From the healthy portions of proteins and toppings to the indulgent inclusion of garlic cheese bread, you really can't make a wrong choice. My favorites are the Spicy Dagget and the Italian Trio. Try not to focus on just the sandwiches, their deli salad is a unique blend of mixed greens, provel and Parmesan, black olives and pepperoncinis, and if they have soup available, you better take advantage, because it's not always on the menu. Also make sure you check the cooler before you leave to stock up on Hot Salami Queso and summer sausage! If you are wondering if their original hot salami sandwich lives up to the hype, the answer is yes! My mom and I both got a 6in and just half was enough to fill us up! They are generous with the amount of meat and toppings you are given, and the prices are not bad for a quality hot sandwich. The staff were infectiously happy even though they were pretty busy when I visited, the service was also quick I don't think I waited more than 15 minutes even though they were packed! Our family has been patrons of Gioia's Deli since my parent were children. As a kid we often drove down to the Hill specifically for the hot salami sandwich. I moved from STL for college and haven't lived here since, but every time I come to visit my kids now begged for Gioias! Ordered the Hot Salami on white with Provel and Spicy Mustard. My wife ordered the Roast Beef with Provel. Sandwiches were amazing. The regular size was plenty for the both of us. My only two negatives: - no prices on the menu - no list of topping options on the menu Being a new Gioia's customer, these things would have been nice and would have sped up our order in advance. We were a little nervous on the speed of service when we walked in the door as it appeared there were more people that were waiting than eating. From the moment we walked in the door til we got our sandwiches was just under 20 min. I felt that was reasonable considering they were busy. In town for work and colleague said "there's this new sandwich shop" so I ran to grab it for our lunch. There was a line, I will give you that, but there is a kiosk you can order yourself and skip the line if you like. I needed to ask a couple clarifying questions surrounding gluten so I waited for the person at the counter. It didn't take too long after ordering to get my sandwiches and they were quite good. Surprisingly good - and large! Also got some rice crispy treats that were also delicious and large. While the hot salami and roast beef on cheese garlic bread is still my favorite, the Italian trio and Italian poor boy were great too. My wife really liked both the turkey and chicken salad.
