Really enjoyed this spot. The rooftop atmosphere is beautiful and the whole place has such a good vibe. Everything we ordered was really good. We had the brazillian bread, black cod, yellowtail hamachi, spicy tuna crispy rice, a couple of sushi rolls, and lychee martinis. The black cod was definitely the standout for me. It literally melts in your mouth and was my favorite dish of the night. The one thing I did notice was that the service felt a little rushed. A lot of our food came out at once, and it felt like our table was being cleared quite often. My thoughts are that the rooftop is so popular they want to make sure everyone gets to enjoy their time there, which makes sense, it's definitely a hot spot. Do not come here without a reservation, even if the hostess downstairs tells you they can accommodate you. We waited almost an hour and a half at the bar and were never seated. We eventually gave up and went to Uchi, which is only about half a mile away, and were seated right away. I've been here a couple of times, and the food is honestly pretty average for the hype. It's a fairly new spot in WeHo and definitely has that trendy social-media vibe! lots of influencers taking photos of their food and creating content. Valet is $20, and street parking can be difficult to find. Overall, I personally wouldn't wait even 20 minutes to eat here. I asked to be seated in the middle but was told we couldn't be seated up there as it was for larger parties but there were parties of 2 sitting up there. Our waitress was very attentive. Cocktails (5/5): lychee cooler so good we felt like we were transported to an island. My partner said its her new fave cocktail. I got a mango vodka one and it was good as well. Came here for a girl's night, and what a perfect ambiance just for that. It has a vibrant lively atmosphere with it's colorful umbrella type structures surrounding this outdoor venue. The center is a sunken dining area, with the sides and back area elevated, so its multilevel environment gives the place even more character and movement. 11/10 on ambiance. The 5 of us were seated at a half circle booth. The open kitchen was right behind us, which was a treat, as you can view the chefs cooking the dishes along with the sushi chefs making their creations. The servers seem to work as a team, as multiple people were helping us throughout the night, with one main person as our head server. Our table was cleaned and cleared as we ate, which I appreciated, but at the same time, also made us feel a bit rushed. I understand that it was a busy night, so they probably wanted us in and out. But just pointing this out as a caution, in case you're wanting to linger... maybe order as you eat to slow down the pace. We had ordered everything at once, and it came extremely fast. I'd give the service 8.5/10. I enjoyed the food, as it was a bit different than your typical sushi place, since it's a Japanese and Peruvian inspired restaurant. Do you want the good news or the bad news first? The bad news is that there was no central air, so it was very hot and there was only standing fans available for circulation and service was very slow. The good news is that the aesthetics, food and drinks were all amazing. Parking is $21.74 with valet. They offer a great deal for bunch which is $65 for 5 courses. Plus they have a live Dj playing house music with a sprinkle of today's hits. Our waiter Spiro was nice but wasn't the most attentive and took over 10 minutes to greet us once we were seated. I had dinner 2 different times so my photos is a combo of both. There's valet parking $20 & also usually metered parking on Melose (1 block south) and Santa Monica as well. The drinks was pretty but most of them came with a huge block of ice. But overall the drinks were decent. If you come for early dinner, it can get pretty sunny, but then it can also cool down. The first time I went with a bigger group, they handed out blankets after the sunset. The service was great both times with multiple servers and team members coming around often. Food wise, do not get the Peruvian corn! Those huge corn kernels and no taste what so ever. The green salad is a pile of lettuce and some other items but the dressing was good. But every thing was good, it tasted fresh but my favorites were: Kobe TAQUITOS. Usually they are rolls, but this was in a mini taco shell. Still good! Tiger Maki for the roll was unique and flavorful. Portuguese bread was great, I added a bump of caviar, and it went so well with the truffle butter. Grilled Chicken Thigh was also decent and had a nice char. Plantain chips: absolutely loved these The nigiri was presented beautifully! The mochi for dessert was also delicious and fabulous. The mushroom large plate had a good amount of truffles in it. I didn't taste it but someone next to me ordered it and I could smell it. This place is hip and cool, and people dress up to come here. One of my gfs and I came for their DineLA menu selection and was pleasantly surprised with the portions and selections they included. The dineLA option came out to about ~$75/pp including tips for brunch and it stuffed us and we were able to take plenty left overs to go as well. Everything came out very quickly as well! There were 2 starters: cheese balls and string bean tempura (which were bomb!!) The appetizers were ceviche, salmon/tuna/yellow tail sushi roll, and Wagyu gyozas! Our mains came out and we were stuffed by then but there were miso cods on skewer sticks as well as chicken. Lastly, it also came with a banana chocolate dessert. Probably the hippest and trendiest sushi spot I've been to in a long time. Nothing advertises West Hollywood more than a beautiful rooftop combined with beats and culinary eye candy. The restaurant was packed and had such a lively energy, which honestly surprised me for a weeknight. The DJ was playing an amazing mix of music, which really added to the atmosphere. A special shoutout to Kenneth Michael, our bartender, who made one of the best dirty martinis I've had! He was incredibly personable, attentive, and had such a great attitude. Really, really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, the reputation about the wait and service was pretty accurate. We had an 8:45pm reservation and weren't seated until around 9:30pm. They host told us to wait by the overly crowded bar and that they'd come get us, but as someone who isn't drinking, standing around a crowded bar for almost an hour when you have a reservation was pretty annoying. The decor and atmosphere are easily 10/10. I loved the outdoor vibe and the DJ. The music was at the perfect volume, fun and lively, but you could still have an actual conversation. The food was good, but not amazing. The cod was by far my favorite, along with the yellowtail tacos. The ceviche was different and really tasty, and I loved that they gave each of us a little bowl and spoon to enjoy it. The rolls were just okay, but the desserts were amazing. I also really enjoyed the coconut mocktail, and my friends loved their cocktails. Unfortunately, the bar was extremely slow. Our drinks took about 30 minutes to arrive, which was frustrating on top of already waiting so long for our table. The saving grace of the entire experience was our server, Alex. He was AMAZING. His communication, recommendations, and attentiveness completely changed the experience. He constantly checked on our drinks and kept us updated. If it weren't for him, I honestly would have given this place 2 stars. We snagged a slightly early dinner time and while it was quite busy by the time we left, we didn't think it had been too loud while we ate and chatted. We ordered the Pão de Queijo - delicious cheese bread, do not miss! The Kobe Gyoza with the kabocha puree was delicious, too. We also tried the Sea Bass Anticuchos which was a good portion of fish per skewer and the Seviche Classico which also came with plenty of fish and deliciously crunchy plantain chips for texture. I have many mixed feelings about this restaurant and I hesitate to leave any negative comments. However, they do have some operational issues to work through. I realize they are new and well give them the benefit of the doubt that they will improve soon. I was there recently with a group of friends celebrating a special occasion. There were about 7 to 8 people in our table. 1st of all, I have to say that the rooftop location and the decor choices are absolutely stunning. When I walked in, I almost gasped and really felt like I was transported to some tropical vacation. Open air is definitely the way to go in LA where weather is pleasant year-round. The day tonight transition of the restaurant was stunning. I am not normally a fan of fusion food, but the Brazilian Japanese combination sounded quite interesting. The dishes are meant to be family style yet nobody wanted to do family style in the table I was in. It was a little frustrating since I had to order much more than I would normally eat for myself, and that subsequently drove the prices up. The server did a great job in recommending dishes and explaining that they are meant to be shared. The Lychee Cooler cocktail was such a great summer choice. It's slightly on the sweet side, but goes with the drink and it had a fresh lychee garnish. I felt like I was in a high-end tiki bar. Presentation was gorgeous. The main problem with the food was that a couple of appetizers came out. I was happy they were coursing the meal. However, two people in our table never received their entrées. We were there a good 3 1/2 hours by the time the whole meal was served, and it was a little excessive to me. I was getting restless and just wanting to leave about halfway through. When it was brought to their attention that our food didn't arrive, I think the normal thing to do was to bring it out and also comp the dishes. They just brought it out and said "it's already made so do you want it?" When the offer was declined, they brought out a different sushi dish and did comp it however, it was not what had been ordered. I tasted a bite of it and really was not impressed. I would never have been satisfied. Had I ordered something like that. The good part was the pao de queso (cheese bread) was perfection by itself, but they served it with a sweet truffle butter that just took it up a few notches. I tasted a couple of the mushroom dishes that others ordered, and it tasted fantastic. I also got the seafood stew bowl (Moqueca Mista), which clearly was meant to be shared. The flavor was good and I appreciated that chimichurri rice. Unfortunately, all my shellfish were full of sand and overall the dish was very heavy. I didn't enjoy it that much. I definitely found the Brazilian dishes, more interesting and tasty. Sadly, I was not thrilled with the service and food. I would give it another chance when they settle in and improve service but it is not on the top of my list. I would most likely return to the bar for some drinks and light appetizers. Okay, where do I start... The ambiance is definitely the highlight. It's a fun atmosphere and not something you come across often in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't live up to the setting. We were seated directly next to a speaker, and the music was so loud that we often couldn't hear the person sitting next to us. The playlist was great, but the volume made it feel more like a nightclub than a restaurant. As for the service, we had two servers. The first took our order and then disappeared, and a second server took over for the rest of the evening. She was kind, but the attention to detail was lacking. One member of our party has a severe peanut allergy, and it took asking six different staff members before anyone could tell us whether a dessert contained peanuts. That level of uncertainty regarding a serious food allergy was concerning. The most frustrating part of the evening came when the bill arrived. We were incorrectly charged $12 for a bowl of ginger, $18 for a small cup of ponzu, a magnum bottle of wine when we had only ordered the standard-sized bottle, and still water even though all nine of us drank tap water. When you're spending nearly $700 on dinner, charging extra for a small bowl of ginger and a cup of ponzu feels unreasonable, especially when no one mentioned there would be an additional charge. While the manager ultimately removed those charges, there was little acknowledgment or apology. Instead, we were simply told that the charge only applies when you ask for "extra extra." We had a small bowl to share among nine people, which hardly seems excessive. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Between the billing errors, lack of allergy awareness, and inattentive service, the overall experience didn't match the restaurant's atmosphere or price point. read more

At first glance, they looked delightful and the steak was very easy to cut in to. After a few bites I had a bite of steak that tasted absolutely RANCID. Like legitimately tasted expired. After that I stopped eating because I was so disgusted. My girlfriend felt the same, the meat quality was horrible. The vibe of the restaurant was nice but the music was so loud I could barely talk to my friends. Our server was super friendly but the service itself was so slow. We finished eating and our check didn't come out for another 35 minutes. This is one of those places that wows you with their ambiance but the food doesn't live up to the hype. We finally ordered drinks and appetizers. My wife received her drink, but the waiter forgot mine. And that pretty much set the tone for the entire night. He never came back to check on us, and we had to flag someone down every time we needed anything. When you're spending around $400 for a meal, the service should be exceptional. Unfortunately, the service here was a joke. The sushi was just okay very mid and nothing particularly special. The restaurant itself looks great and the music is good, but that's about where the positives end. Some of the food was rather mid or else quite salty - like the yellowtail ceviche and miso soup - but we enjoyed the Torodito and Negihama. Nigiri was decent. We started with the edamame, Brazilian cheese bread, and rock shrimp tempura. And OMG... this bread was unreal. Warm, cheesy, soft in the middle, and honestly some of the best bread I've ever had. Next up was the yellowtail tiradito, and WOW. The flavors were so fresh and delicious, and it actually reminded me of a tom yum soup. Then came the sushi rolls, and these are definitely not your average sushi rolls. We tried the Asevichado, El Topo, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Tiger Maki, and every bite was packed with flavor. For the mains, we ordered the Churrasco Rio Grande, which comes with three different types of meat, along with the Chicken A La Brasa. Both dishes were incredible and perfect for sharing. And of course, we couldn't skip dessert. We ended the night with the burnt cheesecake and mochi, and they were the perfect sweet finish to our meal. Sushisamba Las Vegas, take notes! The West Hollywood location is absolute perfection. We visited for a friend's birthday brunch on a Sunday with a group of six. The brunch menu was $65 per person, and honestly, it offers plenty of food to share. We got a little carried away and ordered well beyond the brunch menu, plus cocktails and premium sake, so our bill ended up being over $1,200 but that was entirely because we overindulged. Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and delicious. The Brazilian cheese bread balls practically melted in your mouth, especially with the butter they serve alongside them. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was outstanding, the ceviche was perfection, and every entrée we ordered from the brunch menu exceeded expectations. We also ordered a premium bottle of sake that the rest of the group thoroughly enjoyed. The cocktail menu was equally impressive, with great options ranging from Palomas and Bloody Marys to an extensive sake selection. What truly sets this location apart is the ambiance. It's easily one of the best rooftop dining experiences in Los Angeles. I've always felt LA should have more rooftop restaurants, and Sushisamba delivers everything you'd want from one. The views, energy, and atmosphere are unmatched. The live DJ was the icing on the cake and elevated the entire experience. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and never rushed us. We were given a generous 2 1/2 hours to enjoy our meal, which made the celebration feel relaxed and special. Valet parking is conveniently available right in front for $20. If you're looking for amazing food, great drinks, incredible vibes, and one of the best rooftop experiences in LA, Sushisamba West Hollywood is absolutely worth a visit. One note I would make to management is that the seating felt low where we were seated in the circular booths. An interior designer friend who was in our group measured and both the table and seating were standard size, but I think that because the cushions were soft causing you to sink in an inch or two, the table felt high. read more

Okay wait because I actually have mixed feelings about Sushi Samba. First of all, the place itself is BEAUTIFUL. Super trendy, super vibey, definitely one of those spots you dress up for. The female employees at the front were a littleeee stuck up honestly, but whatevas lol. Now our waiter Nick? AMAZING. Seriously one of the best servers I've had in a long time. Professional, attentive, understanding, and just handled everything so gracefully. The food overall was good... BUTTTT I made the mistake of ordering the steak at a sushi spot. And before you judge me, I was SO excited for it okay?? Huge mistake. The second that plate came out... omg. The smell alone literally made me nauseous. It had such a strong gamey smell/taste that I physically had to push the plate away from me. I felt SO bad asking Nick to take it back because this was genuinely my first time ever sending food back at any restaurant ever. CRYING EMOJI. But Nick handled it beautifully and made me feel way less awkward about it. BUT honestly, once we sat down, the service was incredible. They constantly changed out our plates, paid attention to every little detail, and everyone was so attentive. At one point I quietly asked for a paper napkin because I needed to spit out my gum lol. The sweet bus boy immediately asked, "For your gum?" and when I nodded yes out of embarrassment, he literally stood there waiting so he could take the napkin away immediately after. The place is decent, but very overpriced. Of five dishes, we loved two of them, and would probably pass on the others. The drinks were good - well balanced, didn't smack you in the face with alcohol but still got you feeling bubbly. Here's the highlights: - seviche classico - the leche de tigre here was practically drinkable. Very bright, citrusy, tangy, and satisfying. This was really yummy. - Samba la roll - really delicious. just truly so yummy, loved the golden eye snapper on the top and the passion fruit sanbaizu. another citrusy, fresh, delicious bite. The meh: - kari kari (spicy tuna crispy rice): the joy of spicy tuna crispy rice is the cold fish, hot rice, and satisfying crunch. all the marks were missed here. the temperature of the fish was raised too high by the rice (around room temp) and the texture was a uniform soft throughout. disappointing for sure. - spicy yellowtail taquitos: not altogether bad, but for $12 EACH it was nowhere near worth it. the radishes were tasty, the wonton was crispy, the yellowtail was fresh. if you got it like that, go for it. but it wasn't anything special and wasn't a $12 bite. I also did not think the salsa that accompanied it went well with the flavors. too smoky and obscured the freshness of the ingredients. in hindsight, I wouldve much rather gotten some nigiri instead! - ribeye anticuchos: tough and disappointing. I'm writing this review late, and I actually can't pull a taste memory clearly enough to describe it, if that's any indication. the peruvian corn was nice, especially added to the remainder of the seviche. At $140 each, not impressive. The price tag largely comes from the beautiful restaurant itself and the ambiance of the weho rooftop - unfortunately, my friend and I were seated in a little nook out of the main dining area. cozy, but diminished the whole experience. i'm not saying that sitting in the middle of the action would've nullified the sticker shock, but you also don't get a discount for getting sat in a hallway. the service was knowledgeable, friendly, professional. we got checked on MANY times by many different people. one could argue too attentive, but I didn't mind. Would I come back? Maybe for a cocktail and one of the good dishes, with a dinner reservation somewhere else. read more

Visiting this rooftop felt like a beautiful midsummer night's dream. The venue perfectly blends a vibrant Miami vibe with stunning West Hollywood views and sunset. Their menu is truly unique, offering a fusion of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisine, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. It was my first time trying the Moqueca Mista (a Brazilian seafood stew), and it was an absolute highlight! The Samba Roll and the Sea Bass were also incredibly well-executed and flavorful. Sushisamba is fairly new, but you'd never know it because our server Marco did an amazing job taking care of our table. From the moment you take the elevator up to the rooftop, the ambiance completely transports you--the beautiful outdoor seating gives major European vibes. This was the perfect place to take pictures for girls night dinner! The food presentation across the board was beautiful. Here is the honest breakdown of our spread: The Showstoppers: Churrasco Rio Grande (10/10): The absolute table favorite. It came out with a perfect crust, a flawless medium-rare cook, and was so incredibly juicy it melted in our mouths. The steak was so tasty that I don't even remember what the chorizo on top tasted like! Crispy Yellowtail Taquitos (9/10): My personal favorite. Packed with fresh fish and a perfect balance of citrus and smoky sauce. Pão de Queijo: Light, airy, cheesy, and perfectly chewy. What blew us away was the truffle honey butter on the side--that hint of sweetness is a game-changer. Samba Lima Roll: Fresh fish, and the passionfruit sauce was a really delicious, unique touch. The Skips: Kari Kari: Very basic and a pretty small portion. The rice wasn't crispy enough, leaving the whole bite a bit mushy and one-dimensional. Salmon Seviche: A bit disappointing. The marinade was lost, and it just tasted like average salmon sashimi. I'd skip this one. Mushroom Arroz Chaufa: This missed the mark for me. The truffle was so overpowering you couldn't taste the mushrooms. It was incredibly heavy, rich, and lacked texture since both the mushrooms and quinoa rice are soft. It really needed a crunchy element, and it was the only dish we left behind.
