This place surprised me. While the pizza was slightly better than the usual (bad) neighborhood haunts like Smiling and the awful Joe's, the pasta is really tasty. Get the Chicken Marsala... it's a ton of food and takes a bit longer to cook (10 minutes) but it's delicious, buttery, and comes with freshly baked (no joke!) rolls. While their pizza again was better than the neighborhood average (which isn't exactly saying much) the non-pizza items are where they really shine. A relatively hidden gem in Park Slope. A great place to get some really good lasagna and pizza, all at great prices. The food is flavorful and the service is always friendly. This is going to be a strange review because I eat here all the time even though I am only giving them 2 stars. It's near where I work and it's probably the best close pizza. The good ends there. These guys are crooks, they mischarge all the time, hand out incorrect or unusable currency (Canadian or other coins and broken bills) and they are just unpleasant. La Bruschetta is nothing fancy, but it's classic New York pizza! The pizza is always fresh and delicious. My favorites are a classic cheese slice or a corner of their Sicilian pie. When I'm in the mood for something special, their deep dish buffalo chicken slice is exactly what I'm looking for. It's got a good amount of chicken, their buffalo sauce has got a kick but not overpowering, and the blue cheese dressing and mozzarella cheese are the perfect topping. And when I've got a sweet tooth, their classic Italian zeppoles are great - well done, not greasy, and topped with lots of powdered sugar - reminds me exactly of San Genaro or any Italian feast! I am still drooling over the amazing eggplant parm I got from here, it was gooey and fantastic and oozing with cheese (I did ask for extra), heavy on the eggplant, light on the breading, easily the best I have ever had. The mozzarella sticks were good too, and I love that their side salad is not just a few wilted pieces of iceberg lettuce, but some good veggies to complete the meal. Okay, had a craving for grandma pizza and Luigi's, near me, was closed. So I looked at Yelp to see alternatives. Their grandma is excellent... and if you heat it up for just a bit, it's even better. My daughter concurs. We may order one with broccoli ravi tonight. Like all other pies, (perhaps brick oven may be an exception) crust is much better when you reheat them. I consider myself old school when it comes to pizza. I don't appreciate wood, coal or any other kind of oven other then your standard NYC pizza oven. I don't go to a pizza place for garlic knots or when in NYC, Sicilian pizza...I go for thin crust pizza. That's what this place offers and it does it very well. Great customer service & great eggplant parm sandwiches. My hubby & I order them & have always been happy-plenty of cheese, great lightly toasted bread & eggplant that's not too breaded or greasy. A few weeks ago when my mom was visiting i ordered 3 of them. Thought I'd introduce her to a taste of heaven. The sandwiches were different, light on the cheese, cheese not thoroughly melted, light on the sauce, bread was barely toasted. It didn't seem like they came from La Bruschetta. After I added sauce and cheese myself & reheated them in the toaster oven, they were ok. Now, here is why I still LOVE their eggplant parm sandwiches...I called them & asked to speak to an owner or manager. Phillip (not sure if he is an owner or manager) got on the phone & I told him how much I love the sandwiches but was very disappointed with my last last order. He was very apologetic and immediately offered to send three more over. I said I just ate, but thanks and he said to call back any time and he would send three over and assured me they would be done the way I'm used to. 2 weeks later, I had a friend over so I called Phillip & said my name & that I would like to have those 3 sandwiches now (even asked if one could be chicken parm. for my friend), he said sure and sent over 3 excellent comp. parm sandwiches. Can't stop eating my first pie from La Bruschetta! Online order was delivered promptly. I'm not a "purist," so I get sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms; all were generously and evenly distributed overall so every slice gets its share of toppings...sign of a carefully made pie. The crust is just right, tasty, not too thick and both crunchy and chewy at the same time. I usually order well-baked, and it was.
