lunch special pupusa corn tamal steak
    Gloria X.

The people here are very nice. You feel right at home. I got the lunch special which was extremely affordable - where else can you get steak for less than $20? The beef was very tasty, as was the corn tamal! The pupusa was supposed to be pork but the filling kind of tasted like nothing. The texture of the pupusa was great tho!

This is my most valuable find of the Week. Maybe even of the Month. Now don't get me wrong, this place isn't fancy, high class nor expensive but it sure is clean, casual, inexpensive and delicious. They have an assortment of foods ranging from their signature pupusas, tamales, tacos and meat and vegetable combos. They also offer fresh juices and other beverages. There really is something for everyone. The decor is simple but solid. There are about 10 tables for dining in, and what used to be an outdoor eating area could hold plenty more. I'm unsure if the outdoor seating is still in use. The bathrooms are tiny but very clean and stocked as is the rest of the place. They recently added a bar area which is separate from the restaurant so be sure to check out the festivities in the evenings and report back. Nice spot for lunch or if you're looking to try new cuisine.

El Salvadoran combo - my goto w steak, papuda, and sweet corn tamale

This hole in the wall el Salvadoreña place offers papusas, combo plates and breakfasts. One of my go tos is the el Salvadoreña combo with steak, a chicken Papusa and a sweet corn tamale for $12. It feels family run and service is carribean style relaxed. Beer happy hour is around $5. Close to the 191 train in wash heights.

thank you to my dear friend, wanda , for taking me to try salvadorean food for the first timeit was LIFE CHANGING and while this was my first, it's definitely not going to be my last! i've always heard of pupusas but never had the chance to go prior to this visit, BUT IDK WHERE I WAS BC THESE WERE SO BOMB the restaurant itself was a quaint mom-and-pop store with the sweetest workers willing to give recommendations and accommodate our needswith a wide range of delicious salvadorean classics and surprisingly affordable prices, they truly give you a bang for your buck -- -- -- pictured: " 3 ingredient pupusa ($3.00 each) //filled with pork, cheese, and beans, each pupusa was a pocket of heaventhey also came with a slaw and salsa which gave each bite a refreshing touch! " grilled steak dinner plate ($16.00) // first off, the steak was seasoned to perfection and was huge given the priceit also came with a generous side salad, pico de gallo, and crispy plantains which were divine " yuca frita con chicharrón ($10.00) // this was my first time trying this AND I WAS SO SOLD‍the fried yuca reminded me of a potato wedge but lighter, airier, and slightly crumblier in the best way possible all with a crispy exterior! the chicharrón was also incredibly crispy and juicy making it so delicious! " horchata ($3.00) // unlike the mexican horchata i was used to with the primary notes of cinnamon and rice milk, this salvadorean horchata (horchata de morro) was very different in taste which I actually really enjoyed. using a different combination of spices and seeds from the morro fruit, the drink itself was nuttier and deep in flavor which i really loved! -- -- -- overall i truly loved my experience here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some amazing salvadorean food!

Pupusas are still very solid, here. Never had anything else, but don't have much of a reason, because I pretty much head here to get my pupusas fix. Very yummy. Get those with everything in it (the ones with pork, beans and cheese). Recommended.

    Beef Soup, Pupusas

First time trying Salvadoran food! I ordered their beef soup and a mixed pupusa (pork and cheese). Both were extremely flavorful. The environment was cozy and the restaurant was clean. Would definitely recommend and go again!

What do you say when your friends bring you pupusas from all the way uptown? "Thank you," of course. Who raised you anyway? What do you DO when your friends bring you pupusas from the Heights? You throw them in a pan, because they are a little bit cold (it's far from Brooklyn), and then you rejoice that you get to eat such an affordable, delicious snack. Pair it with the bag of vinegary slaw/salad (seriously, they give it to you in a plastic bag), and it's a solid meal. If you have to choose, cheese pupusa beats chicken pupusa in my very limited experience with La Cabana Salvadoreña.

Salvatoria Kitchen and Bar is a great option if you're looking for a sit-down spot for pupusas. I…read morewas pleasantly surprised that the pupusas were still reasonably priced for a full-service restaurant and bar, at around $4 each. They offer a good variety of fillings. My favorite was the jalapeño and cheese, which have a nice kick to them. The yuca frita was crispy but not oily, and made for a great appetizer before the pupusas. We came during happy hour and took advantage of the drink specials. The red sangria and margaritas were only $8 a glass and they were both strong and tasty, though I preferred the sangria slightly more. The music at Salvatoria was great and made for a nice atmosphere, with current Latino hits playing in the background. My only note, and it's minor, is that the curtido wasn't as good as I've had at other places. They do give you a good amount, but it lacked some of the crunch and acidity that a great curtido needs to balance out the pupusas. Overall, Salvatoria Kitchen and Bar delivers on food, value, and atmosphere. The bill for four pupusas, two drinks, and an order of yuca frita came out to just $45 before tip.

Another place i got to check off from my "must go" list. I…read morehad never had pupusas nor picadas and this was life changing on so many level!!! I was already kind of full but the entrees we got were also very delicious. I wish I knew how to cook fish or chicken that juicy but keeping the outside crunchy-crispy. 10/10 for all the food. Idk why but the music was so upbeat and it kept me feel rushed for some reason but that might be just me! Haha The service was great, the water kept getting filled and they were very attentive. Would definitely come back again!
