What a great taco place. we had traditional tacos - chicken, vegetable and carnitas. single corn tortillas heated perfectly with tons of contents. served flat and open the chicken and carnitas are both spiced and cooked perfectly- truly delicious. Even veggies were perfectly cooked, although I kind of wanted to have more kinds of traditional or try the birria. separately served great side sauces added real flavor. lots of cilantro! would have liked radishes but everything else was so good I cannot fault the score. Not that it matters to me at all but the vibe was also cool, nothing fancy but clean. staff was nice. there was an aggressive homeless man outside and that seemed routine. this place even has horchata in small bottles. it's also bring your own beer or wine which is nice. $11 for 3 tacos of this quality may be the best deal anywhere in NYS. I've been trying to buy tacos in all the places i can find around here and so far these are the best. So far i've been to fewer than half of those i know exist but I want to try more styles here. Went here for lunch the other day. Ordered online and picked up. Small little place on the inside but the food was delicious so good. Chicken quesadilla was good but the main reason I went was for the tacos. One of the best tacos I've had. Got the chicken, carne asada and chorizo and it came with all the works. I would argue that these are the best tacos on the East Coast! I had the Birria tacos and everything about them, the balance and complexity of the flavors and texture, was better than any I've had in NYC. All the ingredients were also very fresh, including the salsa and guac, which we couldn't stop snacking on. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and helped us decide what to order. Prices are very reasonable too, and I personally loved the eclectic mix of old school graffiti and Korean decor. If you like GOOD Mexican food then this is the place to go. read more

Having grown up in California, I'm always skeptical of Mexican food joints around here. La Capital is legit. I had the birria tacos. Bomb as f**. Maybe it's because I haven't had these in so long, but they were delicious. The price for these tacos were definitely reasonable. I also had the horchata which was also tasty. I thought it was a bit overpriced but then I realized it's a lot cheaper than flying back to CA in the middle of a pandemic and driving around East San Jo on a Saturday afternoon looking for la nana's taco truck. read more

When I heard that they were opening up a shop, I would ask them almost every week when they'd finally be open! Now, my husband and I go every week to get tacos. We just tried this place for the first time today. We both got the traditional tacos carne asada and the chips and queso to share. The carne asada was so flavorful and perfectly balanced by the onion, cilantro and salsa verde. We got to sit in the cute heated bubbles outside. The service was great and she was very helpful. I got the 3 traditional tacos for $11, and they were fantastic. For the proteins of each, I got grilled chicken, marinated pork, and Mexican sausage. Each was delicious and flavorful. It came with a green salsa(?), sour cream, and lime, which complimented the tacos well. I dined in, the inside of the restaurant is a bit small/limited seating, but it didn't affect my experience. I've heard that ordering delivery/takeout for this restaurant is great as well, if you don't want to dine-in. Highly recommend La Capitale Tacos! Affordable and delicious. After reading the reviews I had to check this place out. I saw boxer Julio Caesar Chavez talk about tacos on some cooking show and to him it had to have the slaw and the lime or it wasn't authentic. That's what drove me to come and try La Capital Tacos out. I got three soft shelled tacos with the works. I could have gotten the works on the side but I wanted to see how THEY put it all together. I didn't want to get it wrong. For $12 I got a lot less than I expected. Not only that, but despite being careful, when I got home and opened the food container, I found a lot of the makings piled up on one side. Juices were running everywhere. The inside container was a mess. I gave one of the tacos to my wife to try. Then when I opened the container again, I thought I misplaced a taco. After moving some of the ingredients around I found it under the other taco. On the plus side, the tacos were flavorful, but that was due to the cilantro. Most places don't add enough. Chips were okay. I thought they were too small to hold enough salsa on them. All in all, for $20 I ate and finished up still hungry. I would have done better at Chipotle or even Taco Bell. read more

Excellent! Second time we've been to La Capital Tacos in Galleria 7 in Latham - great both times. Excellent salsa and chips, guacamole, my wife got the Pollo Asada Quesadilla which we both loved, and I got the 3 tacos with the works - the carne asada was excellent, as was the al pastor tacos - I'm saving the carnitas taco for breakfast. Stopped by to try out the new taco place!!!! We ordered burrito bowls. The kids had chicken and I had the steak. Meat was old and tasted spoiled. Had to purchase chips separately to dip. We also each got a soda. A soda that was flat and expired. Counter top was so dirty my arm stuck to it. No AC for 3 people it was a wasted of $61.00!! We were so disappointed by the food, prices and cleanliness of the place. Dirty curtains hung up behind the counter, so you couldn't see in the kitchen!
