Grocery shopping in Las Vegas, Nevada…read more.. I searched for a grocery store on my Yelp app and found Albertsons. We don't have this chain of stores in Hawaii, so, I was kind of curious. Mom needed tonic water. She said she drinks it to prevent leg cramps. Last night, she had cramps on one leg and then the other. The pain disrupted her sleep and she didn't want it to happen again. We had shopped at the 99 Cents Only Store, Dollar Tree, and CVS, but had found no tonic water. We hoped Albertsons would have some... And they did! Since we were there, I looked for Knox gelatin (powder) in a container (instead of using packets). I had bought some in the past from a mainland store, but I can't remember which store. Unfortunately, Albertsons didn't have any. Well... At least mom has tonic water. Let's pray that she has restful sleep tonight!

Well that's how I feel about Winco... it's a no frills kind of market with generally decent stuff and I know where everything is and I know and the cashiers know me. Yeah, it's not like Sprouts or Whole Foods, not as many of the same type of an item as Smiths or Albertsons , not nearly as bare bones as Aldi's.... But you know what? It is generally fine for what I need , especially on a quick trip. Yeah, I'm not getting Boarshead deli meat or Sprouts in store sushi... but if I need "routine" groceries like eggs, breads, canned goods and produce, I'm going to go Winco and save a bit. Their shelf rotation system is good with respect to FIFO .... I generally shop here for my normal and routine items and still shop at Sprouts or Costco or Sam's Club for specialty or bulk items... plus Winco is right down and across the parkway from the Bsgel cafe .
