We just use them to cater for a family reunion of 31 very picky Italian's . Everything was perfect. We had eggplant Parmesan, chicken, piccata, pizzas, and Greek salad. Everything we had was delicious and prepared perfectly and and each tray can easily be 25 people. I would highly recommend this place for a very good pizzas and casual Italian food. We ordered from La Capriocciosa for delivery on a Saturday evening post-wineries. The food was very delicious, especially the pizza and mozzarella sticks. I recommend the pepperoni and the chicken parm pizzas for sure! There are only 2 reasons for 3 stars instead of 5: first, the french fries ordered did not travel well, but I think that was due to the second reason: our driver was delayed in arriving by almost 45 minutes. We were staying at a VRBO home in Greenport, just 5 minutes from La Capricciosa (I saw it earlier that morning when parking for bagels), so I knew it was very close, and the house was very easy to find with GPS/Google Maps/Waze. So, I was disappointed in the delay and the need to call the restaurant, as well as having to go out and look for my driver up and down the neighborhood. read more

Driven out here a few time and had several of their dishes. The calamari is absolutely delicious. The chicken francaise, chicken marsala, spaghetti and meatballs, and mussels have always been fantastic. This is also the only place where I will actually eat their house salad. I was in Greenport on business and was hungry. Saw this little place on the way in and decided to stop and eat on the way home. This is a basic, no-frills pizza spot. They have a few tables in the pizza area and a dining room off to the side. It was busy when I arrived and had to wait a couple of minutes. No biggie. What was a biggie was that it was hotter than Hades in the place. I mean, they do have outdoor tables but the door was closed. Really, what would it have taken to prop the sucker open. Anyway, I had a couple of slices. They were ok, nothing to write home about. They had a very thin crust which is not my favorite. Sauce and cheese ratio was quite good. We popped in for dinner last evening around 8:30PM after traveling from BLock Island on our boat. The food was exquisite. The family style salad was terrific and plentiful. The house dressing was a tomato vinaigrette that was a perfect balance of flavors. The four of us split a Chicken Parmigiana and Eggplant Romano dinners which easily fed us. I'm giving this poor excuse for a restaurant 1 star because I can't give it no stars. First, Greenport is a resort area - but I live there. I just bought a house there and am trying out all the local restaurants to see which ones we like best. This one sucks !!! We went on July 5th - so, yes, I know it's busy and expected a bit of a wait - but we only waited a few minutes for a table - However...Once we were seated, that was it. The waitress took our order and we were left sitting. Nothing at all was brought to our table - no beverages, no bread, no salad. Nothing. Meanwhile other people who came in after us were seated and served very quickly. We asked why and were told that it's because they're just getting pizza. That wasn't true because they had other dishes on the table besides pizza. Another table was also served before us and they had main courses. Finally the beverages arrived and out of 5 ordered, only 3 were correct. Then the bread came - and the bread was good. Then 1 of the 2 salads came - but no dressing. We were also 5 people with 4 forks. We had to get up to get what they called dressing- it had tomato in it and was sort of oil-based, but that's about it. The lettuce wasn't good either - like it had been frozen and defrosted. We asked another waitress about the dressing and the other salad (not our waitress who was M.I.A.) and was told to "ask your own waitress". RUDE. We tried to speak to a gentleman, who is supposed to be in charge, but he didn't speak or understand English too well. He sent over a young lady to our table who was supposed to check on our food. It took quite a few minutes for her to return and she said she would bring the other salad while we waited. First, why didn't she just bring the other salad out with her ???? When I asked how long it would take for our food since we were already in the restaurant well over an hour - she refused to directly answer the question. It's being prepared was all she said - I asked again what that meant - how long would it be - and was told it's being prepared and would be a few minutes. She was so arrogant, we asked for the check for the salad and beverages and 2 slices of pizza for 1 person at the table. When we took out money to pay, she threw it at us and told us to get out. There was also another table who had ordered pizza - they also waited a very long time and were not even given plates for the pizza. I can't comment on the food - the portions look big - but after close to 1 1/2 hours didn't get to taste them. We were also told to consider ourselves lucky because people wait 2 hours to eat there - Not this person !!! Please heed my warning - with so many places to eat in Greenport and the surrounding area - run, don't walk - away from this pizzeria. We deserve better for our money than rude waitresses and very poor service. read more

So we drove to Greenport from our home in the pizza capitol of the world, Brooklyn NY, for a little R&R. We were running a late and decided to use Yelp to grab a pizza for the room and do the restaurant crawl the next day. We found La Capricciosa, called their number and placed an order for pickup. Then I plugged La C's street address into Google Navigator and drove into town to pick it up. Google instead directed us to an address on Front Street. No La C there but my girlfriend said she thought she had seen a pizza place a few doors back so she got out of the car while I drove around the block to meet her. Then I got pulled over by the local constabulary. No big deal. Just a headlight out and the cop was pleasant about it. I asked him if there was a pizza joint on that block and he said there was but it sucked and that I should go to La Capricciosa instead, which was on a side street about 500 yards from where Google thought that address was. With that long preamble out of the way, and a recommendation/directions from a uniformed local, on to the food review. We ordered a pie with extra cheese and green pepper. The pizza was surprisingly excellent, and by that I mean we're Brooklyn folk spoiled by the likes of Lucali, Tontonno, Di Fara and Grimaldi's. Sure it was a little oily but it held its own with best non-celebrity pizza in Brooklyn. The crust was perfect and the toppings fresh and generous. I mean, it's pizza. It's dough, sauce and cheese. How can you get it wrong? But most of the world gets it wrong anyway. La Capricciosa gets it. read more

The place serves large portions and starts the meal off with fresh baked bread and a really tasty salad big enough to feed three or four people. We ordered: - baked clams which came in a garlicky lemon sauce, perfect for bread dipping. -Baked Ziti- very fresh -Rigatoni Puttanesca - perfectly al dente, just the right amount of olives and anchovy in a rich tomato sauce. So this review is based off of my second time ordering from here because my first time was so unmemorable that my boyfriend didn't even remember we'd ever had pizza from here. One off-season Friday night I was out here in greenport and craving pizza. My go-to spot was closed and there's not many other options. I pull up la capricciosa'a Facebook in search of a menu since I couldn't find one in the house. That's when I stumbled upon a photo of their pizza with garlic knot crust. I immediately knew I NEEDED to try it. Lately I've found myself on a pepperoni kick so we ordered a half pepperoni half buffalo chicken pie with the garlic knot crust. When they told me the price ($28) I was shocked. A garlic knot crust pizza back in the city costs quite a bit more than that and that's for a plain cheese pie with the garlic knot crust. (Please don't read this review and adjust your prices!) They told us it would take a little longer to make, which was fine by us. We were super happy with our order. It was really delicious and the garlic knots were perfect. Would definitely order this pie again but maybe ask for some ranch / marinara on the side. read more

This pizza is pretty garbage but not quite as garbage as the people who work here - who will charge you $29 for a plain pie if you say something about "8 slices" over the phone. Then when you ask about the charge they'll comeback with "you ordered by the slice" - okay, yah got me, I guess. Disappointing. Probably not as disappointing as these d-bags missing their true calling, which would be working the phones at a Spectrum call center, but disappointing nonetheless.
