We went at 5 PM and had gorgeous views of the water and great weather (they even offered to turn our heater since we were in the May Greys!). We're staying at the hotel and had credit to use for food. We went for dinner and the bread service bread was so good- they had a focaccia and cheese cornbread (both made in house). We got the seafood linguine and bolognese, which were good- they mention they make their own pastas in house. For brunch, we had the chilaquiles and omelette. Both were great and a lot of food. This restaurant is located on the resort property. It's downstairs adjacent to the lobby area. They have a limited menu that caters mainly to seafood. Someone in my party ordered the grilled chicken dish, but wasn't too happy with their selection. I ordered the salmon dish and it was delicious and arrived on a bed of rice. I was also able to try the steak and my first caviar experience was here. The caviar was so good. It was salty and it popped in my mouth. The only thing is that it took a really long time to receive our items. The wait to receive the bill took just as long.We had to request more bread and butter for the table as we waited for our dishes. There is both inside and outside seating available at this restaurant.We chose a table inside. I'm deducting one star for the speed of service. read more

Given that it was a Friday night, I was definitely expecting a better dining experience. The ambiance was absolutely beautiful, and we were seated outside with a gorgeous view, which was the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the food was very inconsistent. The bread looked fresh and delicious, but it tasted stale. They brought out a large basket, which made me wonder if they were simply trying to use up what they had left for the night. The steak was also disappointing--it was cooked fine but lacked seasoning and flavor. On the positive side, the sea bass was excellent and by far the best adult entrée we ordered. The kids' meals were surprisingly delicious as well, especially the Bolognese pasta. Overall, the setting is wonderful, but the adult menu fell well short of expectations. If you're dining with kids, they'll likely enjoy their meals, but the restaurant really needs to improve the quality and flavor of its adult dishes. Based on our experience, I'd rate it a 3/10 for the food, while the atmosphere deserves much higher marks. read more

The bread that came before dinner was also delicious; a type of corn bread muffin and a soft focaccia. Staff was kind and gave great recommendations. Came in for a night cap while we were staying at the Coronado Loews. We went to the stand alone bar (not inside the restaurant) where their shop and quick bite corner was located. Rourke was starting to shut down but he was still happy to serve us cocktails. I like when the bartender spends time with you to customize a cocktail suited just for you and that's exactly what Rourke did! We all got what we wanted and they were delicious and boozy. Dont expect bread for your table if you're colored! I am asian. An Indian family was seated before us and a Caucasian family was seated after us. You know who got bread. When I asked where our bread was they said they ran out. Our meal took 40 mins to arrive; kids salmon and a rigatoni bolognese entree. The salmon was overcooked and completely dry. The pasta was mediocre. As we are close to finishing out meal the waiter tells me they magically found bread and are heating it up. Perfect consistency, creamy; not too thick or too watery , loaded with clam bits and clam flavor, bacon to compliment, and jalapeño for a clean spice and not one element overbearing, all the flavor blended perfectly, impressive. The Shrimp cocktail: shrimp cooked perfectly; it's done right, you get the sweet, succulent, shrimp meat with sour lemon and spicy/sweet cocktail sauce and it's music in your mouth. I ordered Short Rib Stroganoff for my main dish, if they would've asked me to pay double for this I would've happily, as I haven't found better in San Diego. The Cassarecce noodles are perfect al dente, curled into itself and wavy and with channels to grab sauce and cream, the beef melts in your mouth with juicy flavor. The mushrooms and onions popped with fresh flavor. I had a side of asparagus, I'm still thinking of it because the preparation was immaculate, no stringy fiber I've come to expect, the stem was as soft as the head, the spears were prepped and steamed consistent top to bottom! I will get to the point. I felt that Crown Landing was a disappointment and just average and I will not return today here again. From the very beginning, the hostess made a comment "we have been waiting for you" when we arrived. We were 5 minutes early so I didn't quite understand the comment. We were sat down right at the front where every person walked by so the ambience was missing, especially for such a pricey meal. From the beginning, it went down hill. It took so much time for us to get a server that the hostess actually came over and asked us for our drink order to help out. It wasn't that busy so I was surprise. We placed our drink orders and again, they took a long time and my wife and I didn't get our pre dinner cocktails until our meal was served. We order 3 NY steaks and they were to be 8 ounces. We also ordered two pasta dishes and checked fingers for the little one, clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, Brie apps. For the most part, the meal was good. The clam chowder was delicious and chock full of clams and the Brie and shrimp were tasty. The bread they served was good as well. We did have to ask for water a couple of times which was irritating. The pasta dishes were ok... the bolognese had a nice flavor but the linguine with seafood lacked one important ingredient, seafood. For $28 that was surprising. The sauce was bland at best. Now the steaks. We ordered three of them and they were cooked the way we asked. However, all three of us noticed a strange gassy/ profane like flavor on them. They were still good but something was off. And what was supposed to be 8 ounces was 4-5 at best. And lastly, the Baine of any chef is having to cook chicken fingers or nuggets I am sure... and it looked like it. It literally looked like three or four of them were thrown on a plate with a handful of fries. $12?? Yikes. One thing I don't mind is paying for a quality meal and paying big. What I don't like is that this place was presented as a high end restaurant and it was average as best, with a $500 price tag with tip. Did the food taste good? Yes for the most part. Did I feel I got what I paid for? No. I would say that Crown Landing is mismanaged, needs service training and their impression of their food is much higher than my perception. Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars Cleanliness: 5 stars Atmosphere: 3 stars Price to value: 2 stars I won't be returning and I can't recommend this place unless you are in a pinch and there is nothing else. This is our second time here. This time we came to celebrate my passing my board exam! Chucky was our server and he was very kind and helpful. The manager was very attentive, my daughter cried in the beginning of our dinner because she wanted water and she came to see if she was okay. It was very sweet. We went to Crown Landing at Loews Coronado for a 6:15pm reservation with my son and his girlfriend. The hostess was welcoming and got us seated right away. Our server started off friendly, but after taking our orders, things kind of went downhill. The bread basket came out but I had to ask for a bread plate for myself. Our clam appetizer (a special of the day) took almost 50 minutes to arrive, and when I asked if we could get a little more cornbread while waiting, I was told they had already run out--which felt odd that early in the evening. And no other option was offered to us. The food itself was good. The clam appetizer was wonderful, steak frites was delicious, carbonara was tasty, and my son's girlfriend said the clam chowder was good. The seared tuna was just okay. Service was hit or miss. When I asked to take home the leftover appetizer, one server just handed me a container, but when I asked for a to-go box for my entrée, another server actually packed it up for me (which is what I'd expect at a place like this). The bill also took a while to come out, and when it finally did, it was someone else's check. Ambience was nice, and the restaurant itself is clean and welcoming. Overall, the food and setting were good, but the inconsistent service really hurt the experience. With more attention to detail, it could've been a great night. read more

We had a lovely time at this restaurant for dinner and breakfast. I will start with the service. Erika did a fantastic job in all areas. She knew her menu and was able to answer all questions for both dinner and breakfast. All of the people at this hotel (Lowes Coronado) were really good and made us feel special. We had scallops, cauliflower puree and asparagus for our main dinner. The scallops were cooked just a little over but were still tasty. The French onion soup was one of the best I have had. The broth was so rich and had a deep flavor. It was not too salty and had a nice balance of onions, bread and cheese. For breakfast we had the bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon (two times). The bagels were lightly toasted. The cream cheese had bits of green onion that were perfect. The salmon was plentiful, fresh and tender. It was served with capers, sliced red tomatoes, red onion and lettuce. The only comment I have is that the first time there was plenty if cream cheese and the second time there was not enough. Not sure if it makes a difference but the second time was room service and the first time was in the restaurant. Drinks were good. Great wine choice too. read more

It had Brussels sprouts and extremely flavorful pork Pieces in it. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the weather and boats from the patio. The reason it's not giving a 10 is the service could've been better. The server was a little awkward but no big deal, she was sweet. The food took a long time to come out. My other issue is that they claimed things were house made that clearly weren't. The pasta wasn't made from scratch because I found a random rigatoni in there. It was good though! If you are not staying in the resort, I'm not sure what the parking situation would be. It's $47 a day for self parking and $50 for Valet for resort guests but if you wanted to just visit the restaurant, you should call ahead to see what your options for parking are. read more

Dishes that I highly recommend: Corned beef hash with eggs sunny side up, and the waffle with dulce leche and cinnamon. The corned beef hash was authentic, NOT canned, with huge chunks of fresh corned beef, tender and juicy, sautéed with onions, peppers, and sliced fingerling potatoes. To start, I will say that the breakfast experience and the dinner experience at Crown Landing are beyond different experiences on all levels - I honestly felt like I dined at two separate restaurants! Crown Landing is the onsite flagship restaurant for Loews Coronado Bay. Décor wise it is everything you expect from a waterside restaurant with lots of whites and blues, and nautical themed art and adornments. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, as it is tasteful and done well. Ill break my visits up to give the full picture... Breakfast: I have had breakfast multiple times at Crown Landing during my stays at the hotel and each time, it is better than the last. This not only goes for the food quality, but also the service received. Food wise, my go-to's are the Chilaquiles or the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Brioche Sandwich served with potatoes. Both are filling, prepared perfectly and are quite tasty! Service for breakfast is always friendly, helpful and timely. Absolutely zero issues with my breakfast experiences. Dinner: On the other end of things, my sole dinner experience was one to remember for all the wrong reasons. The service was poor and the food was underwhelming. We did happen to enjoy the appetizers, but sadly did not enjoy our mains. Our server was checked out, spent majority of his time right inside the door on his phone and was generally not the best representation of the hotel or the restaurant. Side note...always eat outside if you can! Sitting across from the boats and water adds a great element to your meal! Overall, I would highly recommend Crown Landing for breakfast to all who stay here and I would gently recommend it for dinner with a notion to adjust expectations before arrival. Maybe it was just an off night, as I see a lot of very complimentary dinner reviews. I will certainly be back and I hope to toss that final star on the review at that time! read more

Came here with my family on a Sunday evening. The restaurant wasn't pack at all. I recommend outdoor seating if the weather is nice. We sat outdoor and the view is ok. The restaurant is next to the Marina so you get mostly boats and beautiful homes. It was still nice to be outdoor. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is gorgeous inside with many beautiful windows. For appetizers we ordered half dozen of oyster, truffle Mac and cheese, freshly baked bread, and ahi tuna. The star of the show was definitely the mac and cheese! It came with truffle shavings and was just super rich. Thinking about it makes me drool. That's a must try! The bread and butter was pretty awesome as well! For my main dish I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection! It was well seasoned and had the crispiest skin! The spinach that accompanied the dish was also spectacular. Nothing was bad about this dish...seriously! We also ordered the shrimp with orzo, steak and frites, and the short rib. Came here for a Sunday brunch. They were not busy (less than half full), but the service was extremely slow. It took over 75 minutes from ordering for the food to get to our table. They said they were short staffed on that day. The staff were friendly, but again because they were short staffed, everything took a long time. The whole meal took over 2 hours and fortunately, we had a late check out on that day. We also had a dinner here the night before - and the food was delicious, though the menu is a bit limited IMO. If you stay at the hotel, I think it's ok as long as you have plenty of time to spend here. However, there are so many great restaurants in Coronado, so I think there are other better options to explore when in town. read more

It was milky pasta with mushrooms. I had to ask for pecorino and salt and pepper to salvage it...$27 I think not. My beau had the seafood stew and the seafood was NOT seasoned at all. He said the broth tasted like they took a cup of sea water and mixed it with tomato paste. They had the nerve to present it by pouring the half of cup over the seafood at the table!!!! So the fiancé and I went to try out the food. Upon entering, the ambiance was calm, relaxing, and very welcoming. Even though I knew most of their staff was busy catering to 2 weddings that night, their service was good. Our waiter was attentive and took our order in a timely manner. We got an app (shrimp and grits), 2 mains (halibut, and the ribeye), and 1 dessert (strawberry cheesecake). It was a lot of food but nothing more nor less than what I expect for what I'm paying for. The food was good and had a lot of flavor. The fiancé and I both agree that the ingredients were fresh and the pairing of the food such as the rib-eye with the blue cheese was very flavorful, but we found was that the it can be cooked better. Example: We asked for medium rare and got medium, fish was a bit dry, and the shrimp and grits were a bit heavy on spice. The dessert, however, was very delicious. Definitely no complaints there. Wouldn't mind them doing my wedding cake since the resort do offer it as part of a wedding package. Overall, the experience was good and better than what I have at most restaurants at resorts. Only suggestion to their manager is to have their cooks be more attentive to the technical aspect of cooking the food. read more

The clam chowder small bowl was around $13. The clam chowder was good, but NOT great...don't bother with it. There are a ton of places that serve good clam chowder and for the fraction of the cost. The lemon chicken was very unique and tasty...I have not had that flavor before. It came with a side of cut potato pieces...they were smoked and probably some of the best tasting potatoes pieces I have ever had. The service was mediocre. I felt the waitress was fake and not sincere and genuine...I felt I was treated as just another number or check off her list. We did have to wait after I requested.
