Hi. I want to give a shout out to Ricky from L.A. Blue Plumbing and Heating. Back in 2003, they installed my air condition and heating units for a very reasonable price. They were very attentive to my questions and concerns. Over the years, I have changed the filter but never had the unit serviced. This is because I rarely use either the heat or the air. I recently had them service my unit. I had had a mice issue in the attic which requited the complete removal and re installation of the attic insulation. Had a gas leak last night and waited 6 hrs for the gas company to arrive at 2:30am to assess the situation and shut my gas off. LA Blue came out, used my Filter, and charged me $89 for a service call. The Owner (Rick) was at my house maybe 15 minutes tops, and most of the time he was staring down at his cell phone. After he had left, I went out for the evening, came back and my heater was still blowing cold air. So I went to google and youtube to troubleshoot the problem and found out: 1) $89 was standard for a heating service; 2) a standard service includes cleaning the heat sensor and a filter if needed. The repairman used my backup filter, and I didn't see him clean anything. So I went to youtube and inquired on how to clean a heating sensor and found it was relatively simple and accessible. I removed the heat sensor (one screw), used a brillo pad and an old piece of sand paper (as instructed), and cleaned the sensor. My heater now works correctly. You would think this would be the end of the experience. Nope - my wife gets home, and I bragged to her about what I did, and she replies, "I used them about a year ago, " and the repairman said he had to clean the sensor and charged me almost $200 (she is the one who recommended I use LA Blue). It pains me to have to negatively Yelp a black owned business because I love spending my money with my folks, but in this case, a negative 1 Star is warranted. LA Blue billed me for service and materials they did not perform or supply. It's not like I was asking for a discount or special treatment, so I expect if I pay your fee the work is performed. Our two floor heating furnaces, which were installed when our house was built in 1929, had been giving us problems for the last few years and were beyond repair and had to be replaced. Our house remains pretty cool even when it's hot, so we decided to forego a full HVAC system and just go with heating. We interviewed six companies, read reviews and decided on a company. At the last minute we contacted a plumbing company (LRS Plumbing) who had recently replaced our main sewer line and done an outstanding job and asked for a referral. They told us to call Ricky Bledsoe at LA Blue Plumbing and Heating. These guys didn't have a fancy website, in fact they didn't even have a website, and they had no reviews to compare. We had done our due diligence on all of the other companies and were a little nervous there was nothing for us to compare but when we met Ricky and spoke to him about his approach, and got his bid, which promised the same for less than all the other contractors, plus having the recommendation from LRS Plumbing, we decided to take a chance on LA Blue Plumbing and Heating. And we are so glad we did! Ricky is the best. All the conversations throughout the entire job went like this: "we want you to be happy; and we want you to have what you want." They were on time, answered every question, and delivered on every commitment all the other six contractors we interviewed and promised, for less. When all the work was completed and we powered up the best 95% high efficiency furnace American Standard makes, it was loud as hell and that was one of our biggest concerns. I had an agonizing moment where I felt that after all the research we had done we made the wrong decision. Ricky told us not to worry. He was back at our house the next morning at 9AM, took out the down draft motor, spent a half day testing other new motors at the wholesaler, that were all noisier than the one he pulled out. He called representatives of the company, got them to order another motor for this furnace that would resolve the problem and kept us abreast of the progress the entire time. That's integrity. Wow! I am seriously so impressed! The back story is, previous to LA Blue Plumbing, I have been dealing with one of the worst companies in LA who had come out Friday to"repair" the A/C. They did not repair it, just masked the problem, because he didn't have any of the parts needed to actually repair it. It's now Saturday afternoon the following day and the lack of "repair" from the other company is very evident because we are in the middle of a heat wave! I had called at least 10 other companies off the internet who of course were slammed and had no availability until Monday. Someone suggested I check Yelp. I usually don't write any reviews good or bad. However, this time I felt obnoxious for the lack of service from this company. I used Ricky's service back in December 2017 when my water heater broke just 2 days before new year. I called Ricky who was very nice to come out immediately to help as it was really cold. He came and replaced the thermo couple which took about less than an hour and charged me $350. He justified the higher price for the tiny copper wire being expensive. I also needed his help with a heating/cooling unit at my condo which really had an old heating element inside the air handler. My HOA told me that only this company and another one knows this and nobody else can do this as this is old and way back from 1974. He looked at it for a long time and finally figured out it was the relay which was causing the issue. He originally quoted me $750 for replacing the heating element but still charged me the same price for replacing the relay. I justified it to myself that he came immediately during holidays, so, didn't want to complain. Recently, when the A/C unit didn't cool the condo, I called, texted and put in a request via their website for help. I did this because the receipt says the work had a 1 year warranty. Me not knowing the difference between the heating and cooling, waiting for a response from Ricky but nobody called or responded. Then, I figured it out on my own that A/C (cooling) is different and it has nothing to do with the heating and got somebody else to help me with it. Even if they thought it has nothing to do with them, I wish they should have responded to me to convey it.
