    "Double sesh"
    Audrey S.

We went during our Covid-versary celebration! Decided to drive to San Diego for a road trip! First off this is located inside the Hotel Del Coronado which is a beautiful place even just to walk around, so that's what we basically did... There was a line when we got there but come to find out the line was moving pretty fast so we decided to fall in line. You scan the menu on your phone from the sign they had so at least you can decide what you want while we wait in line. The tacos are pretty good, we got the shrimp taco. We also got the double sesh drink served in a pineapple and it was gorgeous! I guess they made too much so they gave us the rest in cups! So that was cool, we finished our pineapple and took our 2 extra drinks and walked around the beautiful campus of the hotel! I would come back here for sure!

This place is probably one of the best kept secret spots on the coast. Its right on the boardwalk in front of hotel Del. They recently renamed this place the beach shack and it litteraly is a shack they have a tiny bar seating area but more seating is available across the walk right on the beach. You cant beat the location to sit down and enjoy a beverage or 2. Martin was pouring some good drinks and the tacos were on point. It wasnt cheep but you cant put a price on that sunset location. We had a great time people watching ,eating and sipping on whiskey. Ohh its a full bar with some local breweries on tap so thats nice. They dont have set hours but they do close when the sun goes down, so plan on arrival well before sundown and you will be just fine.I will be coming back for sure very soon.

Way overpriced for a little shack on the beach when you can bring your own food and sit in the same spot for much cheaper. We got one beer ($10), one small margarita ($20) and two SMALL tacos and the bill was $45 before tip. There is no waiters or waitresses. The Margarita was fine but nothing special. The tacos were also good but just good. Not great and definitely not worth the price but I guess the location is pretty good. I recommend just bringing your own food and sitting in the beach chairs or on a towel next to the shack.

This bar was perfect to end our 22 nd wedding anniversary! Got the ordered the double sesh it was yummy and served in a pineapple!

Enjoyed our last day at the beach shack on the beach ordered the sesh! Amazing and feels being in Caribbean so relaxing with great drinks

It's a little on the spendy side but seriously so amazing. Best tacos I've had in a long time and the drinks are pretty good too.

Beer and Tacos at the beach shack, watching the waves comes in.

This is a great place for a mid afternoon snack and a glass of wine or beer by the ocean. Fun location at the Hotel Del, out on the beach, watching the waves come in. It's a relatively expensive bar with a short list of great tacos. I would recommend this for a mid afternoon snack before dinner.

Beach shack. Marlyn the bartender was very unprofessional and rude to paying customers

The bartender named Martin was very rude and unprofessional, yelled at paying customers to step back and put mask over nose.. and proceeded to say "can you not read the sign and step back and fully put your mask on" ridiculous. Short guy with white shirt on. I was here last weekend as well and the weekend before and he did not seem like he wanted to serve us while displaying a bad attitude. I will not be buying drinks from this establishment again. Very unprofessional. I hope the owner instills some good characteristics in this individual.

    Great drink maker

His questions guided my indecision towards a Berkshire Old Fashioned that was fantastic despite my fumbling to get there. With the warm up round over and the old fashioned loosening up my creativity, round two was set to be a knockout. I love coffee (specifically strong espresso drinks), so I asked for a strong, coffee infused, punchy cocktail, but with a different base of alcohol from the old fashioned. What came out was the best cocktail I will probably ever have in my life. The bourbon cocktail with coffee liqueur (and a number of other garnishes I will never remember) hit the bullseye. Flavorful, strong, bold, delicious all at the same time. Unfortunately (?), this was a noble experiment so I'll forever be chasing the white whale of what this drink was. But that's the allure.

I would say this was probably our highlight of our trip in San Diego. Garrick, the bartender there, was super accommodating. Felt like I was going inside some continental room like John Wick. Definitely my vibe and definitely coming back. But if you ever get Garrick as your bartender, you're in for a treat!

The setting was breathtaking...! Sweeping views of the Pacific, elegant coastal decor, string lights, and swaying palms creating the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. Our cocktails were light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced, made with freshly muddled berries. Service from Brett was impeccable from start to finish; warm, attentive, and professional. Instead of the usual appetizer + entrée route, we decided to build our entire meal around a selection of appetizers so we could sample more dishes. It was an excellent choice! Variety really is the spice of life. We started with the house sourdough focaccia: warm, spongy, and perfectly golden, served with a flavorful dipping sauce that we couldn't stop eating. The crispy saganaki was golden and addictive, with bright, complementary flavors. The crispy calamari was light, perfectly fried, and tossed with capers, fresh herbs, and a zesty lemon-chili aioli. We finished with the garlic harissa chicken kabob: tender, well-seasoned chicken with a tangy harissa yogurt, served with warm flatbread and roasted vegetables. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully executed. From the stunning ocean views and creative coastal cuisine to the warm hospitality, Seréa delivered a memorable experience. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back!

And then there was the food. Menu all sounded great but this kitchen isn't up to the task, and relys on salt to make up for shortcomings. Octopus was so salty it was inedible. Soup was equally salty and, at nearly $30 for a cup, is ridiculously over-priced. Swordfish Tacos had good flavot but were so light on fillings that it was a joke. Maybe, MAYBE, an ounce if fish per 'taco.' Only dish that was halfway decent was Lobster Rigatoni. Still salt forward, but good spice. Would definitely not recommend this place and won't go back.

While she reduced the item's price, it didn't really matter because she embarrassed him over her own mistake. If the goal was to inflate the bill for a bigger tip, this isn't the way. She also went out of her way to trash-talk CH restaurants, which is ironic since a CH employee has never lied or lectured me over their own mistakes. As a business owner, I would want to know if my staff was behaving this way. I hope management addresses it.

It's cozy, intimate, and unlike any other place I've been to in San Diego. Reservations are definitely worth making since the space is on the smaller side and fills up quickly. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that, while the experience and ambiance were amazing, the drinks are definitely on the pricier side. I understand you're paying for the craftsmanship and atmosphere, but it's probably not somewhere I'd visit regularly because of that. It's common for tiki bars to be pricey so it was to be expected. Overall, I'm really glad I finally got to experience False Idol.
