Very cool spot but I do think it is over hyped. We got to dinner a bit early to get a drink at the bar. The bartender was in a very crabby mood. I think he said you are next about 3 times before we got a drink 35 minutes after trying. It was sad to see such poor service at such a nice place where drinks are $35 dollars each. Thankfully we were able to take our drinks down to dinner after we got them. Service for dinner was good! I had an old menu it seemed but informed the staff. I got a pornstar martini to drink which was great! The food was average. We got tuna, artichokes, chicken, and truffle gnocchi. The artichokes were very strange in flavor. I love artichokes but the sauce underneath did not go. The truffle gnocchi was the best part. They also did not allow us to take any pictures. I was able to sneak a few. Love this place an have had a fantastic experience both times I've been. The vegetarian options are delicious and they have an expansive vegetarian selection, rare for steakhouses or Argentine restaurants. Cheese empanada is delish, eggplant milanesa is fantastic (crispy without overly greasy) and paired with a killer sauce. The live music there is excellent and decor incredible. La Boca NYC is located inside the beautiful Faena hotel and has an elegant, open setup. The tables are spaced far apart, so you actually feel like you have your own space something rare in NYC. The décor is upscale with dim, warm lighting that makes the place feel both grand and intimate at the same time. We ordered the empanadas(delicious!!), the apple and hazelnut salad, the beet and pistachio dish, the Striped Sea Bass a la Plancha, the Beef Tower, the Lamb Chops, and two desserts (the chocolate layered cake and the tart). Everything was beautifully presented and tasted great. The sea bass was light and flavorful, and the lamb chops were tender and perfectly cooked. The beef tower was solid but not necessarily a dish I'd return specifically for. The only real downside was the pacing the drinks took about 30 minutes to arrive, and the food service was slower than expected. The server was attentive and kind, so it seemed more like a kitchen or bar delay. It is a beautiful spot for a special dinner. During our entire time there, the hospitality was exceptional. As soon as you enter, you are immersed into a chic, elegant, and rich, red space. There's no doubt that it's beautiful. I started off with the Faena Spritz which honestly did not taste good. It was bitter and medicinal in flavor with the hibiscus being very overpowering. Thankfully, they took it back and off the bill. For ~$31 namesake cocktail, I had higher expectations. The appetizers were also not worth it. The Mendoza Beef Tenderloin Empanada actually tasted great. The filling was well-seasoned, tender, and juicy and the outside was warm, flaky, and crisp. My issue was that it was a single empanada for ~$16. I can get 5 empanadas for the same price at a local spot anywhere else. The Hiramasa Crudo was a skip for me. The flavors felt disjointed rather than harmonious, the yellowtail was a bit chewy, and again, the price point didn't match the quality or quantity. The true winner of this whole meal was the Wagyu Picanha. This was a true savior and 9/10! The wagyu picanha beef was cooked to a perfect medium, so tender, buttery, and slightly crusted on the outside. The chimichurri complimented the savory picanha so well. The crispy broken potatoes were outstanding and the sunny side egg was cooked to perfection. I loved this dish and it's certainly big enough to split! All in all, if you're there for the ambiance and aesthetic, you will enjoy it. If you're there for the food & drinks, it's a 3/5. I would stick to the mains or meat dishes (considering it's Argentinian). PS, the leopard print bathroom is located upstairs and we had no issues taking photos while we were there. I also reminded the waiter and specifically mentioned that when the dessert was brought, I would like a candle so I could make a wish. Sadly, the dessert arrived without a candle. I think I'm officially throwing in the towel on overhyped TikTok restaurants. The gag is... I didn't even make it to the table to figure this one out for myself. This place does not answer the phone. At all. I've been to plenty of popular, high-traffic restaurants and still managed to get someone on the line, so there's really no excuse. Then comes the in-person experience: the hosts/hostesses had an incredibly unwelcoming attitude. Right away, it set the tone. We were told we could be seated, but only if we agreed to order "small bites" and finish within one hour--at 6 PM on a Saturday? Strange conditions for a first visit, and frankly, a huge red flag. We ended up canceling our reservation before even sitting down. Between the lack of hospitality and the odd restrictions, it just wasn't worth it. Have been to La Boca twice and it is an excellent new restaurant. Not traditional Argentinian, but the food is all very good. The room is beautiful and the service is very refined. The cocktails are great too. My one complaint is that although they have a huge wine list. They only have a limited selection of Argentinian wines when they could have a much more comprehensive selection of South America wines. The live music is great too. read more

I'm not going to be snarky or rude on this review because the 2 stars I'm giving them are important stars. 1- ambience: it really is a gorgeous restaurant and they clearly put a lot of though time effort and money into the decor. I won't say it was the worst meal I ever had, Because it wasn't. It was just underwhelming, inmemorable and over priced. Seafood dishes were not fresh (I love seafood and it was FISHY AF). Meat was meh. Cooked very well. But bland boring unseasoned and chewy. Gnocchi was about as exciting as waiting for the train alone at night with no phone or music or sound (flat and empty). And charging $20 for a small baked empanada? Come on. I've gotten better empanadas on the street vendors in the Bronx for $20 I could get 20 of them. It was a little insulting. From the moment we entered the dining area, the experience at La Boca was disappointing. The hostess approached the hostess stand with, "Can you remind me of your name?" -- no hello, no introduction, no greeting at all. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. We also couldn't help but notice that we were seated in a section where the entire surrounding area consisted of dark-skinned people of color -- which we are as well. It felt noticeable and unsettling as we were all pushed against the back wall. Our reservation was for 10:30 PM. We placed our order for drinks and food as soon as we sat down. We didn't even receive the special Valentine's Day menu everyone else got. We waited 40 minutes just to receive our first round of drinks after we asked another member of the wait staff for an update on them, since our waitress was hardly attentive. Although we placed our entire order at once (apps and entrees together), the only thing that came out were empanadas, which were very oily. After that, nothing. We had placed an order for the red snapper and the lobster pasta, two dishes that don't take an hour and a half to prepare. Meanwhile, multiple parties who were seated after us received their main entrees before we did. By 12:00 AM -- an hour and a half after we initially sat down -- we still had not received our food. We finally asked them to just box up whatever they were cooking and decided to leave. As soon as we asked them to do that, we had the bag ready to go 5 minutes later. Once we got home, which was no more than a 10 minute drive, we went to eat. The lobster was so overcooked it became tough and very chewy. Overall, the service was inattentive, disorganized, and unprofessional from start to finish. The food didn't make up for the treatment we recieved either. The only downfall of the night was while using the ladies room to wash my hands I took off my rings and placed it on the counter. I didn't realize until I arrived back home, I forgot to place my rings back on my hand. It was difficult getting in contact with the restaurant, since there's no direct number to reach. I was placed in contact with their security at the hotel. I was hoping someone will be kind of enough to report it to Lost and found but to no success. Mediocre food, borderline insane photo policies, and rude staff sums this place up. If you look all over TikTok, there are multiple videos, mainly women of colors who were policed down to staff entering their photos in the bathroom of all places. This hotel needs to understand that they're not a members club and they should try to lay off a bit because there are many beautiful places in the city where they aren't acting like photos are the end of the world. They were so concerned with the photos that they got my husband's dish entirely wrong and served him a dry steak with no sauce. It was a huge issue to get it taken off the bill. The manager emailed me back and offered me to come back, but after seeing that so many people have had poor experiences I'm completely turned off and would never go again. I have literally been to the Corr Club and Aman in New York, which is are exclusive private clubs and they were very friendly and accommodating and allowed many photos even having staff volunteer to help. Who on earth does Faena think they are? The Miami hotel is filled with influencers flashing away and taking photos so perhaps they should address that "issue" as well. My prediction is that in another year or two it'll be completely empty because it's so far out of the way to get to, the food and drinks aren't anything to write home about, and let's face it in this day and age people want photos of cute Decor, which they're not allowing. read more

Bad customer service from the start when I first arrived to put my name on the waitlist the hostess told me to give him a few minutes into wait over there in the lobby and he didn't even ask if I had a reservation or not which I did and I told him and he said it would be a couple of minutes for a table. Then while I'm waiting in the lobby, this rude girl tells me to move out of the way so she can take pictures not the restaurant fault but still weird behavior and a bad experience from someone who just traveled six hours on the plane to try this restaurant and enjoy New York for the first time. after we finally get our table. The waiter is very nice, but it is super busy on a Monday night and it is around 10:30 and still no food after ordering and still have not got my Diet Coke. The restaurant didn't even notice that our food was taking forever and just said that it would be out shortly until I complain to another hostess that it had been a while that we've been waiting with no food or drinks in the end, they took off the drinks from the bill. We were welcomed with kindness and seated at the perfect table after not loving our first table close to the bar. Marie, our server was so kind, knowledgeable, interesting, and unfussy yet professional! She was a true delight and I feel like we made a friend in her! Terrible service!! The hostesses are horrible. They lost track of who came when and whose reservation was when. It's like you get sat whenever they feel like it. So don't plan in sitting until an hour after your reservation and then eating maybe 2hrs after your reservation. I mean getting something basic like napkins took tracking someone down. They recommended me to walk upstairs to the second floor to check out the bar, the hospitality was terrible walked out and said goodbye to the workers at the front desk and they did not acknowledge us whatsoever. I said goodbye two times and they just looked at me like I was a stranger or a homeless person walking in. Five star environment with two star service at the second floor. La Boca was a hellish experience for my friends and me. We had called the restaurant beforehand, and a restaurant employee answered. We asked her, since the restaurant is FULLY BOOKED OUT EVERY SINGLE DAY, if our group could just be at the bar area. She said it was fine and that there was space available. Our group ordered an Uber all the way there, only to be met by ginormous bouncer looking security guards at every checkpoint of the lobby for the restaurant/bar. We were then told that we were not allowed to go into any area, and that the restaurant AND bar was at capacity. This was told only to people of color, may I add. When we left, we could clearly see from outside that the bar was not packed at all and that there were barely any people of color inside. It was a completely distasteful experience, from the staff to the restaurant policies. It's utterly disgraceful for a restaurant of this supposed caliber to be treated and guarded like a nightclub as well. read more
