Doesn't it sound like the name of a 1970's TV detective show about undercover aerobics instructors starring Suzanne Somers and the Landers sisters? "FREEZE! Drop your weapons, buster! We're LA Buns!" But no such luck as it was a burger joint in the heart of WeHo. In a particularly weak moment after gazing at all the hardbodies on the floats during WeHo Pride, Jamie W. and I decided to indulge. No, not that way. Both of us ordered the $7.89 Chili Cheese Burger (photo: https://bit.ly/443FrH8), but we showed some modesty and shared the $4.89 French Fries (photo: https://bit.ly/3OnPhh6). We even had our limits. The burgers were more Sloppy Joe style than truly satisfying, but does it matter when the eye candy provided all the calories we could handle? OK, that sounded like we helped ourselves to... No, we just ate meat and carbs. That still didn't sound right, did it? FOOD - 3 stars...sloppy chili cheeseburgers if that floats your boat AMBIANCE - 3 stars...one of those roadside places with just outdoor seating SERVICE - 3 stars...fast and unmemorable TOTAL - 3 stars..."you're under arrest...we're LA Buns!" The food here was absolutely bomb. I enjoyed myself a lot in here with my friend. We ordered 2 sodas, 1 burger, 1 taco plate, 1 side of fries. Total is like $32. Definitely enough food to take home. However, when I asked for utensils, the chef seems unhappy with me. Other than that, great experience.

    Chorizo burrito. My fav

Love LA Buns! I get a kick in my step when I know I'm picking up my fav chorizo burrito from LA Buns. The egg to chorizo is on point: one ingredient doesn't overpower the other. The fries are made to order. Delish! Affordable prices and friendly helpful staff. A+

Great local go-to. Recently increased prices and reduced hours but they are still in business and an affordable local option.

Great place to grab a bite after a night out with friends. I have to admit that I was a tipsy when I ordered a burrito from here one night. The Burrito was delicious and I also had a side of chips with salsa. My friends had the tacos and they said it was really good too. I actually want to come back and try the food when I'm completely sober lol. Then I'll really know if it's as good as I remember. The downside is that it's CASH ONLY...which loses a star. I'm NOT a fan of Cash Only places.....It's 2017!!! It's in very convenient location on Santa Monica Blvd. I'm guessing that a majority of their customers are from the Santa Palm Car Wash. Great way to wait for your car while it's being washed. Parking is street metered for the most part. Not sure if there are any areas without restrictions for parking. I'll definitely be giving this place another shot. More photos to come!

This one is actually in WeHo east of La Cienega in kind of an upmarket strip mall. It was just strolling distance from our hotel, so it was the ideal spot for a casual dinner before venturing onto Santa Monica Blvd for the PRIDE festivities. We actually had the foresight to make a reservation and were initially seated inside next to the bar where a couple of loud sluggos were holding court. To his immense credit, the host noticed the noise and asked if we would prefer a quieter seat in the patio. This was LA, so hell yeah. We were grateful. The menu has many delectable specialties, though we were feeling conscientious and focused on their salads. Jamie ordered the $24 Mexican Chopped Salad, a robust mix of grilled chicken, chopped romaine and arugula, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, radishes, avocado, and queso fresco, drizzled with lemon vinaigrette (Photo 9). It was a Cal-Mex delight. I went with the $25 Oaxaca Cactus Salad with grilled shrimp, fresh cactus, diced tomatoes, red onions, jalapenos, cilantro, and queso fresco. It was liberally mixed with tomatillo dressing (Photo 8). The cactus provided a nice, crunchy texture. We also shared the $10 Grilled Seasonal Veggies, a tasty mix of carrots, zucchini, and summer squash (Photo 7). But don't be too impressed by our healthy choices because we went for the $12 Mexican Bunuelos (Photo 10). Crispy, thin fritters topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. For our appetizer, we ordered the nachos, and I can honestly say they were the best nachos I've ever had. Every bite was loaded with flavor, and they disappeared so fast. For tacos, I tried the shrimp, birria, and asada tacos. The shrimp tacos were my favorite! Armand was the doorman and let us know of this and that's when we were in a predicament. He checked with the hosts to see if they had any availability to seat us but they unfortunately did not. He then told us the next available reservation was 9:45... Welp we're already here, so might as well put us down. He was very nice and helpful at the door when we initially got there and when we were leaving. We went to the bar, as that's self seating and available for anyone, but it's a little small. There's maybe 8 seats inside and 10 seats outside ? For around 30 min it was full with no available seats but once we found 2 seats Willy came by and introduced himself. He was great, from his service to his drink recommendations. I tried their espresso drink; divine intervention, and it wasn't bad. A different type of espresso and it came with churros, which I decided to dip into the drink, lol. I liked it. A solid 7/10. My friend got their spiritual, not religious drink. It had cucumber, pineapple, vodka and a whole lotta other syrups but it was surprisingly good. I couldn't even taste how there was a bunch of juices. My friend loved it. After about 45 min of us chilling at the bar with Willy I decided to check if there had been any changes to our res time and shockingly the girls told me they had a table ready so if we wanted to get sat now we could. I was like YES! Went back to the bar, closed out and got taken to our table. Liza greeted us right away, she was very sweet and knew the menu very well. I ordered their prime filet and this was delicious. The steak was literally melting in my mouth. When I first saw the steak I thought it was small but it was more than enough. Everything, from the seasoning to the side sauce and toppings was exquisite!! My friend got their shrimp tacos and said it was ok. Nothing to be excited about. She wouldn't order them again. After dinner I decided to try their late bloomer. Put the order in and then a good 10 min went by and my drink never showed up. I normally don't bother the workers because there are so many reasons why a drink is taking awhile, but I asked someone if they could check on it. A couple minutes later a manager shows up with the drink and sincerely apologizes. I was totally fine with it but he was so sorry about the timing that he took it off our bill. That was so nice of him, especially because I wasn't expecting that. He was bald, wore glasses and was wearing a dark navy suit with jeans. All in all we had a wonderful time at casa Madera, from the elegance of the restaurant to the delicious food and wonderful service. We will be back!

Came here with a group of friends. Made a reservation and were seated right away. The chips and…read moreguacamole were really good. I ordered the guava margarita and it was just okay. I should've stuck with a strawberry margarita, you really can't go wrong there. For dinner, I had the chicken flautas. They were alright. The chicken lacked flavor, which made the dish a bit bland overall. The beans were seasoned well and the rice was good too, but the portion was pretty small. The ambiance was nice! Dimly lit and a bit on the smaller side, but it filled up quickly on a Saturday night. It definitely has a fun, lively vibe and the music was great. I'd come back and give it another try.

Really brings me no pleasure to do this, but this is my forth visit and it was such a step down…read morefrom the previous visits. End of the day, a $68 bill pre-tip for a less than genrous plate of ($16??) guac and 4 very small tacos with no rice or beans included and one draft Modelo is just unacceptable. The tacos were adequate, but unspectacular. 'Filet mignon' tacos were a single unchopped hunk of meat well flavored but so bare and small for 2x $22. The guac was too refrigerated, with not fully ripened avocado that resulted in an overly sweet taste and slightly firm texture that was unpleasant. Chips were also just not very good, and also not as far as I could tell complimentary. Service gets high marks for speed and efficiency, but felt super impersonal. Example, a server asked us how everything was while we were clearly just sitting there, not having tasted any of it waiting for some limes to arrive at the table. Just asked the question without surveying at all, and it was very performative and not genuine. Which is fine. I'm not at all mad at the servers, tough job but worth noting when noting the tip % options on the POS. End of the day I don't know if I'll be back or not. Everybody has an off day. But just about every aspect was less than stellar(draft beer was excellent) especially compared to three previous excellent visits. It's getting harder to justify going out for dinner, and at these prices, I would hope they could do a little better.
