Love coming here is my favorite carniceria. Place is clean and staff is very nice. I love the ranchera preparada and the costilllas preparadas. I always come here for parties food is great. The tortillas are fresh, pan dulce is great and all the salsas are good!

La Reina Market on Tustin Ave. is a small neighborhood spot that's easy to find thanks to its location right on the corner of a busy street. The trade-off, though, is that parking is pretty limited, so be prepared for a tight squeeze during busier hours. The store itself is tiny, and while they do carry general groceries, the selection is limited. What does stand out is their variety of Mexican items--things you won't always find at larger chain stores. Most people seem to come here specifically for the deli, bakery, and meat counter, and honestly, that's where La Reina really shines. The pan dulce is always fresh and delicious, and their bolillos are consistently great. They also sell masa for tortillas and tamales, which is reasonably priced and convenient if you're doing any traditional cooking at home. Prices in general can be a little higher than bigger grocery chains, but considering this is a smaller operation--and the convenience of having authentic items--it makes sense. As for the staff, I've had a mix of experiences. Most employees I've dealt with have been friendly and helpful, but there have definitely been a few not-so-great interactions. They're busy, especially at the deli and meat counter, so patience is key. A tip for ordering deli/prepared foods: Look at the menu before you get to the counter and have an idea of what you want. The staff tends to move quickly and doesn't always answer detailed questions about the food, so doing your homework helps. I recommend checking Google photos, reviews, or even Yelp ahead of time so you know what you're getting into. The store can get crowded and overwhelming, and both the deli and the meat counter can get backed up. The quality of the meat is good--sometimes even a deal--though other times it can be pricier than at larger grocery stores. Overall, I do recommend La Reina Market, especially for authentic bakery items, masa, and deli foods. Just come prepared, know what you want, and bring your best patient hat!

I'm really sad that the quality of this place has gone down & prices have gone up since influencers started blowing up this place. This was my childhood market & I always loved the quality before. This is the second time I purchase flan & it's burnt. The bottom was inedible it was just a hard brick of bitter burnt sugar. I ate the top because I didn't want to drive all the way back to the store but I definitely won't be purchasing again in the future.

Hands down BEST marinated carne asada in all of north OC. You can pickup everything you need for a tasty bbq. The bakery is good too.

    Capirotada, so disgusting.

Every year I look forward during Easter When La Reyna makes capirotada dessert, I finally got the chance this year and all I found it was already pre-pack and ready to go, ( I usually get it from the counter) I was so exited it look darker and way wetter than before, I was so disappointed, I try eating it but it was disgusting. Please if you have product left because you didn't sell all of it don't try selling it unless it has the quality of a fresh product.

The bread here is so good. Not a lot of panaderías make the puerquito bread good but here it's delicious.

This place might be bigger than you think, like it was for me. Even though it was Memorial Day weekend, on a Saturday no less, the place was absolutely packed but it was still super clean and all items were neatly arranged as well. I picked out one each of Prime Ribeye, Prime NY Strip and Prime Filet. Didn't cook them till Sunday night and they cooked up super flavorful, juicy and tender. They even have prepared food to go here and after getting my meat order the butcher was kind enough to offer me samples of the Ranch Chicken Wings, Habanero Wings, and the Birria. All of them were really good but the Birria melted in my mouth. I think I just looked at the butcher and said Wow, waited a bit, then said Wow two more times. Forget the local restaurants. If I'm ever in the area looking for a place to eat, I wouldn't hesitate to come in here and get that food-to-go. PS. Even the driver that blocked me from getting over to the exit, forcing me to the next exit, which made me drive miles out of my way, couldn't erase how good this place is. And those food samples were just the icing on the cake. Speaking of icing, I gotta track down some cake now. :-P

I have…read moretried chimichurri sauces from Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but they aren't really very authentic. A friend recommended seeing what El Gaucho might have, so I visited the next day. The market is easy to spot with a big street sign out front. There are only two parking spots in front, one is a handicapped space. There's plenty of parking around the back though. When you walk in, you will see the main market with lots of items and brands I've never seen before. Slightly to the right is their deli counter with lots of meats, cheeses, and other miscellaneous items. To the right of the entrance is a dining area, and another counter where you can order sandwiches, empanadas, pizza, French fries, and drinks. I was laser focused on getting the chimichurri and leaving since I was short on time. It is in plastic bottles in plain view on on top of the deli counter. I purchased the regular variety, but they also have a spicy version. I could already tell this was going to be way better than the other two sauces I tried. I've had it on a steak, and on my breakfast scrambled eggs, and it's in a whole different league from the grocery versions I tried. It looks just like a restaurant chimichurri, oil based with lots of herbs and spices. I just had a nice filet mignon with chimichurri at a good Argentinan restaurant last week, and this chimichurri is about 90% as good. I moved it from the plastic bottle it comes in to a glass jar which will hopefully help preserve it longer, and store it in the refrigerator. I now have no reason to look elsewhere for chimichurri. My friend visits here periodically and says the sandwiches are excellent. I'll have to return again to try one, get more chimichurri, and explore the market and deli to see what other goodies they have.
