According to the Colorvat policies, this money is supposed to be issued as a gift card to the client, but mine never were and I suspect the same is true for many other clients - they are just betting on you not calling them on it. So now I am held hostage to spend hundreds of dollars here, but to use the "gift cards" (my own money) I can't book through the online system, and have very slow and stilted interactions by text when I try to book with their administration. There are lots of other places to get a good manicure - I hope my story will help you avoid the same problems! PLEASE watch out if you modify a reservation you made online!

I had a unique pink and white acrylic which not many people do so I asked them to just remove the cracked acrylic and put a regular acrylic nail with a standard color and I understood it would not match. Well I did not get that. First off the person used the drill with the fine point to clean my nail bed to the point I was bleeding. I just had my nails done five days ago so my nail beds were in good shape and they should never be cleaned to the point they are bleeding! She never apologized, acknowledged her error or put any antiseptic on the cut. I had to ask for some alcohol to stop the bleeding. She kept telling me I had a tip on my nail and I told her no it was all acrylic, just pink and white. She refused to understand. She then used some sort of clear gel build up solution to attempt to match my existing pink and white nails even after I again told her I was alright having a standard non-matching colored acrylic nail. I gave up trying to communicate with her. At least the nail won't break until I get home from vacation and go to my regular nail tech. Also while I was waiting for my service I was watching the lead guy do acrylic nails on someone. She complained that he was doing them too short. She said one of them was shorter than her finger! He laughed when she said this. I looked at her hands and they were all different lengths. She also kept complaining that it was getting too hot when he was thinning out the acrylic. You could tell the lady was disgusted.

For years, I used a plastic gold loyalty card they gave me. Despite regular visits, it never amounted to any $$ off, which seemed odd, but they kept telling me I was very close to a reward. Earlier this year, I tried to give the card, and the employee said it no longer worked, but I could give my phone # and that would credit the same way with all my points intact. that Today, I gave my phone number again and asked for my status because I still hadn't received a reward. They informed me that my only point total was from that same day's spending. They could see prior visits, but they wouldn't honor them, and some unspecified change had invalidated all of the customers' prior spending with the former so-called "loyalty" card I diligently brought in with me every time. Their prices are higher than other neighborhood offerings anyway. And they never give any promo discounts to acknowledge appreciation towards their customers or entice you in. As someone who tries to be mindful of my spending, it still seemed worth coming because any incremental spend would, I was told, add up to some reward later on. Well, so much for that! Pity all the other poor souls blindly being told they're racking up loyalty points while it's all really a sham. Be wary unless you can just spend with abandon with no reward for loyalty in return.

The 10 minute massage they charged me $15 for consisted of about 5 minutes of actual massage and the rest was spent completing the pedicure. They were unkind throughout the service and upcharged me several times for add-ons that did not warrant it. When I only tipped $10 (which I had to do through Venmo), I was yelled at in front of the salon. Lots of better salons in the area, avoid this place at all costs.

When I asked how long for a gel mani, they said no wait. I was seated right away and they started the soak off process. However, they left me sitting there way longer than normal because they had no nail technicians available. There also was no one working the desk, so as people continued to come in, one of the nail techs had to keep stopping and going to the front to help. No onto the manicure itself. I had three different people work on me until one woman took over. I had dip powder on my nails and they seemed very confused about how to remove it? I found that strange since it is a service offered here. The actual manicure was good and the woman did a great job on my nails. I thought they had a nice color selection to choose from too. However, the price was pretty steep for a regular gel mani with removal ($55 before tip). I think this is a good place if you are in the area looking for somewhere near the subway. I will probably stick to my other salons I'm a regular at, but it is good if you're in a pinch and in the area!

My manicure lasted way shorten than the first and felt less comfortable. It was rushy, anxious and impersonal. Each mani after my 1st last exactly 2 weeks- the polish lifted and peeled ridiculously. Try tying up a ponytail with peeling nail polish, thee worst! My 3rd time would be similiar- cold, hurried and abrupt, short communication. I think this way of being in these places has become so status quo that it is no longer questioned or challenged. My 4th time is the shortness time of all. This time I got a pedicure. I didn't get polish so I was really hoping so attention would be given to the smoothness of my toenails since they again, wouldn't be covered with polish. Not so much. I don't press people that handle my food or body parts (for reason that most may understand) so I left it alone. My manicure was the shortness time spent to date.
