, this semi-sweet dressing with astringent arugula lettuce, we blended a great compliment of flavors. The goat cheese was a super creamy compliment with the toasted almonds. And when this was eaten with the dressing and lettuce, this became a very good and unique salad. Our salad was followed by the Bosciaola Rigatoni, see my pic. Again, this was another very good dish. The rigatoni was cooked just right, and served with ample red cream sauce. The spices were bright and the sausage was savory and rich. There was the right amount of sausage to pasta, and sauce, such that each bite had ample flavor. The food was quite good, but the seating is very tight. The wine by-the-glass pricing was reasonable. They don't accept any payment methods that require a PIN, and they didn't voluntarily provide us a bill or receipt for our meal. read more

I would have given this place a 2-star but the experience just left me with the biggest ick. I chose this restaurant because it was dog-friendly and near the dog beach, it had a beautiful outdoor patio seating area, and the food looked amazing! What I was not expecting was "nice" passive aggressiveness from our waiter throughout the whole dining experience and how he/the restaurant was not honest. Read further for more info. Waiter took our drink orders and we asked for just water. Towards the end of our meal, he came back to ask if we wanted more water which we thought was nice. Turns out the water cost $7 and no where was it disclosed. We ordered 5 dishes for our party. For appetizer, we ordered tuna tartar, but were notified they ran out. Instead, the waiter tried to upsell us on plain house bread (which most places serve on the house anyways) but we didn't want that because we were going to be inhaling enough carbs. We ended up ordering a pizza to share and four pasta dishes: (2) Pappardelle Bolognese, Bucatini Amtriciana, Boscaiola Rigatoni. Waiter suggested adding a meatball add on in the Bucatini Amtriciana, which I ultimately said yes. It arrived with two meatballs and when the check was delivered at the end of the meal, he had inputted and charged for two ($5/meatball) which was not the quantity that was ordered! The food was not great either - pizza was a large flatbread and the crust was hard and stale (though the toppings were good with a kick). The pappardelle was overcooked and too soft. The biggest peeve was feeling deceived and how the waiter took advantage of our busy group. read more

Me and my girls were in Coronado for a mommy and me trip while I was here for a conference. We like fancy Italian food served with IG worthy aesthetics and Yelp reviews pointed to Nado. The servers, hostess, food runners are all friendly and knowledgeable and making a rezzy thru OpenTable is much appreciated so we had no wait to be seated. The dishes posted here are all drool worthy esp the pink cream rigatoni and brussels. The meatball was kind of flavorless which was surprising. The pizza has a thin crispy crackerlike crust which I loved. Pros: the covered patio and inside bar area are BEAUTIFUL and photo worthy. Staff is friendly. Pasta and Brussels are so good! Cons: you MUST pay for water as they do not serve tap water. So you need to buy bottled water which is not served cold nor with ice so you need up ask for ice. (?!) And if you order bread (which is not free) and you want a topping other than oil and vinegar, you need to buy butter! It is because of these 2 upcharges that they only get a 4 star from us. read more

Someone came by and offered us water and they brought out the water within 2-3 minutes. About 5 minutes later our waiter came by. He was very friendly and gave us the specials. Okay, now it's 6:30 and waiter hasn't come back to get our order or to ask if I wanted to get a glass of sample he brought me 15 minutes ago. We had tickets to a concert across the street at 7. We were panicking because we needed to eat before concert. Finally at 6:35 he came by and took our order for the lasagna. He apologized for keeping us waiting, and brought us a complimentary drink. Lasagna came out at 6:45, we basically inhaled it and paid and left and did make it to concert at 7:05. The lasagna is very good. I don't mind slow service when the place is packed and servers are running around trying to get everyone's orders, but this was not the case. We sat outside, maybe that was the issue? I do like to give my business to small businesses, as I believe this restaurant is. It would be good for owner(s) to stop by tables and ask how things are going.
