The pizza was great. I had two margarita slices and they were worth the price. The sauce was substantial, savory, but not overpowering. The cheese was as it should have been, melty, and complimentary to the red sauce. The dough had a great bite to it, and had a nice balance between a chewy and doughy texture. The service was solid. The guys were nice and had no attitude whatsoever (unlike my recent trip to Joe's off of union square or near Washington Square Park, where they have some attitude for no reason). Ambiance is unpretentious. It's a NY pizza parlor through and through so you should know what to expect. Fluorescent lights where you may or may not look like a goblin as you kill your food, standard tables and lots of white on the walls and surfaces. Clean. Nice little table or two outside to sit and eat when it isn't horribly freezing. Recommended. read more

The place was nice and clean. The pizza was really good. It's $3 for a slice of cheese, that's the same price as Manhattan. The only bad thing about this place was that they're racist. Seriously, how dare you make your customers feel discriminated upon?! The guy behind the counter who wore a white T shirt, white apron, white bandana, glasses, and a mustache (he's in one of the pictures I posted) didn't like that I put the money on top of the counter. Note that I didn't throw the money. I didn't dump it. I simply put it nicely on top of the counter because I'm holding other stuff with my hands. He said "that's not how we pay here. Maybe in China, but not here." Wtf?! The fact that his mindset is wired to think like that is racist. And by saying it to customers is wrong and so RUDE! I told him I'm not from China and he didn't care. I also told him to give me my money back and he won't. The guy is a racist douchebag. I've been coming to Rocco's place since I was a kid. I recently moved back to the neighborhood after four years in another state and the pizza here tastes just like I remember. The sauce is special, and while I do miss the familiar faces in person they're there in spirit on the walls. Still the best plain slice in my book. read more

Rude, unhelpful, & mediocre pizza-- it was evident the staff didn't even want to be there, came in with a stroller but had a hard time getting in because their mat was blocking the way.. no one bothered to assist. Asking for ranch was a whole conversation between the guys, making the simple question seem awkward. The cheese in my pinwheel was uncooked & the whole thing tasted like one giant ball of dough. Having just moved to the neighborhood, I was in search of a local pizzeria to feed my amazing movers who donated their time to move my boxes and furniture up a three-story walk-up. All Yelpers pointed me to Minitalia Pizza. I don't always follow the Yelp stars, often opting to see for myself, but in this case, I'm very pleased that I did! The crust was crisp! The sauce was robust and full of flavor! The toppings were generous, yet not excessive. It was slightly salty for my personal taste, but not so much that I didn't love the pizza. Whether by the pie or by the slice, it always tastes great! The gentleman who works the pies recognized me by my second visit. Cool folks! Best pizza in the area? I can't say since I haven't tried the others, but what I can say is I love this place and I dream about their garlic pizza. One of the movers who came back to the area to visit me mentioned wanting to go back, so I'm not alone in this love. read more

Wow, what a pleasant surprise. I've walked by here for the longest time (on the way to , say, Rosa's) and never stopped in until today. Everyone in here was speaking Italian, which was a good sign. I ordered a regular and a grandma slice, totaling $5. I should have waited longer to eat, as I burned my tongue and the roof of my mouth. The regular was above average-- the crust was that nice crispy outer layer with a little char and soft innards, the sauce and cheese less remarkable. The grandma was pretty killer-- the garlicky sauce was top-notch and dense with flavor. Definitely one of the best slices in the neighborhood-- I'll be back to try the Sicilian. read more

Long time customer of this place. But tonight was the end . WAITED 2.5 HOURS FOR A PIZZA!!! When it came to me, the delivery lady asked how long I was waiting and I told her 2 and 1/2 hours. This is by far the best pizza in Ridgewood. It is right around the corner from me, and I love love love their pizza. Its a family owned business so you could expect a friendly place. The owner has been through a lot, and still keeps the store open. The cheese is so good, the sauce is perfect and overall its great pizza. Low prices too! The only downside to this place is that since its family owned, if they go on vacation or weddings they close for a few months. But if you are looking for a great slice I suggest this place over all the other pizzerias in Ridgewood. read more

Back when there used to be a non-chain pizzeria on every corner in NYC, the pizza would taste like what Minitalia would serve. It's usually empty inside, so one assumes most the business Minitalia does is take-out. It's not bad though. Definitely reminds me of the pizza I had when I was growing up. read more

I'm taking this place down off its pedestal. 5 stars is a joke to me for this place now. I worked in a pizzeria before and never gave the wrong person a pie that someone else was waiting for. I was told a minipie takes 10 minutes by a guy who works here and apparently shouldn't have listened. Last time I called while I was getting in the car I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes, but took 20. This time was told 25 minutes as I was getting into my car and waited around outside until it was time only to be told they apparently gave my pie to someone else. And then told I would have to wait another 15 minutes. So unacceptable. If that was the case and a mistake was made I should have been offered 3 slices for the price of the minipie if not a complimentary slice. An apology doesn't get me back my time and it doesn't change the fact that I have somewhere to go and needed some food in my body before having to wait another hour and a half. This place has great pizza, but its not worth all the crap that you have to deal with to get it. I'm no longer driving out of my way to get this and will be happy to return to Joeys pizza on grand Ave. Super disappointed in the inconsistency and customer service. Goodbye Minitalia. read more

Rosa's what?? Ok, here's the deal: There are five (or four) other pizzerias around this place, so why do I -- along with a million other people -- choose Minitalia? Because it's f*cking good, that's why! All you need are a few healthy taste buds to see why Minitalia is good. Scratch that, good is an understatement. Giving 4 stars here because I do think Minitalia had a solid plain "NY Style" pizza. The sauce tastes great, and the dough/crust is great if you like it softer style. Also, its always great to see a long running family owned business these days when everything in NYC seems to be getting taken over by some sort of corporation. I took off 1 star because I asked for peppers and mushrooms on a second slice assuming they were fresh. I was a bit surprised when I received the slice to find an alien looking heap of canned peppers and mushrooms just slopped on top of a cheese slice.... there was probably a good 3/4 a pound of the canned peppers/mushrooms on one slice! read more
