I went in a couple of days ago and bought a Cinnamon bun pull apart which I needed like a hippo tied to my leg. I went in for a loaf of bread, the Artisan whole wheat loaf, which I did not need either(more of a want). Horrible baked goods, it's a crime they front as a French bakery. The savory overpriced ham and cheese croissant was hard as a rock, had to microwave to make it edible. thin thin slice of tasteless ham and a few sprinkles of cheese. This is NOT a French croissant, it's not layered, looks like a stale store bought pastry. Seriously, Safeway's bakery next door is 10 times better! I also bought a dozen assorted cookies. Every single one of these bit sized cookies that they charged me $7 bucks for were stale and tasteless. The chocolate is waxy. I bought the cherry streudel for $6, very little filling and a pastry that was not light and layered, terribly heavy, tough, disgusting. Would not recommend that you spend your money here! read more

Okay, this rating is just below 4 stars, but not quite there yet. So I have been here twice in the last week. First time, I was going to Safeway to pick up a dessert for dinner with some friends, but I saw their open light still on so I went in. I picked up an eclair, a fruit tart, and a raspberry almond tart. For those it cost me about $10. Yes, a little pricey. But my friends and I shared them all and they were pretty good. Nothing that was knocking my socks off, but good solid pastries. The second time was after breakfast next door. We wandered over to see what they had. I was there with a chocolate addict and once he saw the chocolate temptation (I think that was the name) cake, I knew I was in trouble. So we ordered a slice to go for later. $3.50 for the slice. I say this is a good price for this particular item because it was so rich that two of us barely finished it. But it was utterly decadent. There were layers of chocolate cake and ganache as well as chocolate frosting. Overall they seemed to have a good selection of breads, pastries, cookies, pies, and cakes. I was helped very efficiently every time and enjoyed the treats I got. So, hopefully, others will have the same experience. And since its close to home, I will probably be back. read more

La Baguette Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

I have been a faithful customer for years but recently spent a week in Cannes, France. The chocolate and also their almond croissants that are at La Baguette were as good as any I had in France. The only thing missing was in France they had chocolate muffins with a chocolate center that was gooey when heated. All in all it is a very good simple French bakery with a good product. However, I have not sampled anything else other than the dessert croissants. I cannot speak to any of their other products. read more

After a nice lunch next door at Ghini's, we wandered to La Baguette for dessert. It's a small bakery filled with baguettes, eclairs, fruit tarts, cakes, and lots of cookies and pastries. The eclair was very good. The baguettes are fresh and my favorite is sourdough. I just wish there is a cheese store next door. read more

My sister and I visited La Baguette on my birthday as I had requested a strawberry rhubarb pie instead of cake and we both thought this bakery would have a great one, if they had any. They did have one! My sister purchased it and then served it that night at a family gathering. Not one person could finish their serving of what turned out to be the worst strawberry rhubarb pie any of had ever had. To add to the tragedy my sister had paid $18 for the travesty. The crust was heavy and tasteless. The filling resembled nothing we had ever experienced in either appearance or flavor. I returned to the bakery about a week later to complain and was told that they were sorry, and that they had told the baker his pie crusts were horrible. read more

They have the best cake I've ever eaten in my life. It's called the princess cake, and theirs is incredible. Not too sweet, a perfect genoise, and just beautiful. The best bakery in Tucson. Fantastic breads, great pastries. Friendly people behind the counter. The multigrain and eurograin breads are my favorite, while the French box is great for butter-and-jam. I realized I haven't really reviewed bakeries so I'm going to do a few and this is the first. I find this place is consistently good to excellent. The filled croissants are standard but all his other pastries are superior including the coffee cakes and fancy cakes. What is superior are breads. I particularly like the artisanal French bread both... the white and the multigrain which I will often finish on the way home sans butter or olive oil. I also highly recommend the Volksbrot, a dense bread which makes superior toast. Finally as it is almost Christmas season treat yourself to a Bouche Noel. read more

I'm afraid the place ain't what it used to be. Tried to order a cake here Xmas 2010 and was told they couldn't do cakes, since their pastry chef left. So decided to try again for a party in 11/11, hoping they had their act together and I could support what was once a cool little local business. Me: "What kinds of cakes do you make?" They, not busy, as I was the only customer in the store: "Look in the case." Me: "Well, they're not labeled. Do you have a list of kinds of cake you make so I can order one?" They: "No, not really. Well, let's see, there are some in the book here, but I don't know if we make them all...." Me: "OK, I'd like a white or yellow or chocolate cake decorated with off-white frosting flowers" They: "All we make is chocolate ganache or cream cheese frosting. We don't do cakes with flowers or regular frosting. People don't eat that any more. Give me your number and I'll see what the pastry chef can do. Can you come back in the morning? No? Well then we'll call you." Me, against my butter judgement: "OK. Let me know what you find out." Never got a call, and ordered from another bakery. The day of my party they called to ask if I was going to come in and pick up the cake I had supposedly ordered! Weird indeed. Also bought a couple eclairs and brownies while I was there that were less than inspiring -- dry, pretty flavorless, nothing I'd go back for. I adore this place! Once upon a time, when no one had ever heard of gluten, I would get the croissants from this bakery -- to die for! Light, flaky, buttery, perfect! Now that I'm gluten free, I go here for one of their two decadent gluten free cakes. One has an amaretto filling, the other strawberry. You can't believe they are gluten free! They offer them by the slice or whole. One day, when I went to get a piece of cake, the gal behind the counter said: "Since you're getting this cake, I just wondered if you'd like a loaf of gluten free bread. We don't always have it, but we made a few loaves today." It had been months since I'd had bread, let alone freshly made bread -- what a treat! What is more, she took my number and now whenever they bake the gluten free bread, they call me and will reserve a loaf until I can get off work and get over there. Now that's service! read more

The pastries were just ok- not enough to get me to go out of my way for a return trip. Honestly, based strictly on their sticky buns and bear claws it's a two-star joint. But the cinnamon roll with raisins was delicious and they were absoultely wonderful people- and based on those two factors alone I have to kick it up another star. read more

This Bakery is so much fun! It's a little French bakery owned by a Frenchman it also has a cafe / restaurant attached to it. The bakery has all kinds of desserts ranging from extravagant to simple cookies but everything is sure to be delicious. Very well priced and the front counter ladies are very sweet. Although everything is adorable (platter of Christmas cookies) and amazingly decorated, I find that something is just a little bit off with their pastries. I was given a creme brulee, and it was lackluster and tasted like vanilla pudding. I bought a $3.50 tiny fruit tart and it had 10 slices of fruit, so the fruit was a refreshment. But once again, there was something off like it wasn't like any fruit tart I had ever tasted. It's just not good enough. More like a vanilla pudding taste. I traveled over 15 miles, one way, to pick up a loaf of Brioche after I had been previously informed it could be sliced to specificity. I had an important event the following morning which required 1/2 inch slices for presentation. Employees by the names of Trish and Crystal stated they would be able to accomodate, so I made the venture to La Baguette from La Canada and Tangerine area. When I arrived, I was informed the bread could not be cut to specific deminsion but I could purchase the pre-cut loafs at approximately 1/8 inches. I reminded Trish and Crystal of our previous conversation less than an hour ago and was informed I could talk to the owner/manager sometime next week if I called. The matter of fact and condecending attitudes were right in line with the quality of service demonstrated this day and needless to say, I did not make a purchase and took my business elsewhere.
