Let's face it: you have limited dining options. At this location it's all Hotel Del. So this place has the great beach location: see the background of my taco pic. The ordering and beer shack is made to look appropriately rustic and the sign post is appropriately thematic, see my pics. As you can see from my pic I was lucky enough to be there at a slow time. My canned beer came out in so-so time. But the staff was somewhat harried and short tempered. I ordered my fish taco, and I didn't realize it was made and had to be picked up at a different shack - which is around the corner from where I placed my order. So they had to tell me twice (I didn't see the small white sign down the alley: so you don't get snapped at I have a pic of where the food is prepped and picked up.) There were 2 taco orders ahead of mine, yet it took 15 minutes to serve my taco. I'm glad I waited there - they yell your name at the alley, I'm not sure it could be heard at the beach and over the live music. Please take a look at my $8.50 fish taco. While there was a plentiful amount of fish, the seasoning was incredibly salty. Also the fish was tough. I did liked the guac on top and rest the was fresh. read more

So I'm just going to keep it real This is a CUTE take out taco shack with a great view. You are basically paying to eat your food at the beach Super over priced and the food is mediocre at best if that. Service was lacking. The cashier was rude and obnoxious I paid $70 for 4 tacos one beer and a virgin strawberry daiquiri. When your tacos are ready they holler out your name for you to go get your food No waiter service. No salsa bar, tacos do not have any authentic standard condiments like cilantro and or onion Honestly you are better off going to a food truck and get some REAL tacos for $2.50 each and feel good about helping a small business read more

We went during our Covid-versary celebration! Decided to drive to San Diego for a road trip! First off this is located inside the Hotel Del Coronado which is a beautiful place even just to walk around, so that's what we basically did... There was a line when we got there but come to find out the line was moving pretty fast so we decided to fall in line. You scan the menu on your phone from the sign they had so at least you can decide what you want while we wait in line. The tacos are pretty good, we got the shrimp taco. We also got the double sesh drink served in a pineapple and it was gorgeous! I guess they made too much so they gave us the rest in cups! So that was cool, we finished our pineapple and took our 2 extra drinks and walked around the beautiful campus of the hotel! I would come back here for sure! read more

This place is probably one of the best kept secret spots on the coast. Its right on the boardwalk in front of hotel Del. They recently renamed this place the beach shack and it litteraly is a shack they have a tiny bar seating area but more seating is available across the walk right on the beach. You cant beat the location to sit down and enjoy a beverage or 2. Martin was pouring some good drinks and the tacos were on point. It wasnt cheep but you cant put a price on that sunset location. We had a great time people watching ,eating and sipping on whiskey. Ohh its a full bar with some local breweries on tap so thats nice.They dont have set hours but they do close when the sun goes down, so plan on arrival well before sundown and you will be just fine.I will be coming back for sure very soon. read more

This is an awesome little spot in a great location. The drink selection is plentiful, amazing and everything is flavorful!! The taco selection is slim but we loved the carne asada tacos, full of flavor and spice. The was very busy for a Saturday but the service was friendly and it is worth the wait. read more

Way overpriced for a little shack on the beach when you can bring your own food and sit in the same spot for much cheaper. We got one beer ($10), one small margarita ($20) and two SMALL tacos and the bill was $45 before tip. There is no waiters or waitresses. The Margarita was fine but nothing special. The tacos were also good but just good. Not great and definitely not worth the price but I guess the location is pretty good. I recommend just bringing your own food and sitting in the beach chairs or on a towel next to the shack. read more

This pretty adorable beach shack caught our attention as we rode our bikes along the beach. It didn't take much convincing for us to screech to a halt and sit along the beach. I ordered each type of taco they had: mushroom, fish, shrimp, and carne asada. I also got two virgin margs. It was a $50 snack and I would say the price wasn't worth the fare, but the food *was* pretty good. The fish was kind of bland and could use with some seasoning itself, but everything else was yummy. I really enjoyed the shrimp and carne asada! We probably wouldn't eat here again due to the ticket price. read more

This is a great place for a mid afternoon snack and a glass of wine or beer by the ocean. Fun location at the Hotel Del, out on the beach, watching the waves come in. The bartender named Martin was very rude and unprofessional, yelled at paying customers to step back and put mask over nose.. and proceeded to say "can you not read the sign and step back and fully put your mask on" ridiculous. Short guy with white shirt on. I was here last weekend as well and the weekend before and he did not seem like he wanted to serve us while displaying a bad attitude. I will not be buying drinks from this establishment again. Very unprofessional. I hope the owner instills some good characteristics in this individual. read more

Had the carne Tacos, the meat and texture was really good. The vibe is good. The beer is good. One suggestion, if you are going to have really good tacos,,,,,, think about having good green or red chili avail for the food, not tapatio. Go all the way and you will be unstoppable. Long time Coronado resident and Hotel Del goer. We have frequented for holidays and celebrations for years. My wife and I live to leave our kids with my parents and bike over for drinks or food and enjoy the beach. The tacos at the shack are great, no complaints. The drinks, also great, pricey but you're on the beach and it makes sense. This stellar review was for the Manager herself I spoke to after our experience who was awesome and professional in addressing the below issues: The real problem I have experienced here at the Shack (not any other department at the Del) numerous times are the pompous, arrogant, entitled bar tenders. This goes for the deck bar too before they demolished it (same guys pretty much). Not all of them, as some are there doing their job keeping customer focus and being friendly while a couple in particular are seriously off. God forbid you the paying customer orders a drink incorrectly or mispronounce a drink name, they let you have it! One guy belittled my wife, raised his voice at her, and publicly shamed her for ordering a skinny margarita but added Grand Marnier (thereby not making it a skinny margarita). Ordering it that was we have found to be best in avoiding an ingredient we don't like which the skinny doesn't contain but the Cadillac or regular does. Many other bar tenders have no issue and let the customer order what they want but this guy wanted to teach my wife a lesson after we had just paid a lot of money to stay there for our anniversary. I also noticed this guy's attitude to a Latina woman with broken English ordering a beer they didn't have. You'd have thought she called him a bad name by the way he reacted toward her for that simple inquiry. She ended up getting a different beer, whew! I did call in after to explain and the Manager was exceptional and assured us that particular bar tender (though there is one other main guy with combed hair, skinny, with an annoying face who also suffers like the other guy) would be addressed. If I see him again I'll be sure to ask how things have been since changing his attitude! All that being said, stand up for yourself as we are paying a lot for drinks so those guys have a place to work and they forget to treat customers with respect too often. read more

Perfect location with the view of Point Loma and the pacific ocean. They offer shrimp, fish, and carne asada tacos. Martin was pouring awesome drinks! They literally close at sunset, so order your drinks right before the sun goes down because it happens in a flash! There was also live music with a guy playing great music that everyone can enjoy. It's alright if it wasn't $70 with tip for 2 regular drinks and 3 tacos - for same prices you can go to a way nicer place. I think his name was Steven (I overheard it). When I inquired about a drink he was annoyed and just pointed to the menu. I'm a bartender myself and would never speak to my guests with this tone.
