Allegedly a chorizo taco that took 40 minutes and barely had chorizo

All of the above need improvement. Portions are pathetic and take forever. Drinks take forever. Everyone ignores you. Decorations are ok, but not worth it. Salsa is extremely watery and no flavor. Cheese is also extremely watered down.

I have been wanting to try this place ever since I first saw them working on the building. It used to be a full service Pizza Hut but they did one heck of a job with the renovations! It's absolutely gorgeous inside! I haven't had everything on their menu yet but everything I saw coming out looked delicious! I ordered the authentic tacos plate so there were three. I got the Barbacoa tacos and boy were they good! The waiter informed me that they only had goat Barbacoa and asked if that was OK. I said "sure!" Anyway, they were very large tacos and absolutely delicious! They put lots of meat in them and the Barbacoa was very flavorful! This is an upscale authentic Mexican restaurant with fabulous food, great service and gorgeous dining area! Cheers!

Yummmm everything was very tasty and well seasoned. The drinks were good as well once you got pass all the ice. The quesobirria didn't have a lot of queso so we asked for a little more and later found out they charged us $7 for it. Most of the meals are al a cart so order the specials if you want rice and beans with your meals. $115 and no sides for 2 people. I would say upscale prices

This was my 1st time here. Everything was great the host were very friendly which set the mood for the meal. The ambiance felt relaxing to me and I love it. The food was top notch everything from start to finish to the appetizers to drinks was outstanding. Our sever Axel was wonderful they answered any questions we had and was always greeted us with a smiling face which made me feel comfortable. We will be back again soon.

This is a nice restaurant with plenty of shared parking in the parking lot. It's decorated really nicely very dark with day of the dead type of decor with a little bit of light with butterflies on the walls. The staff are friendly. They use OpenTable to make reservations for food and drinks are pretty good. I highly recommend and I hope that you enjoy your experience as much as I enjoy mine.

Absolutely loved this place, the atmosphere, the service and the food outstanding. You definitely should make reservations. Busy in the weekends we sat on patio it was a nice evening. We had street corn and empanadas to start. Enchiladas and Churros for dessert I highly recommend it was tasty and prices were acceptable. Good for date night

I did not enjoy my food. The service and ambiance were really good, I had a nice time with a few friends catching up over brunch at Frida's. Disappointed with the how weak the drinks were and how salty and unauthentic the food tasted. I feel like most people come here because of the social media hype and presentation of drinks and decor. It's a no for me.

wow!! I had heard good things, but this place was awesome. The decor was awesome, dark lit and cool wall decor / lights. Very aesthetically pleasing. We got the chips and queso, carne asada, and Birria tacos and were impressed with all three. We also got street corn - it was not my favorite just as it was a little spicy!! Ashley, our server was awesome. Very attentive to our needs and so sweet! Parking was a breeze, and plenty of space. I would def recommend this place to anyone trying to venture out and find a New Mexican spot!

Pescado Frito and salad with chipotle dressing 5/5
    Cierra G.

Cool decor inside with a fully covered patio and outside seating. The service was top notch and our waiter was helpful and made suggestions and was able to answer our questions regarding menu items and drinks. We had the pescado frito and carne asada. Pescado frito was a large snapper. It was very well fries, a little dry but overall good 4/5. The carne asada was tender and well seasoned 5/5. Their margaritas are house made fresh juices so def better than your typical bar drink. We had mango margarita 5/5 and the dragonfruit 4/5. The drinks are again made with fresh fruit/juice so it will be less sweet compared to the nasty artificial purées and mixes. Looking forward to trying again. Def recommend!!

I LOVED this place! The food is good but what makes it stand out is all of the Instagram-worthy touches in both the atmosphere and food! - you MUST get the bubble bath cocktail and the chocolate skull - they give you a mallet to crack the skull and the chocolate is sooooo delicious- really good quality! More than enough for our table of 5. Definitely a fun place for a special occasion because you will take great pics but reasonably priced enough that you don't have to wait for a special occasion!

Carne Asada fries and a watermelon mint soda ( mojito minus the liquor) yum!!!

The food and drinks are consistently delicious here. The ambiance is IG ready and the staff is attentive, knowledgeable and fun ( even at lunch!)

Look at the harassment from the owner after posting my candid review

I strongly advise African American customers to avoid this location. My family and I experienced blatant discrimination during our visit. Read the review poor review on Google and Yelp First, our food came out cold with raw meat on the nachos...a serious health risk. When I politely informed the manager, he argued with me instead of correcting the problem. After I canceled our order, the situation escalated dangerously. The MANAGER followed me and my two young children out to our car, accompanied by two employees, and began berating me in front of my kids. He has no professional experience as manager acts very hostile and aggressive. BEWARE!!! He will try to be combative. It is unacceptable to be harassed for complaining about unsafe food. I also noticed discrepancies in how we were treated regarding portions (a spoonful of guacamole) and charges compared to other customers. Do not support a business that treats paying customers this way. I am filing a complaint with Attorney General's Office, BBB, and NAACP. Read the response for the management which takes no accountability of poor food hygiene and lack of professionalism. Most important, see photo where is continued sending harassing message to "Get a life and find something to do". They never offered to replace the food. The OWNER/MANAGER told us we were fired for complaining. These people lack the hospitality to run a business and if you complain they will intimidate you or call the police. Beware!!! Spend your money at Margaritas or better rated establishments.

If you have the right expectations Frida's can be pretty good. The restaurant of course is super cute and has great decor and overall presentation. Service is good and their cocktails are beautiful as well as tasty. I think the burrito was kinda bland and boring but the enchiladas were pretty good. The food is average but this is still a nice place overall.

    All three great!

I opted for a California burrito with asada, this hit the spot. Not only was the burrito well wrapped but it was very savory and filled to where it left me full. The place is a counter service restaurant with a bar as well so you can go and order your food first then order your beer/cocktails of choice. They also have a salsa bar but chips are extra. The restaurant is slightly noisy and can probably fill fast during peak hours. Overall I would come back, definitely highlight to my Charlotte trip!

The food was extremely mediocre in taste and portions. I ordered the two-taco combo plate that comes with two sides. I chose Mexican Rice & Refried Beans as my side and the tacos I chose were Birria. Let's start there. There is no option to order anything other but the same two tacos so for example, I wanted to order one chicken and one birria or one shrimp taco and one birria taco, that option was not available. Most places allow you to customize your taco orders. I arrived to pick up my food and noticed the bag was NOTICEABLY light...which is a stark contrast to when I order this same kind of meal from my regular go to taco spots. I get home and start taking the food out of the bag and the taco presentation was good. They looked good and had pretty much what you would expect to be on them. I then go to open the containers that had my sides and noticed that the containers barely had any sides in them. I'm talking about the containers were less than half full of the rice and beans...to where it looks like they only put a couple of spoonfuls in each container. Which explains why the bag was so light. The rice looked like the typical Mexican rice and smelled about the same. It tasted very average, nothing special. The refried beans however, had no texture to them and looked like someone just put all the beans into a blender and turned them into a thick paste of some sort. They were completely flavorless and also didn't have the layer of cheese on top on them that most authentic places put on there. The three tacos were also very flavorless. The meats had absolutely NO flavor to them which is crazy for a birria taco. They were full enough with meat, salsa, onions, etc. but the meat had very little seasoning. I also found two VERY hard and sharp pieces of BONE in one of my birria tacos. I have braces and thought one of my back brackets had come loose. Imagine my surprise when I spit everything out and saw a decent chuck of bone shard. I set i aside and took another bit of ended up with yet another piece, albeit smaller, of shard in my mouth. As someone who moved here from Los Angeles and prior to that lived in Texas, this place just doesn't cut it for tacos. Not even for a chain restaurant quality of tacos. It's just like so many of these trendy restaurants popping up all over Charlotte with mediocre food trying to make a quick buck before it's eventually shut down for whatever reason . I'll be sticking to my two go to places which are very authentic taco spots where I have NEVER been disappointed. They are little pricier, but quantity and quality are worth it at this point. I have attached pics and you can see the pathetic amount of rice and beans that they gave me in that entire container, smh. You can see it from the top view and the side view where you can see the shadow lines of how full the containers were. For comparison, the container was about the size of a medium Mac N Cheese from Chick-fil-A. Rice and beans are literally the CHEAPEST items to acquire and add to meals so being stingy with them is a really bad look.

We were seated pretty quickly on the patio. It was a nice breezy evening perfect for alfresco dining. Initially our service was fast. Our server came over. Took care of our water brought our additional drink orders and then took our order for food, but then it took a while. Eventually we did get it and I was surprised how well I liked the refried black beans and their rice I opted for their Birria tacos and they were very flavorful and the consommé was delicious. My husband opted for the fish tacos and well he had to fish for the fish in the fish tacos. It was very little and that was very disappointing. I asked him if he would return and he said he would, but he would either not get the fish tacos because they don't have near enough fish to be called a fish taco or he would ask that they put an adequate amount of fish in the taco. It was more slaw and cilantro than fish. But he did agree that the refried black beans were extremely delicious and the rice was very flavorful as well. We both like their chips, which are served with their house salsa. I was not a fan of the salsa. I like mine with a little bit more sweet nod, but my husband did enjoy the salsa. Overall, it was a good first time experience and I usually give a restaurant 2 to 3 tries before I figure if they're just not for me so we'll definitely come back again

I originally was going to place the order online, but they're online option said it was unavailable so I went inside and sat down at the bar. The service was OK though it seemed most people did not speak English, which is fine. It just made it kind of harder to communicate. That said the food was decent but the reason why I gave two stars was because I feel very misled on pricing. The menu showed Que Siberia tacos three for $12. Steak/Asada tacos for three dollars which brings my total to 15+ the two drinks. I thought she said it was $20.80 so I paid it with my card and gave her five dollars cash for a tip. I get to the car just to double check the transaction and she charged me 3499 on my card and took the cash. I went back inside to confront her about this advising. Tacos El Nevado came highly recommended, so I headed over for lunch with high hopes. The restaurant was packed when I arrived around 1:30 p.m., which is usually a good sign. It appears to be a converted fast-food building with its own parking lot, outdoor patio, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.
