We were hungry in Tucson and came across this place. It's a fun and friendly environment. We seated ourselves and were greeted quickly. Our server made suggestions when we asked about a few items on the menu. The Carnitas Michuacan and Birria Tacos were stand outs. Food was great and the salsa bar was delicious! We would definitely visit this place again.
Amazing food with even better service! Ordered the carne asada tacos and a Sonoran dog (wasn't sure about having chorizo in my Sonoran dog) and paired it with a 32oz margarita. All were fantastic! There is also a salsa bar with a variety of different salsas fo your tacos.. Overall a great experience at La Botana, and we'll define back soon! Two thumbs, two toes and a smack in the ass for La Botana! Happy eating, my foodies! Pro Tip: sit at the bar and order the 2 for $25 32oz margaritas. You'll thank me later...
I've been going to La Botana for many years, starting at their old location on Fort Lowell (which was a little closer to where friends live, but no matter, we're okay with making the longer trek!). The food and drink have always been great, as has the service. Plenty of seating options indoors and out, with some seating straddling between the two (at a large window that slides up). We chose inside since it was quite hot outside, even late in the evening mid-September. Plentiful chips arrived at the table when we sat down, and we all grabbed our favorite salsas at the salsa bar. All tasty, some intensely hot, including the pickled jalapeños. For drinks, one of us opted for their tasty horchata, one of us their mojito, and two of us thought the 32 oz margaritas sounded wonderful. These were not weak margaritas, BTW, and 32 oz is a lot! You'd think they'd be expensive, but they were 2 for $25, which is an insane deal! I ordered the three street tacos (with corn tortillas, of course), my girlfriend got the quesadillas, and one of my friends ordered the Percheron Combo. All delicious. Will be staying as one of my go-tos whenever I go to Tucson!
La Botana is a bright, colorful restaurant with very good food and an excellent salsa bar. I went for lunch with two coworkers recently, and we all enjoyed our food. The chips and salsa got things started off right; the salsa bar has a great array of options for all preferences. We tried about half a dozen of the salsas, and all of them were great! Between us, we got quesabirria tacos, fish tacos, and calabacita mini chimis. The quesabirria tacos were STUFFED -- I felt absolutely full to bursting after eating just two! They had very good flavor in both the meat and the consommé. I also liked that they were served with onion and cilantro on the side, so you can add each to your personal taste. My coworkers also really enjoyed their meals, and one complimented the mini chimis' lightness even as a fried food. The only minor critique is that the rice and beans that came as the side for the tacos were slightly under-seasoned. It was nothing a quick squeeze of lime and/or a dash of salsa couldn't fix, though. The service was quick and friendly.
The last time I was here, I was married, and it was the old location. My how life has changed! I met a couple friends from out of state, and from the time I pulled into the parking lot, my experience was amazing. The old location was small, and this location is spacious and welcoming. The decor is bright, but not gaudy. I felt like I was in San Carlos Mexico on a dive trip....(minus the water and diving). :-). The server was amazing, (and I did not get her name) ...but she was super friendly. I had carne asada tacos on corn tortillas, and my other friend had shrimp tacos. The food was mouth watering. The seasoning on the carne asada was on point! The chips came out and the first bowl is FREE, and they have a salsa bar that is off the hook. Worth a visit, and I WILL make this a regular stop now.
Such a cute spot Came during happy hour and everything hit the spot. Good service. Just be mindful that it's seat yourself so grab a table when you can. Worth the wait. The chicken mini chimis were crispy and flavorful and the bean dip was delicious. Will definitely be back
Celebrating our 42nd Anniversary seen this cute restaurant called Botana Tacos and decided to try it. We were seated right away. Our waitress Mia was really nice. We started with the mini Chimis barbacoa. I ordered Three Amigos Tacos, hubby ordered Don Cameron Grilled Burrito. Everything was Delicious.
One of our go-to spots for good tacos and drinks. Every time we go it's so delicious. The staff is really friendly and the vibe is very relaxed. I love their outdoor patio but the bar is also a nice place to sit. I didn't get the name of our bartender but she was a younger gal and she was KILLIN it making so many drinks on a busy Friday night, one after the other. I ordered a cazuela palomita, I had never had a cazuela before, and I loved it! So refreshing. The salsa bar is also a huge plus here, the fact that you can help yourself and try all sorts of different salsas is excellent.
It was really busy when we visited but the vibes were up! Music was playing it was a bit loud but in a fun way. The food was good, I usually have ordered the vegetarian mini chimis and I will say they have been better in the past. It was a lot of dough and not a lot of filling. Definitely liked the carne asada burrito though! Will go back for another chance but wish they were higher quality as they have been in the past. Overall still a great pick with a good-deal for lunch menu.
Our server was super friendly and attentive, she checked on us many times when we were seated on the patio. We loved that the patio was dog friendly so my cocker spaniel could eat with us! Our margaritas were good - not the best I've ever had but the novelty of 32 oz of margarita on a Saturday at 5 pm was fun! Our tacos were very good - the chicken itself in the tacos was fabulous. I wish the shells of the crispy tacos were crispy, but the crispy came from the cheese. All and all it was a good meal and good service and worth stopping by for a quick meal in Tucson!
Love La botana! Visiting tucson after moving away more than a decade ago. This was one of my favorite spots and it was great to return. Bean dip is amazing great drinks.

We went to La Botana Tacos at their very last night at the location on 1st as the staff informed us they were moving a couple of miles North to a location just off 1st at Wetmore starting in a week. We came for their infamous happy hour which has half priced drinks and appetizer faves. We had the Guac and Chips, Mini Chimi's and Carne Asada fries with beef. We sat outside which was rather noisy with the street traffic but we had wonderful friendly servers and delicious food and drink. We had Prickly Pear Margaritas and Strawberry Mango Margaritas along with the shared appetizers mentioned above. All were great tasting and authentic. Overall, this place seems well-loved as there was a steady stream of people coming and going. Now we need to try the newer (quieter?) location next time in town. read more

DELICIOUS FOOD! AMAZING SERVICE! Atmosphere of the restaurant was exciting and comforting. New modern Mexican vibe with traditional selection of food and drinks. Love the staff! -- they were all welcoming and friendly. Ordered birria tacos, beef mini chimis, and toritos gueritos. Every bite was delicious!! Love their salsas, sauces, and bean dip! Location is mid-town. Worth the drive for good Mexican food and service. I truly love what they did to the place. Vibrant, fun, and lots of energy going around! I highly recommend this taco joint. I got a couple tacos to go. They were delicious plenty of food and the price was good. They are loaded as you can see from the photo with meat and veggies. So I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, I just hadn't gotten around to it, and now I'm like ohmygawd I'm dumb I should have went. I didn't know what kind of vibes to expect but it was super chill and cute decor ANDDD it had my favorite thing- a big fat salsa bar. I got the toritos tacos, yummmm I was so happy they served those. My friends got mini chimis and carne asada fries which I obviously stole some of and they were tastyyy. My friend who got the mini chimis is the least adventurous eater ever, like chicky nuggy and French fry diet, and she loved them. read more

I used to love this place in its old location on first(near the boondocks) and their giant margaritas. But I love the new location on Wetmore even more!!! Had a delightful lunch experience today! The giant two for one drinks are still around and do not disappoint! Food was delicious, definitely get those stuffed peppers! Excellent service! Loved the brightly painted interior throughout and the mural near the bar. It looks like they still have a good patio to use as well, clean bathrooms, plenty of parking.. definitely an upgrade from before. Definitely will be back! read more

I would categorize this restaurant as average, nothing exceptional about it. The tacos were average and good, but nothing to write home about. I like that they moved locations and I feel like this area will be better suited for them. The service is very friendly but a little chaotic. It took quite sometime to checkout- so expect to wait sometime. I do enjoy that they provide you with a free bowl of chips and salsa and bean dip. They do have really great happy hour deals. Their drinks are large and their mini chimis pretty good. I would recommend those. read more
La Botana has a really nice outdoor patio space. It was shaded, and they provide table-top fans to repel flies. Sitting outside was comfortable and enjoyable. They give complimentary chips and bean dip. You are free to get as many salsas as you'd like from their indoor salsa bar. They had many tasty selections! I ordered the Barbacoa tacos on corn tortillas. The meat was tender and flavorful. However, the tortillas did get rather soggy and they broke. It would have been nice if they had been toasted a bit! But overall, the food was good, their salsas make any dish that much more tasty, and I would definitely eat here again. read more

We are from the Phoenix area and found this place from Instagram. We came here after the U of A game and boy was it worth it. I didn't know what to expect but was amazingly surprised. First off, when you sit down they greet you with bean dip and chips!! And then ask you to head over to their salsa bar with at least 7 or so different types of salsas. And they were ALL good!!! I ordered the Sonoran steak tacos, 2 in the order and they were the most delicious tacos ever. The meat so was tender and so flavorful. Just perfect!! My husband order 2 Sonoran tacos as well as 2 Barbacoa tacos. Wow!! Talk about flavors. These tacos were so good. Definitely recommend this place. For the price, I would definitely recommend it. You will not be disappointed. The staff was great and the new place is beautiful. Please give them a go!! The new place is on Wetmore Rd. read more

I love this restaurant and their vibe. I have been a regular since they were on 1st and Fort Lowell and loved the patio and margaritas there. The new location is a little farther and the patio is more commercial and less festive, but the food and margaritas haven't changed a bit. I def recommend this place..and I totally understand why they needed to love locations. That Walmart really ruined that corner. read more

On a motorcycle ride fro So Cal and base camped here in Tucson and decide to try here for dinner. I had the Chicken Tinga Tacos which were delicious! Layda was our server and she was a wonderful hostess! We had a group of 5 total and everyone loved the food and to top it off there was a wedding g taking place on the patio! This is the place to be on Friday! Although we did not partake, they had a 2 for 1 drink that appeared every other customers were ordering. They are easily seen as the 32oz glasses were flowing from the bar. Try this place of you like a party atmosphere when you eat. read more

Such a cute place with easy parking and in an awesome location. It was raining so we didn't sit outside but I wanted too. Service was great and very friendly. It's you local bar meets a fun dining experience. Food was really good I had the fires and my friend had a best tacos. Definitely worth the stop by and the margaritas looked soooo soooo good. I stopped at La Botana just by chance. I had been shopping at the Tucson Mall and had the taste for tacos, Yelp to the rescue and I knew it was nearby. I had the Tres Amigos Taco plate and it was an excellent choice. I made it into a combination, one carne asada, one birria and one barbacoa. All of the meats were cooked to perfection, had the authentic Mexican flavor and then tacos were super stuffed! Service was excellent, and everything was clean. I'm happy to have one more option to choose from in that part of town. read more

I love a place with a well lit patio! The vibes are great outside and I love the way they decorated the space. Now, about the food definitely delicious. We just got a plate of birria tacos which were fire 10/10. Carne asada tacos were also bomb. There isn't ever a time I say "this is as good as my family's tacos " but this really felt like home ! Just wish it came with a couple of sides because for the price I paid I should have stayed at home. Jkjk, don't give me wrong the girls and I had a great time and it's nice not having to clean up my own mess lol thanks for having us! read more

Botana is our go to spot whenever we look at each other and can't decide what we want. The margaritas are large in size and taste--a rare combination. The food is consistently good. The service is as good as the margaritas and food are. The servers are friendly, prompt, and good at their jobs. They all know I'll be having a Blue Demon and steak Percheron as soon as I sit down. They make you feel like family at La Botana and that is why I keep returning. read more

We had the best time here. The staff is nice and so welcoming.The restaurant had to move from 1st ave but the space here is just perfect.The building used to be Applebee's and they cut the building in half so that churches is on the other side. But when you walk in it is beautifully decorated the bar is comfortable and there's space outside. The drinks are large. I got a Michelada and it was just delicious. My partner and I shared the Sonoran dog and fry dish. We also got some tacos. They also have a salsa bar that you can try.I am not kidding every salsa I tried was my new favorite. We are so glad they reopened because it's nearby and we will definitely come back for happy hour and lunch throughout the summer. read more

Quaint and offbeat little taco spot full of flavor. The menu is limited but the food they offer is good. There's outdoor seating if that's your preference and a few tables inside. They run a 2 for 1 margarita special all day ($24). The drink is huge but the tequila was minimal. Our waitress was nice and attentive. There's a sign on the door stating that they're moving locations soon. The parking lot at night is a bit seedy with un housed people and random patrons of the smoke shop next door, but they didn't bother us. Just keep your head on a swivel and move quickly. The lot is well lit so don't be deterred to try this little gem. read more
