Everyone was super helpful and attentive at the cantina poolside. I ordered my food to go since I had to get some work done back in my room. I was also impressed when I asked if I can have grilled fish tacos vs breaded and deep fried and they were very accommodating. I got a strawberry salad and it was delicious with the candied walnuts and blueberries. I added chicken for protein. Plenty of searing and umbrellas for outdoor dining. It's super convenient to have food poolside. Tables and chairs were clean and the pool area had a nice vacation vibe. They lost a star for 4 stars only because of the price. $30 for a lunch salad was a bit much but other than that I was happy. read more

No: Smoky Bird skinny - not because I'm dieting but because I don't like very sweet things. It's ok. Probably meant to be quite sweet and would taste more like candy. It's supposed to be watermelon flavor, but don't taste any. It's pink though. Definitely get it with the tajin rim. No: Don't drink the water. Tastes like dirt. Okay: Two "street" tacos: gonna start with the caveat I got the veg options so def not traditional street tacos. That said, if you're gonna offer them, I expect them to be tasty. Single tortilla. At least it's corn. Roasted brussel sprouts (ok) and the vegan chorizo and potato (surprisingly bland). May be good if you want tacos with for little kids. The salsa is also mild. Service. Surprisingly slow. I had already eaten through one taco by the time I got my drink and the pool area was not busy. That said, the waitstaff are super personable. read more

Wow, this was sooo disappointing and overpriced. We had just landed in San Diego and our room wasn't ready (nor was it ready for a long, longggg time). We were starving and bit the bullet and got food at the pool restaurant. But let me back up... I'd been dreaming about San Diego fish tacos and I was so looking forward to them. When these tacos came out, I couldn't even eat them - the fish tasted rotten and the toppings were dismal. Honestly - it did not taste right. The nachos were plain and unappetizing. Prices were high. Service was good (I wouldn't say amazing), hence the 2 stars. Food would not score that high in my book. You'd be better off going anywhere else. We are still on-site and I definitely don't plan on eating at this hotel again (don't get me started on the 2 hour wait for breakfast room service this morning...). read more

The newly re-conceptualized La Cantina at the Loews Coronado Bay is nothing short of amazing! the new afternoon spot for fun, sun, tacos and margaritas! The soft opening was today and it was a treat to remember! Between the 3 of us, we ordered 10 tacos (which you can mix and match), elote, ceviche, shishito peppers and the chips, guac/salsa! Everything was fresh, bursting with flavor, oh and the trio salsas to add on the tacos were divine! There's nothing better than to kick back and relax on a gorgeous San Diego day! Nice atmosphere and extremely convenient if you're staying or boating at the Lowe's. It's so nice not to deal with parking and crowds in Nado. We stayed for a week and ate here several times. I got a carne asada mulita- which was a mediocre, if that, quesadilla with sliced onions, carne asada and a little bit of cheese on a flour tortilla. It was awful. My friend got chicken strips which were cold, hard and also awful. Step up your game La Cantina. I'd suggest only getting (overpriced) drinks here if you're stopping by. read more

If you're staying at the Loews Resort, stop out in the pool area for some good food! Whether you are sunning around the pool or sitting on the lounge sofas, they will bring you food and drinks of your liking. The service here was great. They would always check on us. Food was served quickly as well as our drinks! Our first night we tried the carnitas nachos. The chips are made there in house. Loved how fresh and delicious these were! I could have just snacked on those chips all night. The carnitas had such a great flavor. It was so tender and perfectly spread over the nachos. Since it also had a lot of cheese and guacamole, I was in heaven. The next day as we were laying out by the pool, I figured only drinking wasn't a good idea. We split the carnitas quesadilla. This was filled with a lot of meat and cheese. The guac and pico are served on the side. The carnitas once again had a great flavor. I was happy with both food choices. Our experience was good overall and would absolutely come back. read more

Awesome poolside cocktails.... strawberry Fields Forever! That cocktail menu is better than anything inside the Loews Resort. And the guacamole with salsa and perfect chips were incredible. For on property hotel food this isn't a bad option. Food and drink are priced reasonably considering its poolside service. The food isn't awesome, but it isn't bad... Just don't expect anything amazing, other than the service. The staff are very helpful and quick to offer menu and drink suggestions. read more

My family stayed at the Loews Hotel for five days. Not only was the hotel overall great, but La Cantina was amazing. It's a pool bar that serves delicious food and cocktails. Whether you get service at your pool lounge or at the convenient tables, you will be happy and well taken care of. We had drinks, tacos, salads, and the nachos. The nachos were INSANE and quite honestly the best I've ever had (and we love nachos). The kids ordered from the kid's menu and their fries and chicken tenders/ grilled cheese were so good (and so generously sized) they saved them to eat later. Overall the convenience, the service, the food, the drinks, and the venue contributed to make this one of the best places we ate on our family's vacation. read more

While staying here, I wanted to get a quick lunch with the kids. The street tacos were a happy hour special of $3 per taco, rather than $12 for 3 with a side. I went for the regular priced tacos, 2 barbacoa one chicken, with fries. They were good, not amazing but good. The chicken was better. The fries were delicious. The kids had a hot dog with a side of fruit each, $9. The hot dog was really big. I think it would be enough for an adult or split between my kids. That was pretty good too. It's pricey for what it is, but that's to be expected on a resort. All the food is all pretty lame on Coronado, but this is one of the better meals I've had here. read more
