    Cheap fruits, veggies, and eggs!!
    Heather W.

So after visiting this spot, I realize I've been overpaying for fruits and veggies at Albertsons' across the street. The prices are at least 50% off what I normally pay, and to be honest it's the same stuff! Maybe some plums or limes have some imperfections but all is edible and equally amazing to me and you can find exotic fruits you normally couldn't find in an albertsons chain, or if you do find them, they are over priced. I also love the piñatas hanging on the ceiling. They have a food court type area with already made salsas and Mexican food. The gauc is fresh and made to order. Oh and eggs are wayyy cheaper!! Staff is friendly and efficient, I've never had to wait in a long line.

La Carreta is my local go-to store for all my Mexican food and drinks needs. They have an expansive selection of Jarritos which was perfect for my nephew's birthday party. This store also has very friendly service and I always feel welcomed when I visit.

Their cart pick up guy littered in front of my home!!

Someone left their cart in front of my home filled with trash. I called la Caretta to let them know to come pick it up before anyone steals it. They rushed to pick it up a few minutes later and left the trash right in front of my home. Police wouldn't interfere, unless they were in the act of littering... That'll teach me to help a local business...

I have thought I had seen it all. Beware of price ticket switching here. My father bought some meat for tacos at the butcher counter. Was charged for chorizo instead of chicken taco meat. There was chicken meat in the bag however he was charged for a piece chorizo which is way more pricey.

Pan Dulce from the Bakery. Made at the store, Fresh, Daily.

The bakery department is amazing. Stopped by for Mothers Day and the bread was fresh. Perfect for our morning cafecito.

Horchata Jello! Cool flavors! Looks like the store is going through some renovations and looking good

We were feeling adventurous on Sunday and looking for something to do and out of the blue, we decided to see where El Toro Road would take us, we know that if you take it in one direction it'll end up at Laguna Beach but where does it take you in the other direction? So we decided to try it out and lo and behold, El Toro turns into Santiago Canyon which turns into Chapman and before you know it you're in the city of Orange. As I watched in amazement, I also noticed another La Carreta location. A few months ago, I had visited the location in Anaheim thinking that was the only closest place for cheap sweet bread but hey, I can now head up El Toro for 15 minutes and it's about a $1 more but with more varieties. This grocery store is pretty fantastic. I've never seen such cheap prices for produce; it's practically a steal and everything is made fresh daily - everything from salsa, tortilla, tortilla chips, baked goods, etc. You can smell it as you walk in. I came in for my sweet bread fix and loaded up on the pinwheels, horns, and this pound cake like cupcake that almost looks like corn bread but it's not. I got 9 pieces for $4. That would have cost me a lot more at Efren's in Lake Forest since it's a little more pricier there. I just got my sweet bread on Sunday and it's almost all gone but I know I'll be back since it's not too far off of El Toro. I love this shop but parking is a little tricky here since the white lines have all but disappeared and the rest is sort of in shambles and people just haphazardly park in whatever direction they want to which makes it weird. You can park near the cell phone stores where the parking situation is a little better and walk over.

My daughter had been there earlier in the day and stocked up as she has 6 young kids and neither of us had been able to find supplies at Staters or Albertsons.

This is where I'm going to definitely tell you to never listen to anybody else's opinion and you should always try things for yourself. Because when I came here, it was beautiful. The hot foods bar may not be as big as the costa mesa location, but there's plentiful teriyaki chicken, salmon, soups, etc. And all of it is really good in my opinion. There's an infinite variety of Japanese snacks and the cashiers were so nice and kind. Even the security guard was helpful. I also just wanted to mention that the beef prices here were some of the best I had ever seen! Steaks for 7 to 8 bucks??? This place makes it possible to eat well even on a budget, and I am extremely grateful for that. I know for I fact I don't need to drive all the way to Costa Mesa anymore because this Tokyo Central is really, really great in my strong opinion. 10/10.

They have a nice selection of seasonal produce to go along with the staples. Their prices are higher, but the quality is there. Fish selection and quality is great. Prices are reasonable for the quality of seafood. I buy snapper here for ceviche, but get your jalepenos at a Mexican market for freshness and price. The prepared foods - sushi, poke, onigiri, musubi, hot dishes - are all tasty. They can add up fast though. The snacks and drinks are awesome if you like the Japanese snacks and drinks. Liquor selection is small but good quality. Whenever I go in, I spend way too much, but I am always happy with my purchases. Oh, parking is a challenge. Busy with small spaces.

My group of friends and I were purchasing snacks and waiting respectfully in line at Register 14. Our group consisted of one African American individual and three Southeast Asian individuals. When it was our turn to check out, the cashier told us the store was closed and refused to ring up our items. She directed us to customer service instead. When we went to customer service, we were informed that the store was actually still open until 10:00 PM. What made the situation even more upsetting was that after refusing to serve us, the cashier immediately rang up the customer behind us. If the store was truly closed, why were other customers still being checked out? The entire interaction felt targeted, disrespectful, and humiliating. While I cannot know the cashier's intentions, being denied service while another customer was served moments later left my friends and me feeling singled out and unwelcome. Rather than argue, I left all of my items behind and walked out. I have shopped at 99 Ranch for years and never expected to experience something like this. I hope management reviews the surveillance footage and register activity from Register 14 around 9:00 PM on June 6, 2026, and addresses why customers were falsely told the store was closed while others continued to receive service. Until then, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

There's also a deli that makes sandwiches, and the staff member helping me was so friendly and patient. I didn't know what to choose, so they recommended their most popular item: the Great Grandpa Joe sandwich. I ordered the large to share, and let me tell you... it was the best sandwich I've ever had. Delicious, generous, and absolutely worth recommending. One thing to note: there's plenty of parking, but my phone directions took me to the back of the store instead of the front -- a little odd, but easy to fix once you know.
